📈 Republicans believe in Trump's 2024 success more than Democrats do in Biden’s, a poll has revealed.
The respondents were asked to answer the question: "Do you think Democrats/Republicans have a better chance of winning the presidency in 2024 if Joe Biden/Donald Trump is the party's nominee, or if someone else is the party's nominee?"
Only 36% of Democrats said they believe that their party has a better chance of winning the election with the current president as the candidate.
As for Republicans, 50% of them said that ex-President Trump must be their candidate to succeed in the election.
The results of the poll, conducted by the Institute of Public Opinion at Marist College in New York on 18-22 October, were based on the answers of 1,209 respondents.

🗽New York City holds a general vote on Tuesday to pick a successor to outgoing Democratic Mayor Bill de Blasio.
Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, a former police officer with 20 years of experience who pledges a law enforcement reform to tackle violence in the city, is leading opinion polls. If elected, the Democratic candidate will become the second African-American mayor of New York.
His Republican rival, talk show host Curtis Sliwa, vows to focus on fair taxation and attracting more people to the ranks of police.
Apart from these two, there are seven more candidates on the ballot.

🇺🇸👮♀️ Minneapolis votes today in a referendum on whether to replace the police department with the Department of Public Safety, which would combine social and medical workers with peace officers to take a comprehensive public health approach to safety.
Supporters of the reform argue that the death of African-American man George Floyd at the hands of a white officer in Minneapolis last year discredited the police, and the institute needs an overhaul.
Opponents say that a surge in crime, in contrast, requires efforts to bolster law enforcement, not reductions.

🤔 New York City mayoral candidates have spent the last week before the election in get-out-the-vote rallies, attempting to win the support of constituents.
One of them, Republican Curtis Sliwa, has promised to do the unthinkable – to not wear his red beret if he wins the race.
The politician previously admitted that he never takes it off and even sleeps in it, only making exceptions for the US national anthem and visits to church.

“Systemic” mistreatment at Washington DC jail lead to transfer of some 400 inmates, officials say
The US Marshals Service intends to move the inmates out of the jail's main Central Detention Facility after a recent surprise inspection found evidence of unacceptable conditions, including unsanitary living conditions and the denial of food and water as a punitive measure.
🧐In a meanwhile, the conditions at a newer Central Treatment Facility, where Jan. 6 defendants are held, “were observed to be largely appropriate and consistent with federal prisoner detention standards," USMS said, and did not "necessitate the transfer of inmates from that facility at this time."
