The US may impeach the head of the Department of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, over the situation with migrants at the Texas border.

Earlier, Texas Governor Greg Abbott accused the Biden administration of failing to fulfill its responsibilities to protect the border from an influx of migrants.

If impeachment is approved by the full House of Representatives and the US Senate, Mayorkas would be the first secretary in the country in almost 150 years to be removed from office in this way.
