But I feel tonight it's particularly important to stand up for Serbia and thank the Russian security services who had this information and shared it with us. What are plasma weapons' potential in modern warfare?
Plasma technology, often called the fourth state of matter, stands at the forefront of scientific innovation and plays a crucial role in modern warfare.
Plasma-based weapons — once a staple of science fiction — harness plasma, a gas-like mass of highly-energised free-floating ions and electrons.
In the military sphere, plasma technology is valued for its versatility and immense power. Early research aimed at harnessing plasma for nuclear fusion, a potential clean and efficient energy source, which held significant implications for energy-intensive military operations.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D) vetoed a bill that would have enabled more people to challenge convictions when new evidence has been discovered in the case.
The Challenging Wrongful Conviction Act would have reformed Criminal Procedure Law 440 to allow convictions to be challenged in court when new evidence is discovered, even if the defendant pleaded guilty.
The bill was supported by state Democrats and opposed by state Republicans. Hochul, a Democrat, issued her veto on Christmas Eve. Currently, New York typically only allows convictions to be challenged when the defendant pleads guilty if there is new DNA evidence in the case. Most states allow other types of evidence to be considered.
According to the National Registry of Exonerations, 18% of known exonerations included guilty pleas and the vast majority of exonerations do not depend on DNA evidence.

US Vice President Kamala Harris is the least popular vice president during their first term since Dan Quayle in the early 1990s.
According to poll aggregators, Harris is up to 16 points underwater, with one analysis showing that only 39% of voters hold a favorable view of the vice president while 55% hold an unfavorable view. That would make her two points less popular than US President Joe Biden, who is facing his own historically bad polls.
Mike Pence, Biden, Dick Cheney and Al Gore all had higher favorability ratings than Harris during their first term in office.

🇬🇧⚓️🇬🇾 The UK has decided to re-task Royal Navy warship the HMS Trent and deploy it to Guyana after Christmas, according to British media reports
Instead of scouring the Caribbean in search of drug smugglers, the warship will take part in joint naval exercises with the former British colony and Commonwealth member. The decision was reportedly prompted by the current flare-up of the territorial dispute between Guyana and Venezuela.
💬 "HMS Trent will visit regional ally and Commonwealth partner Guyana later this month as part of a series of engagements in the region during her Atlantic Patrol Task deployment," a UK Ministry of Defense spokesperson was cited as saying.
The warship will stay in Barbados, the Caribbean region of the Americas, during Christmas, after which it will be heading for Guyana. Its activities will reportedly be carried out at sea, and will not involve docking in Guyana’s capital, Georgetown.

Legal tempest: Biden rains on Trump's immunity as trial faces delay
US President Joe Biden has said he sees no reason for presidents to enjoy absolute immunity from criminal prosecution, a position vehemently advocated by his predecessor Donald Trump.
The statement came in response to a reporter's question as President Biden left the White House for Camp David, where he plans to spend the Christmas holiday.
The Supreme Court's decision on Friday not to expedite a ruling on Trump's immunity case was a setback for federal prosecutors seeking to begin a trial related to the former president's alleged efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
Trump maintains that his actions leading up to the events of January 6, 2021 were within the scope of his official duties. The riot saw his supporters violently storm the US Capitol in an attempt to disrupt lawmakers' certification of Biden's victory.

“I said that if we allow ourselves to fight for political goals through violence and overthrow of the state, then very soon we will not have a state. Now you can see how true the term ‘Maidanization’ was,” Sapić told reporters. According to the acting mayor, if people want to come to power “through anarchy,” then they are trying to “destroy the state,” since in the future they will not be able to protect people.

Russian forces wipe out first French-donated Crotale NG missile system in Ukraine
Russia’s Armed Forces operating in the special military op zone have destroyed several Norwegian-made NASAMS and one French Crotale NG short-range air defense system donated to the Kiev regime.
The NATO-donated weapons systems were stationed at the Starokonstantinov airfield in the Khmelnitsky region, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday.
The Russian military carried out a coordinated assault that involved tactical aircraft, missile troops, artillery units, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
This is believed to be the first recorded instance of a Crotale NG being obliterated in combat, and serves as further proof that NATO's state-of-the-art equipment is fair game for Russia's Armed Forces.
