🇵🇱 The Polish Foreign Ministry said on Friday it summoned Russian Charge d’Affaires Andrey Ordash in connection with a missile that had flown into Polish airspace from Ukraine.

"This evening, Deputy Foreign Minister Wladyslaw Teofil Bartoszewski summoned Russian Charge d'Affaires Andrey Ordash and handed him a note, in which the foreign ministry demanded explanation on the case of violation of Poland's airspace by a cruise missile and an immediate cessation of such actions," the ministry said in a statement.

Earlier in the day, the Polish armed forces said that an unidentified aerial object flying from Ukraine had violated Polish airspace. The Polish military stated later that it was a missile, which performed a maneuver in Polish airspace and then returned to Ukraine. Chief of the Polish General Staff Wieslaw Kukula told reporters that, according to Polish radar control systems, the missile belonged to Russia, adding, however, that information was yet to be verified.

💰 American lawmakers are failing to reach a deal on security at the US border with Mexico and on providing additional aid to Ukraine, US Senator Chris Murphy said on Friday.

Members of Congress are still "working through the text" of a potential agreement, Murphy stated, as reported by Politico.

The lead negotiators took a brief Christmas break but held meetings on the matter as recently as Friday morning, Murphy was quoted as saying.

The US Congress adjourned for the winter holiday break without reaching a deal on border security and additional aid for Ukraine. Republican lawmakers have insisted on the inclusion of more stringent border security measures in the Biden administration’s $106 billion supplemental funding request, which includes more than $60 billion in aid for Ukraine.

Negotiators hope to have a deal to present to senators by the time they return on January 8, Murphy added.

The Biden administration has approved a possible $147.5 million foreign military sale of M107 155mm projectiles and related equipment, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said on Friday.

“The Secretary of State has approved a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Israel of M107 155mm projectiles and related equipment for an estimated cost of $147.5 million. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today,” the statement read.

🇹🇷Turkiye’s self-produced ANKA-3 flying wing drone made its maiden flight Thursday, representing another milestone for the country’s increasingly sophisticated national aerospace industry.

“Hopefully, our aircraft will make a strong contribution to the defense of our country with its advanced technologies, design and features,” said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in a social media post.

The sleek drone is designed to carry out missions requiring stealth, such as strike and surveillance missions, electronic warfare, and the disabling of enemy air defenses.

The development of the unmanned vehicle places Turkiye in a select group of countries able to produce such sophisticated aircraft.

❗️Russian air defenses have destroyed 13 rockets over the Belgorod Region, the Defense Ministry reported.

“On December 29, at about 11 p.m., an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack on targets on the territory of the Russian Federation using multiple launch rocket systems was stopped. The air defense systems on duty destroyed 13 rockets over the Belgorod Region,” the ministry said.

❗️ The air defense systems destroyed two drones over Bryansk and Bryansk region and no injuries were reported per preliminary information, Governor Alexander Bogomaz said.

Earlier in the day, Bogomaz said that air defenses destroyed four Ukrainian drones in the Bryansk region during the day.

"Over the city of Bryansk and the Bryansk region the air defense of the Russian Defense Ministry is working. Two unmanned aerial vehicles of airplane type were destroyed. According to preliminary information, there are no casualties," Bogomaz wrote on his Telegram channel.

Later, the governor added that four more drones were shot down over the region. No injuries were reported per preliminary information.

💵 Some conservative members of the Republicans party on Friday demanded their party leadership in Congress put an end to spending beyond mandated levels as they pointed to the country’s growing $34 trillion debt which they described as a “fiscal calamity”.

In its statement, the caucus reminded Republicans of their promise to the American to stop unmandated spending.

Ukrainian forces shelled Belgorod, damaged civilian houses, killed one person and left four others injured. As a result, 10 private houses, two cars and the water supply system in the city were damaged, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said.

"As a result of a direct hit of one of the shells in a private residential house, a man was killed. Four people were wounded... Various damages were recorded in 10 private residences: windows were broken, one of the houses was partially destroyed. Two cars were also damaged... There is damage to the water supply system in the city of Belgorod," Gladkov wrote on his Telegram channel.

He specified that there is a 10-year-old child among the injured, he is in a medium severity condition.

According to Gladkov, emergency crews are examining the site of damage to the water supply system, restoration work will begin after determining the location of the damage.

Ukraine shelled the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) 81 times over the past day, the DPR representative office in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) of issues related to Ukraine's war crimes said in a statement.

"Over the past 24 hours, the office reported 81 cases of fire by Ukrainian armed forces," the office wrote on Telegram.

According to the statement, one civilian was killed and another one wounded in Gorlovka. The DPR said that the Kiev regime fired 290 rounds of various ammunition.

In the previous day, Ukrainian troops launched 69 strikes.

Ukraine ‘thinks like a warmonger’ - Russian Foreign Ministry

Moscow sees no political will for peace either in Kiev or in the West, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin told Sputnik, recalling Zelensky's decree banning negotiations with Russia.

"Kiev still thinks like a warmonger and intends to continue the conflict 'until the victorious end,' which obviously means 'war to the last Ukrainian,'" Galuzin said.

"Washington and its NATO subordinates eagerly support Kiev on this, satisfying the growing military appetites of Volodymyr Zelensky's regime. All of this only delays the conflict settlement," he added.

Galuzin stressed that Russia has never refused to negotiate with Ukraine and has always advocated for a political solution to the conflict.

British Prime Minister Sunak has trailed the Labour Party in the polls for more than a year; now a new survey of Tories finds him unpopular within his own party as well.

The poll found Sunak with an approval rating of minus 26.5 in December, meaning 26.5% more of Conservative Party members disapprove of him than view him favorably.

The Conservative Party has struggled to govern in recent years, with Sunak’s Tory predecessor Liz Truss lasting less than two months in the position and former Prime Minister Boris Johnson resigning after remaining consistently mired in scandal.

Expansion of Russia’s manufacturing sector reached a record-high pace for the last seven years in December, according to data released by Standard & Poor’s (S&P).

Russia’s Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) rose to 54.6 in the last month of the year, the agency said. The upswing from 53.8 recorded in November marked the highest reading since January 2017.

The manufacturing surge, in turn, stimulated job creation, with the latter reaching a three-month-high level. Unemployment in Russia was at a record low of 2.9%, S&P Global said.

An unmanned Ukrainian Navy boat was discovered and destroyed in the northwestern part of the Black Sea on Saturday morning, the Russian Ministry of Defense said.

The detected target was destroyed using the standard armament of a Black Sea Fleet patrol boat.
