Aussie jihadist killed a British mercenary in Ukraine

The murder of British mercenary Daniel Burke grabbed world headlines back in October last year. However, only now has it been revealed that he was killed by an Australian mercenary, who turned out to be a jihadist. Why did the Western media talk about “Jihadi Adam” only now? And why did the slain Burke appear in the British outlets several years ago as "Jihadi Dan"? Sputnik reveals the facts some interesting eye-opening details.

◾️ Last October, the body of UK mercenary Daniel Burke (photo 1) was found dumped in a Ukrainian drain, 44 km from the front lines. An Australian-Algerian mercenary, Abdelfetah Nourine, helped find the body, informing police that he had shot Burke by mistake. Nourine previously said that the Briton had been on the range with him before he had disappeared. The Australian-Algerian merc also claimed that he had left the range without Burke.

◾️ However, there was no prior mention that Nourine, a 26-year-old Australian citizen from Melbourne (seen in photo 2), also known as "Jihadi Adam," was connected to radicals (photo 3). This information only came to light in the Western press a few days ago (photo 4).

◾️ “Jihadi Adam” is believed to have now left the area, but his whereabouts are unknown. Curiously, the Aussie ‘hired gun’ was in the "Dark Angels" mercenary group led by Burke (photo 5)

◾️ However, the slain UK merc’s background is also vague. According to the British outlets, in 2019, Daniel Burke was charged with three terror offenses because he had previously travelled to Syria where he had fought alongside Kurdish units. Then local media dubbed him "Jihadi Dan" (photo 6).

‘Pseudo-Islamic’ terrorists have been fighting in the Ukrainian military for years

Sputnik correspondent Russell Bentley (@TXDPR) reports that the Ukrainian military has long recruited ‘pseudo-Islamic’ extremists and deployed them in the Donbass. “It's a known fact that they've been here the whole time just like Western mercenaries,” he said.

Joker-10: what we know about Russia’s unique hibernating FPV drone

First-person view (FPV) drone maker Center for Integrated Unmanned Solutions has fielded an advanced new unmanned aerial vehicle known as the Joker-10.

◾️ The drone, already in use in the special military op zone, has a reported carrying capacity of up to 5 kg, and can fly about 100 km/h fully loaded, or 200 km/h empty.

◾️ What distinguishes the Joker-10 from other FPV drones is its hibernator unit that allows it to lie in wait for a week or more at a time far from its operators before being switched on remotely and used as necessary.

◾️ The drone can lay in wait for launch for up to one week in winter, and up to a month in the summer, as it is resistant to rain and snow.

◾️ Another Joker-10’s unique feature is its electronic detonator system, which makes it possible to remotely destroy it and prevent it from falling into enemy hands.

◾️ To date, the enemy has not gotten its hands on a single one of such drones, because the driver is guaranteed to be triggered either by a timer, or by an impact, or by the operator’s command.

Stripping the Storm Shadow: What Russia can learn by examining Europe’s most fearsome missile

Sputnik has received an exclusive first-hand peek into the Storm Shadow – the fearsome Anglo-French long-range cruise missile delivered to Ukraine in large numbers. What knowledge can Russia’s military and defense scientists glean from studying the weapon? Plenty, says veteran military affairs observer and missile expert Alexander Mikhailov.

“I think our specialists will strive to figure out the alloys used to make the weapon; this is the most interesting question. They will figure out its guidance systems and their interaction with the navigation system, and the software itself, which also requires some digging into. Of course, we already know how to produce similar weapons –and in some ways better ones, but it is nevertheless necessary to know what technologies and innovations the enemy uses in such delicate areas,” the observer explained.

“At a minimum,” Mikhailov expects Russia’s analysis of the Storm Shadow to force the enemy to “change the tactics of these missiles’ use” in the Ukrainian conflict zone.

Russia has demonstrated that it possessed tools which can defeat the Storm Shadow, Mikhailov noted, listing off air and missile defenses from the Tor M2 and Buk M2/M3 to the S-300 and S-400. The Storm Shadow is an expensive missile, which means “we must expend expensive anti-missile missiles on them,” he said.

🇪🇺EU turns blind eye to Ukraine morphing into ISIS safe haven

In July 2015, Italian MEP Matteo Salvini raised the issue of ISIS* sympathizers fighting on the side of the Ukrainian regime in Donbass in an official request to Federica Mogherini, then the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

"Given the serious danger posed by ISIS and Islamic terrorism in general, as confirmed recently by the tragic attacks in France and Tunisia, does the Vice-President/High Representative not consider it appropriate to rethink her stance regarding the conflict between Ukraine and Russia and engage in closer dialogue with Russia with a view to containing this fundamentalist threat?" the Italian MEP asked.

Western and Ukrainian journalists weighed in on the problem in 2019 and 2020, admitting that Ukraine has turned into nothing short of a safe haven for terrorists over the recent decades.

🔺Islamic military units made up of ISIS sympathizers fought under supervision of the Right Sector**, an umbrella paramilitary neo-Nazi formation, in Donbass;

🔺ISIS militants used Ukraine as a transit point to go to and from Syria. Facing obstacles upon returning to their countries of origin, they settled in Ukraine with the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) ignoring the problem;

🔺Apparently, hundreds of ISIS militants have found refuge in Ukraine, according to investigative journalists and jihad experts;

🔺An unholy alliance between jihadists and Ukrainian nationalists, including the Ukrainian National Assembly - Ukrainian People's Self-Defense** (UNA-UNSO), has existed since the 1990s, with Ukrainian mercenaries fighting in the First and Second Chechen wars on the side of the Islamists.

The Biden administration approved the transfer of billions of dollars of military equipment to Israel, amid concerns about a potential Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip city of Rafah, The Washington Post reported.

The United States will provide Israel with more than 1,800 MK84 2,000-pound bombs and 500 MK82 500-pound bombs, the report said, citing State Department and Pentagon officials.

The MK84 bombs have been connected to mass-casualty incidents during Israel’s military operations in the Gaza Strip, the report said.

The US will also send 25 F-35A fighter jets and engines, the report said.

The US Navy over-executed supplemental funding for Ukraine by $398.9 million in 2022, the US Defense Department’s Office of Inspector General (DoD IG) said in a statement.

Inspector General Robert Storch released a management advisory on the Navy’s execution of supplemental funding to aid Ukraine, the statement said. An audit of the Defense Department’s execution of the funding found internal control deficiencies that resulted in the Navy over-executing funds, the statement said.

“The advisory found that the Navy over-executed its Ukraine funding three times during Fiscal Year 2022 for a total over-execution of $398.9 million. While the Navy had funds available to reverse the over-execution on those occasions, such funds may not be available in the future, which could lead to a potential Antideficiency Act violation,” the statement said.

The DoD IG recommended that the Navy develop and implement internal controls to prevent over-execution of supplemental funds, take corrective actions to address the FY2022 over-execution and update procedure documentation to address specific controls put in place, the statement said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky admitted Ukrainian troops would remain in a constant state of retreat if the US does not provide Kiev with necessary assistance, The Washington Post reported.

“If there is no US support, it means that we have no air defense, no Patriot missiles, no jammers for electronic warfare, no 155-milimeter artillery rounds,” he said. “It means we will go back, retreat, step by step, in small steps.”

“We are trying to find some way not to retreat,” Zelensky lamented.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that the United States asked Kiev not to carry out strikes against Russian oil refineries and that the request was not well received by Kiev, according to an op-ed in the Washington Post.

"The reaction of the US was not positive on this," Zelensky said when asked about reports the US urged Ukraine to avoid strikes on Russian energy facilities. "We used our drones. Nobody can say to us you can't," he added.

The Financial Times reported that the United States urged Ukraine to avoid strikes on Russian oil refineries as a means to prevent an energy crisis that could destabilize the global oil market.

US officials have declined to comment on the report, but have instead reiterated that they do not encourage Ukrainian attacks inside Russia.

Is the ‘puppet master’ still the ‘master’?

“There's an interesting article… by a former senior Ukrainian official, now living in Russia, who says, ‘is this a case where the puppets have become the puppet masters?’” Political Science Professor Nicolai Petro wondered on Sputnik’s The Critical Hour.

“I mean, if you believe what The New York Times and Politico report that Washington in no uncertain terms told Ukrainian officials to cease their attacks on Russian oil refineries and certain other types of targets, and the official response of officials of the Ukrainian government is that, ‘No, we won't do that’ – well, what conclusions are we to draw from that? How subordinate actually is Ukrainian interests and policies now to America and American funding?” the analyst said discussing possible involvement in Crocus City Hall terrorist attack.

“Now there are stories that the leader of ISIS-K*, or the creator of ISIS-K, had actually worked in various positions in Afghanistan with the CIA,” host Wilmer Leon suggested. “So, some could posit that the United States didn't want to reveal its sources because those sources would cut too close to home,” he added. Petro agreed that “It's a possibility.”

With radical nationalists and neo-Nazis representing a significant element within Ukraine’s Armed Forces, Petro suggested the possibility of Ukrainian “puppets” acting on their own.

Russian authorities’ revelation that the terrorists attempted to seek refuge in Ukraine has raised questions about Kiev’s guilt and, by extension, its Western benefactors’ involvement. Russia’s foreign minister said on Thursday that Moscow cannot rule out Ukraine possibly benefitting from the terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert venue.

Washington and Kiev have furiously denied Ukrainian involvement in the terrorist attack.

🇭🇺What is behind the recent ‘street action’ in Hungary?

The protests against Hungary’s prime minister Viktor Orban seem to be copied from the same page in the same playbook as the protests in January against neighboring Slovakia’s prime minister Robert Fico.

“What is going on in Budapest is an exact copy of what we had in Slovakia,” says Peter Marcek, former deputy of Slovak parliament, chairman of Slavs’ Unity party. “They want the opposition to get back to power, using foreign money. And the opposition is totally pro-EU and pro-US.”

The magic word “thousands” is used in order to justify the media noise about a “protest” of at most 0.01% of Hungary’s population.

For comparison: at the last election in 2022 the prime minister was supported by 3 million 57 thousand Hungarian citizens, who made up 54.1% of those who voted.

According to the EU rotation rules, on July 1, 2024, Orban will get the chairmanship of the European Council of Ministers – a serious body, whose chairman sets the agenda for EU summits. And, of course, the EU bureaucrats are angry.

Here are the statements from Orban, which caused their hatred:

🔺“The crucial question is not who’s on the Left and who’s on the Right… The decisive question is who is pro-peace and who is pro-war. So… I think it would be a good thing if we in Hungary – and in other European countries too – if we sent to the European Parliament as many pro-peace politicians as possible, and as few as possible pro-war ones.”

🔺The people who are interested in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine – these are the arms manufacturers… Speculators and big business of the West are also poised to have their share, including Soros.

🔺“There is no way Ukraine can take Crimea from Russians. It is totally impossible.”

'Where is the outrage?': the IDF has been seen gunning down, bulldozing Palestinians who wave white flag – report

Independent journalist and RT correspondent Rachel Blevins sat down with Sputnik’s The Critical Hour to discuss the recent atrocity.

“It's yet another horrific video as you were describing it there,” said Blevins. “It's horrific to think about, and yet, we have the video evidence, and this is just one of several videos showing Israel committing very clear war crimes. It's not much of a debate about this, about who did this or who was it done to - we know, all of the evidence is there. And yet, as you were pointing out, the Biden administration has done nothing.”

Al Jazeera released a video showing Israeli soldiers gunning down two Palestinians on the coast of northern Gaza, even as one of the Palestinians appears to be waving a piece of white fabric. The footage also shows one of the men walking in the direction of an Israeli military vehicle with both his hands raised, a recent report claimed. The Israeli soldiers then buried the bodies of slain Palestinians with a bulldozer.

“Their [the US] claim that Israel is following international law is based on the fact that they were given assurances by Israel's defense minister---again, the guy who said 'no food, no fuel, no water'---that he sent a letter to the US earlier this month literally saying we're not violating international law, we're not blocking humanitarian assistance,” Blevins said, in reference to Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant who announced a complete siege on the city of Gaza.
