Yemen could ‘become Algeria’ for the US — award-winning journo
Washington’s actions amid the current spiral of the Palestine-Israel conflict could end up worse than Vietnam and may more closely resemble Algeria, Lebanon-based journalist Laith Marouf told Sputnik.
Weighing in on US President Joe Biden’s reported plans to expand the conflict into a sustained military campaign, the award-winning broadcaster said: “Palestine definitely will require a higher price in human numbers than the liberation of Algeria because Israel as a colony is the cornerstone and the jewel of American imperialism.”
After ten days, the bombing campaign on Yemen without authorization by the US Congress has failed to stop Houthi attacks on shipping vessels in the Red Sea. The Houthis, who are demanding that Israel halt its military campaign in Gaza, have vowed to respond in kind to American strikes.

America First vs Neocon establishment: GOP race brings clash of foreign policy visions
Since Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced on Sunday he was dropping out of the 2024 US presidential race and endorsing Republican frontrunner Donald Trump, the GOP primaries are now a two-horse race between the ex-president and former US ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley. There is a “stark difference in the foreign policies of Trump and Haley,” according to David Pyne.
Pyne stressed that Haley’s foreign policy vision was wildly out of touch the vast majority of GOP voters, noting that recent polling by RealClearPolitics showed that “the America First faction of the Republican Party commands over 81 percent of the Republican presidential primary vote, whereas the neocon faction has about 15 percent of the vote.”

This is in response to the recent assassinations in Lebanon and Syria and the repeated attacks on civilians and homes in our steadfast villages", official statement of the Lebanese movement said.
Israeli air base on Mount Meron, or Jabal Al-Jarmaq in Arabic, is the IDF’s primary air command and surveillance facility in northern Israeli, near the border with Lebanon. Germany deserves to have 'Dexit option'- AfD member
If attempts at reforming the European Union fail, Germany should be able to opt out of the bloc, Dr. Dirk Spaniel, a member of the Bundestag from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, told Sputnik.
The German politician pointed to the numerous failings of the EU “not only in terms of construction, but also in terms of policy practice,” noting:
Shortcomings linked with the “depressive proportionality in the elections in the European Parliament,” were singled out by Spaniel, according to which a German voter “carries much less weight than, for example, a voter of a small state, let's say Malta.”
Germany is “by far the EU's largest net contributor without receiving any appropriate compensation in return,” agreed Dr. Christian Blex of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. He remarked that “the corrupt EU elites are trying to gradually destroy the national independence of the member states.”
AfD leader Alice Weidel earlier said that any government formed by her party would seek to reform the EU and remove its “democratic deficit.” She added that if such reform isn’t possible, then “we could have a referendum on ‘Dexit’ - a German exit from the EU.”

🔸Portugal has confirmed its participation in the EU mission, according to a statement by Foreign Minister Joao Gomes Cravinho on Monday.
🔸Slovakia’s Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar announced that Bratislava will back the EU's Red Sea mission, even though the country lacks a fleet;
🔸The European External Action Service has proposed sending at least 3 ships;
