The USA has opened a “new front” against the Houthis in Yemen, diverting attention from their problematic Kiev charges, Deputy Chairman of Russia's Security Council Dmitry Medvedev believes.
Medvedev drew attention to the statement of the Pentagon inspector general that oversight of arms supplies to Ukraine was not carried out properly.
The Bandera leadership of Ukraine turned out to be banal thieves who embezzle huge amounts of money for weapons, he noted.

The US Navy may run out of air defense missiles against the Houthis, Andrei Martyanov, military analyst and author, told Sputnik.
The US and the UK launched an operation against Houthi (Ansar Allah) movement in northern Yemen on Friday night. Houthis vowed harsh response and may use drones to overwhelm air defenses on US Navy.
He stressed that if a US destroyer gets hit by a drone, it will have “not just technical issues, but it will also become a political problem” for the US.

“US navy destroyers might have very good air defense radars, but if you send towards them a bunch of drones, then they’re eventually going to run out of missiles. What will be the most insulting in this case, rubbing salt in the wound so to speak, will be the fact that the Houthis will probably just sending $5,000-6,000 drones, which will force the US expend $1.5-2 million air defense missiles to stop,” Martyanov explained.

Uncovering the Houthi movement, the Western coalition's target
🔹Originating in 1992 in Saada, northern Yemen, the Houthi movement, with its military wing "Ansar Allah", is led by Abdel Malik al-Houthi, the native brother of the movement's founder, Hussein al-Houthi, after whom the movement is named.
🔹The Houthis seized power in Yemen's capital Sanaa in September 2014 amid protests over the removal of fuel subsidies.
🔹The entry of the Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia into the conflict against the Houthis helped pro-government forces to regain control of several districts.
🔹Despite ongoing military actions, recent years have seen protracted conflicts, with Saudi Arabia engaging in Oman-mediated negotiations.
🔹The Houthis face accusations of receiving Iranian arms but assert their independence in governance and decision-making.
🔹Amid Israel's Gaza operation, the Houthis have opposed Israel, with frequent attacks targeting ships en route to Israeli ports.

US aggression in the Middle East: A brief rundown
◾️Yemen
• On Friday, the US and UK launched an operation against the Houthis in Yemen. The attacks have already been condemned by a number of countries, including Russia and China.
• In 2010-2018, the US Air Forces carried out periodic strikes in Yemen, as they claimed, on al-Qaeda and Islamic State militants. It is still unknown how many civilians were killed during the airstrikes.
◾️Iraq
• On January 2, 2020, a US missile attack on Baghdad airport killing Iranian General Soleimani.
• Since 2014, the US has been conducting operations in Iraq against ISIS, which has not yet been completed. According to the White House, there are currently 2,500 US military personnel in Iraq serving as instructors and consultants.
• In 2003, Washington attacked Iraq without a formal declaration of war, overthrowing Saddam Hussein's government. US military intervention officially ended in 2011, leaving behind unprecedented destruction and up to a million dead Iraqi civilians.
◾️Syria
• In 2018, US-led coalition forces launched a series of missile attacks on government targets in Syria, allegedly in response to a chemical attack by the government army in Eastern Ghouta. Later it became known that the chemical attack was staged by the 'White Helmets'.
• Since 2014, US military intervention has continued in Syrian provinces Homs, Raqqah, Deir-al-Zor and Hasakah, some areas of which still remain outside the government control. In these territories, the US contingent controls oil fields and develops them, as well as covering them by military bases.
• In 2014, the US launched an operation against ISIS in Syria. The Russian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly emphasized that US actions in Syria are being carried out without coordination with Damascus and a UN Security Council resolution. In turn, the Syrian government stated that the actions of the US coalition are considered to be an occupation.
◾️Somalia
• In 2011, the US launched a series of airstrikes against suspected locations of the Al-Shabaab terrorist organization in Somalia.
• During the Ethiopian-Somali war in 2007-2008, the US conducted military intervention on the side of Ethiopia and carried out a number of airstrikes in southern areas of Somalia.
◾️Libya
• In 2011, the US intervened in the Libyan civil war on the rebel side. The operation ended with the President Gaddafi's murder. According to the Libyan Ministry of Health, at least a thousand civilians were killed in bombings. Due to the outbreak of the civil war, final victim calculations were not made.

Airstrikes against Yemen ‘will be seen as a new chapter of US attacks on Muslims’
The attack on Yemen by the US and Britain was nothing more than a “punitive measure” meant to “protect Israel,” even though the perpetrators sought to portray their actions as “safeguarding freedom of navigation in the Red Sea,” says Shahram Akbarzadeh, an expert in Middle Eastern politics at Australia's Deakin University.
Describing the US-UK attack as a “very dangerous move,” Akbarzadeh warned that the United States’ action has essentially “confirmed the worldview that Washington is bent on protecting Israel and has no regard for Muslims.”
