Irritation and dysfunction: Is Kamala Harris in need of more work to do as VP?
In interviews with multiple former and current aides to US VP Kamala Harris, administration officials and an adviser claimed that in the White House many are fuming that she's not being adequately prepared or positioned and just left sidelined, according to CNN.
Harris is reportedly struggling with a rocky relationship with some parts of the White House.
She also complained about not being a greater part of the president's approach to important decisions such as the Afghanistan withdrawal.
🗣 "It is natural that those of us who know her know how much more helpful she can be than she is currently being asked to be," said Eleni Kounalakis, the lieutenant governor of California. "That's where the frustration is coming from."
Looks like Biden isn't considering Kamala as the future of Democratic Party anymore.

🤔As the public learns more about the previously unreported US airstrikes in eastern Syria and more questions keep coming, experts say US silence was caused by the shame of causing so many civilian deaths.
🔸 Dr. Michele Groppi, the president of ITSS Verona, told Sputnik that it is likely that there was a combination of "overwhelming evidence" and "internal dissent" from personnel who wished to keep the armed forces accountable.
🔸 The report comes amid increased US military scrutiny by mainstream media outlets, following the "chaotic withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan" in August, noted Sami Hamdi, head of the International Interest, a political risk analysis group.
Groppi and Hamdi both suggested that the US most likely chose to bury the situation out of natural embarrassment for their error.

🧐 The Jan. 6 committee will "move quickly" to refer Mark Meadows, Donald Trump's White House chief of staff, for criminal contempt for not cooperating with its investigation, a committee member, Rep. Adam Schiff said.
In an interview with NBC's "Meet the Press," Schiff spoke on the struggles the committee has faced, especially in regards to issued subpoenas against officials who took part in the Trump administration.
“I'm confident we'll move very quickly with respect to Mr. Meadows also, but we want to make sure that we have the strongest possible case to present to the Justice Department and for the Justice Department to present to a grand jury," Meadows remarked.
The January 6 committee appears to be using contempt of Congress charges only as a last resort.

🇨🇳✈️ A Chinese businesswoman earlier convicted of trespassing on Donald Trump's Palm Beach club, Mar-a-Lago, was deported over the weekend and arrived in China on Sunday.
Yujing Zhang had finished her 8-month sentence and was transferred to immigration custody in December 2019, but was held at the detention center for three times as long as her prison term because of deportation delays related to the pandemic.
Zhang’ flew from China to Palm Beach to attend a party at Mar-a-Lago in March 2019, where she was arrested on a trespassing charge. Zhang was found guilty the following September by a Fort Lauderdale federal jury of the trespassing charge and lying to Secret Service agents about what she was doing on Trump's property.

🇨🇳 The upcoming meeting between Joe Biden and Xi Jinping is a "holding action" to prevent either side from ramping up tensions, former diplomat and Assistant Secretary of Defense Chas Freeman told Sputnik.
"The Biden-Xi summit may pause the current deterioration in relations between Washington and Beijing. It is unlikely to cure it," Freeman said.
This meeting, Freeman said, might usefully begin a discussion of measures to reduce the danger of an accidental nuclear exchange, establish standards for crisis management.

🇺🇸🤝 The White House has dismissed media reports claiming a rift between the president and the vice president.
Jen Psaki took to Twitter to call Harris “not only a vital partner" to Biden, but a “bold leader” taking on key issues — from addressing root causes of migration to expanding broadband.
The remarks came on the heels of a CNN report of many in the Harris circle considering her to be inadequately prepared, and herself feeling sidelined.
