German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has held a press conference following the leak of a conversation between high-ranking German military officers
A disciplinary review of the officers who took part in the leaked talks will be launched, Pistorius announced. He also said that:
▪️ The leak occurred due to a personal mistake by one of officers involved;
▪️ According to the minister, one of the military officers joined the conversation through an unsecured network;
▪️ The interception of the online conversation occurred due to a "personal application error," and the leak came from a military officer’s device located in Singapore.
Earlier, the WSJ reported that the online conversation was conducted on the WebEx platform and that one of the participants was in Singapore and participated by phone. According to the WSJ’s sources, the platform is actively used for negotiations by the military and other officials. Bild, in turn, suggested that the officer's room was bugged, and that "his phone was compromised or he was dialing through an unsecured network."

Why are doubts hovering over the Anglican Church’s bid to absolve itself of its slave trade sins?
A fund containing £100mln ($121mln) earmarked by the church to "address shameful past wrongs" has been deemed insufficient with prospect to be increased to £1bln, independent consultants estimated.
🟥 According to reports, even the original £100mln compensation fund proposed by the Church is still not operational;
🟥 Consultants considered £100mln incomparable with “the scale of moral sin and crime” and proposed to increase it at least tenfold, which represents a rather vague budget ceiling;
🟥 The church called on wealthy families and institutions to replenish the fund, yet it refused to invest its own money in it.
In January 2023, the Church of England unveiled this fund after the revelation that its predecessor endowment fund, Queen Anne's Bounty, had invested in the slave-trading South Sea Company. It operated for about 30 years, during which around 34,000 slaves were transported under severe conditions.

German Luftwaffe leak shows how Ukraine proxy conflict risks 'dire geopolitical consequences’
The leak of a conference call between German air force generals “nipped in the bud” plans for more missile deliveries to Ukraine, Michael Maloof, former senior security policy analyst in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, told Sputnik.
The exosé was vital, he added, because “it does put these countries on notice that if they want to continue this war and use Ukraine as a proxy, it's only going to affect their economies, their industries, their people. And it could have dire geopolitical consequences”
The “very sophisticated” Taurus long-range cruise missile system “requires the presence of the military personnel from their country in order to operate it. That's why chancellor Scholz said that he would rule out the export of such missiles because it required the German military to operate it,” Maloof stressed.
As for talk of sending troops from NATO countries to fight in Ukraine, “if they do it on a bilateral basis, these countries then can no longer seek protection under Article 5 of NATO,” Maloof warned. “And if that's the case, then they're on their own.”
