Ukraine’s Azov soldiers subvert commander-in-chief's order to defend Chasov Yar – report
A third assault brigade of the Azov* battalion has again refused to сomply with the Ukrainian command's order, the Russian Telegram news channel Voenny Obozrevatel (Military Commentator) reports.
According to the channel, the Azov brigade subverted an instruction by Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrsky to send them to Chasov Yar in an attempt to hold the town.
The order was sabotaged because brigade commanders reportedly consider Chasov Yar lost for the Ukrainian military, amid reports that Russian forces have entered the suburbs.
Earlier, the Azov brigade refused to enter the key city of Avdeyevka near Donetsk, which was liberated by Russian forces from Ukrainian nationalists in February.

🇷🇺 Meet Skorpion, Stalker & Uran, Russia’s best mine-sweeping robots
💥 Over the course of the past few years, the Russian Armed Forces have demonstrated an uncanny ability to deal with minefields, improvised explosive devices and booby traps, in no small part due to an impressive arsenal of bomb-disposal drones and robots.
Here are just a few examples of the tools that Russian combat engineers have at their disposal to address any explosive threats they may encounter:
◾️ The Skorpion is a small and nimble wheeled drone designed for ferreting out and disabling booby traps and land mines.
◾️ The Stalker is a cutting-edge minesweeping robot currently in the field-testing phase in the Ukrainian conflict zone. This 27-ton vehicle is specially designed to clear both anti-tank and anti-personnel minefields.
◾️ The Uran-6 is a heavy, six-ton tracked unmanned vehicle that can shrug off explosions as it navigates through mined areas. It is equipped to clear landmines, barbed wire, and debris with ease.
◾️ The Kobra-1600 is a specialized bomb disposal robot specifically engineered for the remote evaluation and disposal of explosive devices and booby traps. Equipped with onboard cameras and a robotic arm, this robot is perfectly suited for these dangerous tasks.
◾️ The Shmel is a compact minesweeping robot designed to handle subtle and delicate threats, such as insidious anti-personnel mines like the PFM-1 or Dragontooth.

AI-powered drone revolution: Autonomous unmanned vehicles flooding the battlefield
The Ukraine conflict has revolutionized the use of AI-powered drone technologies on the battlefield. Which countries have made progress in the field?
▪️The Pentagon is pushing defense contractors to build 1,000 AI-powered drones to escort F-35 and B-21 warplanes and attack enemy targets. In July 2023, the US Navy tested AI-guided swarms of air and sea drones during UNITAS 2023. In October 2023, the Marine Corps conducted a test flight of the AI-powered Kratos XQ-58A Valkyrie UAV in Florida.
▪️The UK, together with its AUKUS allies (Australia and the US), conducted its first AI-powered swarm drone drills in April 2023 featuring UK and Australian Blue Bear Ghost and Boeing/Insitu CT220 UAVs. British watchdog Drone Wars UK claims the Defense Ministry pursues over 200 AI-related R&D programs to use autonomous drones on the battlefield.
▪️Israel uses AI-powered mini drones, including Elbit Systems’ LANIUS, Spear's NINOX 40, and Xtend's Wolverine to conduct intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) tasks; some of them can carry weapons and act as kamikazes. As per Fortune, Israel used AI-guided drone swarms to attack Hamas in Gaza as early as in May 2021.

"In the UK and the US, these technologies are now being developed not just quickly, but very quickly," Russian military analyst Dmitry Drozdenko tells Sputnik, adding that many other countries have joined the race.

US tries and fails to disrupt Russia-China strategic partnership
China has shrugged off recent threats from US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and US Deputy State Secretary Kurt Campbell over its ties with Russia. Here's why:
▪️Russia is a key member of BRICS and SCO; crucial in the de-dollarization drive, and in shaping security in Central Asia, a strategically important region for China.
▪️Russia supports China's key alternatives to the West, like the Belt and Road Initiative and the Asian Infrastructure and Investment Bank.
▪️Russia and China face similar threats from US that undermine their interests. They both oppose the US Indo-Pacific Strategy, AUKUS security pact, and US missile and biological weapons development.
▪️Russia and China are poised to maintain record-high trade, joint military drills, arms and energy deals, with plans for joint space exploration.

Marking the 80th anniversary of Odessa's liberation
On April 10, 1944, the Soviet Army completely liberated the city of Odessa, which was an important chapter in crushing the Nazi forces in the course of WWII.
With the help of the fierce partisans and underground fighters, Soviet troops managed to push the enemy out, paving the way for a further ferocious liberation of cities throughout Nazi-occupied lands, not just in the USSR but also Europe.

Ukraine’s new counteroffensive: Same old bravado, same pleas… same outcome?
Volodymyr Zelensky recently asked his Western sponsors for more “modern weapons systems” and money as he claimed in an interview with German tabloid Bild that Ukraine has a plan for a new counteroffensive. A quick reminder: the previous one, pre-announced in spring 2023, started with a delay on June 4 and ended in November 2023 without achieving its goal - to reach the Azov sea in order to cut “the land bridge” between Crimea and “mainland” Russia.
The losses of that operation in 2023 were:
▪️The number of Ukrainian casualties in the period of the counteroffensive, estimated by Russia’s Defense Ministry, stands around 159 000 soldiers, including 5,800 mercenaries mostly from the Western countries.
▪️During 2023, Western sponsors provided Kiev with $68.6 billion in economic assistance and $41.4 billion in military aid, most of which was wasted without progress on the ground.
▪️In terms of weaponry, the Ukrainian army lost: 766 tanks, including 37 German-made Leopards; and 2,300 armored vehicles, including 50 American-made Bradley-2.
▪️The land gains of the “counteroffensive” were minuscule. It stopped far from the Azov Sea, set as the main task set by the US and the EU during the meeting at the base in Wiesbaden in the winter of 2023.
The main loss, however, was psychological: Western enthusiasm for the “Ukrainian cause” lessened. The US Congress blocked a new batch of money for Kiev for the first time at the end of 2023, suspecting corruption and ineffective use of American funds. Zelensky was no longer met in the West by cheering crowds.
This year, Zelensky is pleading for support again amid urgent calls for assistance. But with the same approach, are there any guarantees it will have a different outcome?
