⌛️🚀Countdown to liftoff: everything you need to know about Russia's Angara-A5 carrier rocket

The clock is ticking for the launch of the Angara-A5 heavy-class carrier rocket, equipped with the Orion booster module, from the Vostochny Cosmodrome in Russia’s Far East. The lift-off is scheduled for 9:00 GMT.

▫️Twelve minutes and 26 seconds after the launch, the Orion booster with a test load is due to separate from the rocket’s third stage and be put into low Earth orbit.

▫️The corporation plans to conduct 15 Angara rocket flights with Orion modules from Vostochny before the end of 2033. The main goal is to build a Russian orbital station.

▫️The Angara-A5, developed by the Moscow-based Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center, is part of a family of modular Russian launch vehicles, based on universal rocket modules with oxygen-kerosene engines.

▫️This three-stage rocket, weighing in at 761 tons, is made entirely of Russian components and has the capacity to transport up to 24.5 tons of payload into low orbit.

▫️The use of non-toxic rocket fuel in the rocket is remarkable as it greatly reduces the environmental risks both at the launch site and in areas where the spent stages might land.

▫️The Angara rockets will enable Russia to launch all types of spacecraft from its soil and ensure “independent access to outer space,” according to the Russian state corporation Roscosmos.
