🚫 Democratic and Republican leaders in the US Senate have agreed on a deal to continue funding the federal government and avoid a shutdown
The US Congress has until midnight on Friday to pass a measure to keep the federal government funded. This is not the only monetary deadline faced by Congress, as it has to take action on the debt ceiling, with the federal government nearing its current $28.9 trillion borrowing limit.
As of today, the House has passed this bill, however, it now faces an uphill battle in the Senate, which recently saw a bipartisan bill reached to avoid a shutdown.

Man accused of stealing school bus, crashing into an estimated 20 parked cars in Brooklyn.
The suspect struck and destroyed multiple vehicles. One car was rammed back and forth by the bus with a driver inside.
At first witnesses said they feared there were children on the bus, but that was not the case. Police attempted to taser the suspect but he was reportedly only struck with one prong. One officer was said to have suffered a minor hand injury and three others reported minor injuries. Charges against the suspect are pending.
One question: why did he do that?

Meghan Markle won the latest phase in her litigation against a leading UK press group to protect her privacy, amid the publication by various newspapers of a personal letter she wrote to her father in 2018.
In a statement, the Duchess of Sussex celebrated her triumph, in an unprecedented process for the British monarchy, which often tries to avoid the courts.
🗣 "This is a victory not just for me, but for anyone who has been afraid to stand up for what is right," said Markle, who believes that the precedent will serve to dampen British tabloid culture which is conditioned "to be cruel and take advantage of the lies and the pain” it commonly spreads.

'I know it's not me': Alec Baldwin says he's not to blame for fatal 'Rust' shooting
"I feel that someone is responsible for what happened, and I can't say who that is, but I know it's not me," the actor said. As an ultimate lure for clicks and reactions, pictures, GIFs, and videos of adorable animals are understandably one of the digital media outlets' favourite tools to lure in readers. However, The NYT points specifically at "people and organisations peddling false information online."
The outlet acknowledges that "the posts with the animals do not directly spread false information" (thank God!) and asserts that the huge traffic they draw can ensnare the unsuspecting users in "a publication or site spreading false information about election fraud, unproven coronavirus cures and other baseless conspiracy theories entirely unrelated to the videos."

Actor John Schneider has slammed Alec Baldwin over his interview, during which he said he "didn't pull the trigger." Schneider claimed the interview was "all designed to make us feel sorry for Alec Baldwin" and claimed the actor's teary-eyed emotional responses during the interview were "bulls--t."
"Three weeks ago, it was a prop gun. Four weeks ago, nobody knew how in the world this real weapon was loaded on the set," Schneider said. "Today, he didn't pull the trigger."
