🗣 US economy is a 'massive bubble':

“If you look at the US government, they are borrowing like $3 trillion a year. And it's just not sustainable. It's just voodoo economics and it's built on the house of cards. The reason that the dollar has been doing pretty well relatively to the rest of the other currencies in the world so far is because of the high grades by the Fed...But the flip side of that is that the US is spending so much money on the interest rates. So they're paying something like $1 trillion a year just on the minimum payments on the existing debt. How could Hamas deputy chief's assassination affect Israeli-Palestinian crisis?

"Evidently Israel is escalating the conflict in an effort to drift attention from its domestic crises and as a desperate act to proclaim some military wins," Dr. Imad Salamey, associate professor of political science and international affairs at the Lebanese American University, told Sputnik.

On January 2, Saleh al-Arouri was killed in a drone strike in southern Beirut.

Salamey believes that Israel's assassination of al-Arouri has shifted the pattern of the Gaza war toward target killings and may "very well expand Israeli bombardments of targets in Syria to those in Lebanon."

"It is very plausible for the conflict to spillover to Lebanon at a level of higher intensity," he warned.

🇮🇷 Iran not seeking to join WTO as enjoying membership in other regional blocs, Tehran says

"We are a [WTO] observer country, but with membership in BRICS, the SCO [Shanghai Cooperation Organization], EAEU [Eurasian Economic Union], ECO [Economic Cooperation Organization] — all of that combined equals the WTO itself! Now, we do not see the need for WTO membership," Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mahdi Safari told Sputnik.

Tehran's membership in the mentioned groups satisfies almost all the country's needs at the regional and global levels, the diplomat stated, adding, however, that if Iran was offered WTO membership, it would welcome such a step and agree to join the organization.

The Japanese Coast Guard Turboprop plane that collided with a landing Airbus A350 was not given permission to take off, according to a trannoscript released by Japanese authorities on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the Coast Guard plane and Airbus collided on the runway of a Tokyo airport. All 367 passengers and 12 crew members of the Airbus survived the crash, but five of the six people on board of the turboprop plane were killed, with the captain surviving after suffering major injuries.

The captain has said he was given permission to take off, but the trannoscript shows he was instructed to taxi to a waiting area and that he acknowledged the call.

The state of Ukraine's arms in the ongoing conflict is a clear example of a "logistical nightmare" as much of the military equipment the Kiev regime was given from its supporters "wasn't working in the first place," international relations and security analyst Mark Sleboda told Sputnik.

On Tuesday, it was reported in German media that Ukraine only has a few German-supplied Leopard II tanks remaining in operation. The issue was blamed on a lack of available spare parts for repairs.

According to Sleboda, Ukraine will face similar issues when it comes to NATO-supplied F-16s, which “will soon be decorating the steps of Zaporozhye, right alongside the Bradleys and the Leopards.”

Israel has told its allies that it was not involved in the terrorist attack in Iran's Kerman, the Wall Street Journal reports, citing sources.

According to the newspaper's sources, the purpose of the attack in Kerman is apparently to further increase tensions between Israel and Iran.

US officials said the US had no involvement in the blast, and said they had no indication Israel was behind it. White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said the US had seen no intelligence anticipating violence surrounding the anniversary of Soleimani’s death.
