The terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall prompted many Russians to join the armed forces on contract, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"During the interviews held last week at selection points in Russian cities, most candidates cited the desire to avenge those killed in the tragedy that occurred on March 22, 2024 in the Moscow region as the main motive for signing a contract," the message said.

Russia is aware of the participation of Swedish mercenaries in the hostilities on the Ukrainian side, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told Sputnik.

"Attempts by the Swedish Foreign Ministry to clumsily legitimize such 'soldiers of fortune' and thus incite more Swedish citizens to travel to the 'hot zone' show Stockholm's complete indifference to the fate of its own citizens," she said.

Zakharova added that "despite the current absence of any reference to the Ukrainian Foreign Legion on the website of the Ukrainian Embassy in Sweden, one can hardly doubt that the recruitment of Swedes is carried out by the Ukrainian diplomatic mission through other channels."

"As the Russian Defense Ministry said, the total number of Swedish mercenaries on Ukrainian territory is up to 90 people, 25 of whom have already been killed," the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman specified.

Netanyahu under fire from 'outraged' allies over deadly Israeli strike on Gaza aid convoy

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has come under pressure from his allies over the Jewish state's drone strike on a convoy of the US-based international volunteer aid organization World Central Kitchen (WCK) in Gaza.

Seven aid workers were killed in the strike, including citizens of Australia, Britain and Poland, as well as Palestinians and a dual US-Canadian citizen.

◾️In a phone call, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak told Netanyahu that he was "appalled by the killing of aid workers,” urging a “thorough and transparent independent investigation into what happened.

◾️Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese demanded "full accountability" from Israel over the death of Australian aid worker Lalzawmi Frankcom, "a tragedy that should never have ocurred."

◾️Albanese's Canadian counterpart, Justin Trudeau, called for "full accountability and investigation in this”, adding that it is "absolutely unacceptable" to attack aid workers.

◾️Poland's Deputy Foreign Minister Andrzej Szejna stressed that the Israeli authorities "should think about who should be held criminally responsible for pressing a certain button and how to compensate the families of the victims - even if it's impossible to do so with money".

◾️US President Joe Biden said he was "outraged and heartbroken" by the killing of seven WCK workers. "Incidents like yesterday’s simply should not happen. Israel has also not done enough to protect civilians," he added in a statement on Tuesday.

Aid to Ukraine will bankrupt future generations - US Congressman Eli Crane

"We’re funding what appears to be yet another forever war that will bankrupt future generations — all while disregarding our own security as our southern border remains open," Rep. Eli Crane told Fox News Digital.

"It’s absurd that overnighting more tax dollars to Ukraine is even a consideration. It should be totally off the table and replaced with a push for peace talks."

❗️The Russian Federation Council has called on the UN to condemn the actions of the collective West to interfere in the Russian presidential election.

"The Federation Council calls on the UN, international parliamentary organizations and parliaments of foreign states to condemn the actions of the collective Western countries coordinated by Washington to interfere in the preparation and conduct of the presidential election in Russia ... and also to promote terrorism and extremism to destabilize the situation in Russia during the election campaign," the text of the adopted appeal.

Russian senators noted that the chamber "strongly condemns" attempts of external interference in the preparation and conduct of Russian presidential election, which began "before the election date appointment."

The appeal also emphasizes that the actions to disrupt the presidential election of the Russian Federation "were also taken by the Kiev regime, incited by NATO curators".

"Armed formations of Ukraine fired on polling stations in the border regions of Russia, actively used drones carrying explosives against civilian objects in the constituent entities of Russia during the election period, carried out attempts of an armed breakthrough on the territory of the Kursk and Belgorod regions of Russia, which were sternly repulsed. As a result of these criminal actions, civilians, including children, were killed," the deputies said.

The presidential election in Russia was held on March 15-17. With 100% of the ballots counted, incumbent President Vladimir Putin received 87.28% of the vote.

Ukraine facing 'grim' military picture with risk of 'front lines collapsing’ - Politico

"There’s a great risk of the front lines collapsing wherever Russian generals decide to focus their offensive," the news outlet wrote, citing high-ranking Ukrainian military officers who served under General Valery Zaluzhny.

They explained that the active use of guided aerial bombs and the significant numerical advantage of the Russian army make the military picture "grim" for the Ukrainian forces. These factors will enable the Russian Armed Forces to "penetrate the front line and to crash it in some parts," they noted.

A high-ranking Ukrainian military official stated that, at present, Ukraine lacks the necessary advanced weapons technology to effectively deter Russia's offensive, especially given Russia's numerical superiority.

"There’s nothing that can help Ukraine now because there are no serious technologies able to compensate Ukraine for the large mass of troops Russia is likely to hurl at us," the military official said.

The scandal over the use of the Pegasus program to illegally wiretap politicians in Poland led to Warsaw being stripped of its license for the program.

"Polish special services no longer use this system. The right to use it was taken away from Poland and several other countries in 2021 due to the fact that the license had been revoked," Poland's minister-coordinator of the special services Tomasz Siemoniak told TVP Info.

Former Prime Minister Morawiecki, current Prime Minister Tusk, and many other politicians in Poland were tapped using the Pegasus program developed by the Israeli NSO Group company.

US State Department claims 'no evidence' to suggest Israel violated humanitarian law

There is no evidence that Israel deliberately struck World Central Kitchen aid workers in Gaza nor that the Israelis have violated international humanitarian law, National Security Council spokesman John Kirby has argued.

“Your question presumes, at this very early hour, that it was a deliberate strike, that they knew exactly what they were hitting, that they were hitting aid workers and did it on purpose, and there there’s no evidence of that."
