❗️Sanctions directly harm the world economy: Putin

Western financial institutions are harming themselves with their own decisions, thus undermining the dollar, the Russian leader stated.

In particular, US elites are undermining confidence in the dollar as the world's reserve currency, even though they have much to gain from it, he stressed.

The Europeans confirm their dependence on the US in the matter of sanctions, Putin outlined.

Russia and China won't let business relations be subject of 'blackmail or coercion' – expert

Russia and China will not allow their trade and business relations be the subject of "blackmail or coercion from a third country,” Dr John Gong, professor of economics at the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing told Sputnik.

Agreements penned during President Vladimir Putin’s state visit can be seen as a “resounding statement” of that intent, he said.

Everyone knows what is implied by “a third country,” said the China Forum expert in a nod to Washington’s go-to practice of weaponized sanctions.

“I think China and Russia's economies are very complementary towards each other. And there should be a growth of economic relationship between the two sides not just in trade, but also in all other areas,” he said.

❗️ Putin's main statements to the press during his trip to China:

▪️ China is sincerely seeking a solution to the Ukrainian crisis, Xi Jinping spoke about his recent trip to Europe and his position on peace initiatives.

▪️ Russia needs to understand who it can deal with and who it can trust on Ukraine.

▪️ Moscow has never refused to negotiate over Ukraine, the basis for the negotiation process is the Istanbul agreements.

▪️ Russia will not accept any ultimatums on the Ukraine settlement.

▪️ We are "not seen" at the peace conference on Ukraine in Switzerland, if they do not see us, we do not need them.

▪️ As of today, there are no plans to take control of Kharkov; the military's actions in the region are a response to the shelling of Belgorod.

▪️ Zelensky's legitimacy is important to Russia when it comes to signing documents.

▪️ First we need to understand whether French troops will be in Ukraine and then take the necessary steps.

▪️ Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov will have to open the Defense Ministry to innovation and constructive work with scientists and military equipment manufacturers.

Ukraine demolishes centuries-old historic Ukrainian Orthodox chapel

The Desyatynny Monastery's Vladimir-Olginsky Chapel, part of the Canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, was demolished in Kiev, according to the monastery's social media (the chapel before destruction is depicted on the 3rd photo).

"The temple consecrated by His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir and His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy no longer exists," the message said.

The Monastery clarified that the miraculous icon of the Mother of God "Vladimirskaya-Desyatinnaya" is intact.

On September 14, a Ukrainian court issued an order to dismantle the Vladimir-Olginsky chapel of the Desyatin Monastery in Kiev.

The Desyatynny Church or the Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos is Russia's first stone Orthodox church, built in 989-996.

Last year, the Ukrainian authorities unleashed what amounted to be their biggest wave of persecution against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the country's modern history.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces are retreating in several directions and losing positions in the Zaporozhye region, Russia's local authorities say.

Ukrainian troops have already been knocked out of Rabotino, and they are also being forced out of Urozhaynoye and Staromayorskoye, Vladimir Rogov, a senior official in the Russian-appointed Zaporozhye regional administration, said.

📹 Vladimir Putin called the Istanbul agreements a basis for negotiations on Ukraine. He emphasized that “Russia has never refused to negotiate, unlike the Ukrainian side.”

The purpose of the upcoming summit in Switzerland on a Ukraine settlement is to gather “masses” and countries, then to announce the adopted resolutions as a collective decision and to present Russia with an “ultimatum.”

Vladimir Putin also said Russia would not ask for peace talks on Ukraine if Moscow is not wanted there.

Russia has no plans to take Kharkov, Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated

"As for what is happening in the Kharkov region, this is also [the Ukrainians'] fault, because they shelled and continue, unfortunately, to shell residential neighborhoods in border areas, including [Russia's city of] Belgorod," Putin said at a press conference in Harbin, China. "That's where civilians are dying. Everything is obvious here. They shoot directly at the city center, at residential neighborhoods."

If such actions continue, Russia will be forced to create a security zone, a sanitary zone, the Russian president stressed.

The petrodollar ‘dam show signs of cracking’

“A lot of other countries are… starting to believe that a world of trade dispensable with the dollar is indeed possible,” Dr John Gong, professor of economics at the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing told Sputnik.

He noted that “this is particularly important for trade in oil... We all know this concept called petrodollar. But I think we're starting to see this dam show signs of cracking. Saudi Arabia is starting to use other currencies with China in trading oil.”

China was also keen to push the internationalization of its currency the yuan, said Dr Gong.

“Within the BRICS bloc, there is an active working group exploring technical work about trading with another currency,” he explained. “Also, I would point to another example, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority is experimenting with some kind of a mechanism, with a digital currency mechanism, in collaboration with the Thailand Monetary Authority, with… the United Arab Emirates Monetary Authority.”

🗣 The legitimacy of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky matters to Russia, and the fateful documents should be signed with legitimate authorities, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a news conference in China.

“Regarding legitimacy: this question must first of all be answered by the political and legal system of Ukraine itself,” Putin said, pointing out that “there are all sorts of options in the [Ukrainian] constitution.”

He said the Russian side had previously been “in constant contact with the Ukrainian leader before the conflict turned into the acute phase of armed struggle.”

UK Royal Navy touts plans for ‘golden age’ of shipbuilding amid shrinking fleet's setbacks

Shipyards across Britain are preparing for a frenzy of activity as Defense Minister Grant Shapps advertises a new “golden age” of shipbuilding. The Royal Navy is planning to acquire 28 new ships to “turn the tide on a shrinking fleet,” Shapps noted at the Sea Power conference in London.

The Royal Marines will be boosted with up to six new multirole support ships. The versatile vessels are to replace all of the Royal Navy’s current amphibious support ships by the early 2030s. New Type 26 and 31 frigates will feature land-attack capabilities, and Astute and Dreadnought submarines will be domestically constructed, a news release added.

The “golden age” looks more like copper, however, as the Royal Navy has proved to be so unreliable that the UK did not participate in recent NATO drills:

▪️ HMS Prince of Wales has languished in dock undergoing repairs more often than being at sea since its commission in 2019. In 2020, the carrier suffered a leak in the engine room, followed by the collapse of an accommodation block.

▪️ In 2022, HMS Prince of Wales had to be towed back to Portsmouth harbor after halting off the Isle of Wight – on the very first day of its trip for drills with the US and Canada.

▪️ Royal Navy flagship HMS Queen Elizabeth had to pull out from major NATO drill Exercise Steadfast Defender in February 2024 after a coupling on the vessel’s 33-ton starboard propeller malfunctioned.

▪️ HMS Prince of Wales was to stand in for its sister vessel in the war games, but its departure was delayed by technical issues.

▪️ A fire broke out on board HMS Queen Elizabeth in March 2024 as it was docked in Argyll and Bute.

▪️ Two Royal Navy minehunter ships collided at a port in Bahrain during docking in January 2022. Scenes of the embarrassing mishap involving HMS Chiddingfold and HMS Bangor flooded the Internet.
