Cold War plan to ‘unpack Russia' has 'failed’ – analyst
His comments come after Putin’s annual State Of The Nation address in Moscow on Thursday, in which he specifically stressed that “lasting world order is impossible without a sovereign and strong Russia” and that everything the West comes up is fraught with conflict with the use of nuclear weapons, which means destruction of civilization.
Raffone, for his part, notes that “Western misunderstanding of what is the renewed strength of Russia under Putin’s leadership is astonishing.” According to him, modern-day Russia “has nothing to do with the old USSR; Western attempts to launch a second phase of the Cold War is shortsighted and destined to fail.”
He said that the West’s current weakness “is represented by the failure of effectiveness of sanctions against Russia”.
Per Raffone, “The global transport infrastructure, trade and financial system is developing in spite of the West, pointing at an alternative to Western dominance in those areas.”
The analyst also berates Western leaders for being unable “for now to implement a new logic in the global security framework.”

“The old Cold War plan to unpack Russia and force it to become a ‘space’ of nation-states has failed since Russian elites chose Vladimir Putin [as the country’s president] at the end of the 1990s,” Paolo Raffone, a strategic analyst and director of the CIPI Foundation in Brussels, tells Sputnik.

Russian troops have gained a foothold in the fortifications of the village of Rabotino.
Russian motorized infantry guards continue active assault operations in the area of the Rabotino settlement. With the help of unmanned aircraft, the command corrects the actions of the compound's personnel in real time and carries out target designation to artillery crews.
The operation to storm the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the area of Rabotino is organized in cooperation with all types and branches of the Armed Forces: air and ground reconnaissance are working continuously, powerful artillery training is being conducted.

Key points from Putin's speech:
Putin on the possibility of sending NATO troops to Ukraine: "The consequences of any intervention will be much more tragic."
Russia's strategic nuclear forces are in a state of full readiness. Work on new weapons in the country is continuing, we will hear of it soon.
About the special military operation:
▪️The vast majority of Russians support the special military operation
▪️The entire Russian economy showed flexibility and stability during the special operation
▪️Russia will end the war, eradicate Nazism and achieve all the goals of the special operation.
On the West's attempts to destroy the country from within:
▪️The West has underestimated the determination and steadfastness of Russia's multinational population. Today, Russia's sovereignty is being strengthened in various aspects, including internally.
▪️The West says that Russia will allegedly attack Europe. This is nonsense, as well as unfounded accusations that Russia will allegedly place nuclear weapons in space.
▪️The West is trying to drag Russia into an arms race; similar tricks were used against the USSR in the 1980s.
On multipolarity:
▪️ Without a sovereign, strong Russia, no stable world order is possible.
▪️ The share of the BRICS countries in the world economy on the basis of purchasing power parity will increase to 36.6%, while the share of the G7 countries will decrease to 27.8%, Putin noted.
▪️ According to Putin, Russia plans to create a new global financial framework based on cutting-edge technology. It will be free from political influence.
On the Russian economy:
▪️ Russia is on track to become one of the world's four largest economies in the near future.
▪️Last year, Russia's economy grew faster than the global average, outpacing G7 growth.
▪️ The Russian economy is becoming more and more sophisticated and technologically advanced, with less and less dependence on natural resources.

Big Tech giants ignore UK’s media censorship board
US tech giants, including Google, Meta and X (formerly Twitter), are refusing to cooperate with the UK’s 'independent' Defense and Security Media Advisory (DSMA) Committee on national security-related issues, Politico reports. The news outlet cites DSMA notice secretary and former military diplomat Geoffrey Dodds as saying that the committee “has been trying to break into” Big Tech, but to no avail.
The DSMA committee currently includes retired military officers and representatives from the UK’s key media houses, such as Sky, the BBC, and the Times. While the organization claims to be “independent” from the UK government, it is currently run by Paul Wyatt, the Ministry of Defense’s director general for security policy.

“The tech giants won’t have anything to do with us at the moment for their own reasons,” Dodds adds. DSMA notices, which are not legally binding, urge media outlets not to publish information that could potentially “harm national security.”

What message to the West did leading European publications find in Putin's address to the Russian parliament?
🔺The Telegraph paid special attention to Putin's statements about the risk of nuclear war. The publication links them to the idea of the deployment of NATO troops to Ukraine.
🔺The Financial Times also sees Putin's words as "the most explicit threat to use nuclear weapons" since the beginning of Russia's special operation in Ukraine. However, the paper notes that Putin has denied statements about "Russia's plans" to attack Europe.
🔺British newspaper Daily Mail sees Putin's words as a "direct threat" to the West
🔺French Figaro quotes Putin as saying that the West risks a nuclear conflict against the backdrop of NATO expansion and Macron's speech.
🔺 Monde considers the aforementioned thesis to be a message to the West. The news outlet also notes that in the Russian leader's speech, he highly assessed the Russian forces in Ukraine.
🔺German newspapers Bild and Zeit also saw Putin's words as an "open threat." The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung claims that Putin "warned" NATO that the alliance should not send a military contingent to Ukraine.

Gaza authorities accuse Israel of shooting at a crowd of local residents. The Israeli Defense Forces shifted the blame onto the Gazans.
Footage of hundreds of Gazans surrounding and allegedly looting humanitarian aid trucks has been released by the Israeli army.
Dozens of people died as a result of the stampede. Some were crushed under the trucks' wheels, while others were crushed by the large crowd.
At the same time, Gaza authorities say more than 100 people were killed. However, these deaths were not caused by the stampede, but by Israeli shelling. Some Israeli media write that the IDF actually opened fire.
