Under President Vladimir Putin, who has been re-elected for a six-year term, Russia will modernize its existing branches of the armed forces and create new ones, designated as a priority, Alexey Leonkov, a military analyst, told Sputnik.
What are these branches?
▪️ Hypersonic systems of the new generation will become more compact and maneuverable so that they can be part of the ground forces, the navy or the aerospace forces;
▪️ Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) will be categorized into three modifications: reconnaissance, scout/attack, and loitering ammunition. These drones will be further divided into tactical and operational-tactical zones for land or sea theaters.
▪️ Electronic warfare systems will now incorporate explosive magnetic devices that are designed to produce an electromagnetic effect on all of the enemy's combat control systems.
▪️ The laser complexes will see an expansion with the introduction of a new system, currently referred to as "Zabiyaka," in addition to the existing "Peresvet" complex;
▪️ Surface-to-air missile systems will undergo modernization to tackle a wide range of targets, from barrage munitions to objects that can fly at hypersonic speeds. S-500 complexes will be massively put into service, a mobile missile defense complex under working name "Nudol" will be completed;
▪️ Artillery and multiple launch rocket systems are set to be equipped with high-precision projectiles;
▪️ The navy will receive complexes to combat air and surface targets, including unmanned ones;
▪️ The Aerospace Forces will be equipped with hypersonic systems and aerial bombs containing a universal planning and correction module;

After Putin has been re-elected Russian president, the priority of national foreign policy in the next six years will the country’s very intense activity in the post-Soviet space and Eurasia, Dmitry Evstafiev, political scientist and HSE University professor, tells Sputnik.
He adds that other priorities may include:
▪️ Dialog with the West, above all with the United States, not on Ukraine, but on a wide range of security issues related to Europe and beyond.
Prof. Evstafiev, however, notes that “The West sees as a problem that Russia is not the one they want. As soon as the West realizes that it's not about Russia, but about the inadequacy of their perception of the modern world, there will be grounds for talking with the West seriously.”
▪️ Dialog with the Global South to continue a relevant foreign policy line that was defined earlier;
▪️ Creating a new space of geo-economic security in case of the collapse of the American-centered global economy based on the US dollar. It might include new payment systems or conducting non-dollar mutual settlements with Russia’s leading role in it.

Vladimir Putin's election win has opened the door to the next six-year term of his presidency. What do the countries of the Global South expect from Putin's forthcoming tenure?
"The Global South most urgently needs economic development and wants the right to choose its own path of development without it being imposed by any foreign entity. They also need unconditional support for this development. So they look to Russia and President Putin to support these efforts," Dr. Anuradha Chenoy, a retired professor at the Center for Russian and Central Asian Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University, told Sputnik.
According to Chenoy, Russia's approach to the Global South differs greatly from that of the West:
🔸 Russia's support to the Global South is unconditional;
🔸 Russia does not intervene through regime change, sanctions, assassinations, military or intervention;
🔸 Russia is not looking for proxies to carry out its agenda in contrast to the US;
🔸 Russia does not have a CIA-style structure operating in other countries to intervene in their politics.
Under Putin, Russia has especially focused on relations with the Global South as more and more developing states plot a course towards pursuing an independent domestic and foreign policy, and adhering to their own development model.

Why are Western elites against Vladimir Putin so much? A former CIA officer has some ideas
“One, when Putin broke up the oligarchs, many of those oligarchs were in bed economically with people in the West… Number two, Putin's embrace of fundamental Christian values and disdain for homosexuality and transgenderism has also, I think, been a source of anger directed at him,” Larry Johnson, a retired CIA intelligence officer and State Department official, tells Sputnik.

“What he's done is he's insisted upon trying to protect Russia and insist on Russia's national rights being respected. That has earned him the animosity in the West,” the ex-CIA officer stresses.

Experts across the globe weigh in on Putin's re-election victory:
🇺🇸 American economist Dr. Paul Craig Roberts: "The turnout is high because Putin, like Ronald Reagan and not like Joe Biden, is a leader focused on uniting the country. In terms of Russia's national interest, there is very little, if anything, to disagree with him on."
🇲🇽 Carlos Manuel Alvarado, a Mexico-based international relations expert, said that the high turnout rate in Russia's presidential election "shows the engagement and interest of Russian society in who will govern it."
🇹🇷 Turkish international journalist Ceyda Karan highlighted the fact that "the 74% turnout is a message in itself. It is a response to the West against the aggressive attitude towards Russia, Russophobia, and attacks on Russian culture that have started."
🇸🇳 Senegalese businessman Malik Niang pointed out, "the voting results show that there is a realization that something very important is at stake, not only for Russia but for the world."
🇫🇮 Finnish journalist and social activist Kosti Heiskanen added, "Putin won because he and his team can stop the fascism that has spread to Ukraine and countries of Europe."
🇦🇷 Argentinian analyst Alejandro Pacilla concluded, "Putin's election victory is a lesson for the US and Europe."

West’s aggression unites Russian people behind Putin - ex-US State Department analyst
Putin’s convincing victory will frustrate attempts to weaken and divide Russia, Scott Bennett, the former Army officer, former US State Department counterterrorism analyst told Sputnik.
Hostile forces have long sought to weaken and divide Russia’s centuries-old civilization, but President Vladimir Putin’s triumph suggests its people are more united than ever.
“This is a great day for Russia,” declared Bennett as it was revealed a record high number of Russians participated in the election. “The Russian people see themselves unified in one voice, and together, oppose the violent economic, diplomatic and informational war that has been waged against them and President Putin by the West for the last 10 years.”
Russia has long been seen as a threat to Western and US hegemony with its vast territory, wealth of resources, and cultural resilience.

“The West understands that with Putin’s victory they have lost the chance to dismember and cannibalize and weaken the Russian government, culture, and people,” said Bennett. “This is significant because the West's strategy has always been to disintegrate and steal Russian resources.”

Putin has won. What to expect from his next six-year term?
Vladimir Putin's victory will ensure Russia's economic rise and military-technical development in the forthcoming six years, Sputnik's interlocutors say.
📈 Economy: "Russia has not only emerged as the largest economy in Europe today but is a visibly vital part of the more economically relevant and fast-strengthening group of nations that now comprise BRICS, ASEAN, AfCFTA, Mercosur, and SCO," Paul Goncharoff, a businessman and owner of the consulting company Goncharoff LLC, tells Sputnik, adding that Russia will continue to be a global "de-dollarization flagship" under Putin.
🪖 Military: Russia will build on its current successes in the "technological race" with the West, according to Alexey Leonkov, a Russian military analyst. "The victory of President Putin is a determining factor given that under him [Russia] has built a [technological] chain that starts with research and development work and ends with the delivery of modern weapons and military equipment to the Russian Armed Forces," he tells Sputnik.
🌏 Foreign Policy: Russia will continue to pursue its goals without compromising its interests, according to HSE University professor Dmitry Evstafiev. "Russia is taking on the role of a leader in creating a space of geo-economic security in the event of the collapse of the US-centric global economy," he explained. "The US-centric economy may soon enter a very deep crisis, which has already begun to take shape. Therefore, Russia will create such a security space in order, first of all, to protect itself."

High voter turnout in Russia a “powerful potential endorsement of Putin's leadership”
The record voter turnout in the Russian presidential election this year effectively thwarts any criticism of this matter by the West, says Dr. Matthew Crosston, professor of national security and director of academic transformation at Bowie State University.
If voters “really do not have any excitement for a candidate or do not believe in their overall policy positions for the country,” Dr. Crosston explains, they usually refrain from voting altogether.
Dr. Crosston also suggests that there won’t be a “record turnout” in the upcoming presidential election in the United States, seeing how it is essentially going to be a “presidential race between two candidates that, quite literally, almost no one is excited about and everyone seems to have complaints for, both Republican and Democrat.”

That is, in the least, a powerful potential endorsement of Putin's leadership for where the country needs to go,” he notes.

United States is bent on portraying Russia as enemy unless it bows to US hegemony
The only way Russia may be welcomed by the West into global community and allowed to pursue “an active and engaged role in global affairs” involves giving up any interests “that run counter to American hegemony,” warned Dr. Matthew Crosston, professor of national security and director of academic transformation at Bowie State University.
Referring to Vladimir Putin’s recent remarks about France missing a chance to help negotiate a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict, Crosston observed that NATO, a military bloc France currently belongs to, is “decidedly more comfortable with the Russian Federation as its main bogeyman and declared enemy.”

“Until then, America will continue to push a role for Russia that is highly negative and will expect other countries to emulate that policy. Period,” he remarked.
