💰Crypto Investing in 2022: ‘The Train Has Already Left the Station'

In an interview, Rosie Rios, a former US Treasurer who served from 2009 to 2016, has indicated that it’s far too late for those interested to begin investing in crypto in the looming new year.

"If you're just now thinking about investing in cryptocurrencies or blockchain technology, you're probably already too late to get in on the ground floor,” Rios has stated. “It's not just the future; It's already being used all over the world."

In November, a group of regulators, including the US Federal Reserve, said that lawmakers plan to offer clarity next year on how banks and other large financial institutions will be allowed to handle cryptocurrency. Rios hopes that 2022 will provide more regulatory clarity for the crypto market.

Major companies like Microsoft, PayPal, and even Burger King currently accept cryptocurrency. Movie theater chain AMC says it will accept bitcoin as payment for movie tickets “soon”.

🏛 Harvard Professor Found Guilty!

Charles M. Lieber, a Harvard professor and one of the country’s top chemists, was found guilty by a federal court of lying to government authorities about his ties to China. He is guilty of six felony charges, including two counts of making false statements and four related tax offenses.

Lieber was arrested at Harvard in January 2020 on suspicion of lying to federal officials about his involvement in a state-sponsored Chinese recruitment program that seeks to bring academic talent to the country. Prosecutors charged that Lieber lied about his ties to a program that funded his research with millions of dollars.

Federal prosecutors said Lieber chased money and Nobel hopes past the limits of the law with misleading statements and falsely-reported tax returns.

Lieber, currently battling late-stage lymphoma, will be sentenced for making false statements and be potentially subject to a maximum of five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

💊 FDA to authorize COVID-19 pills this week

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is expected to authorize two COVID-19 treatment pills - Pfizer’s Paxlovid and Merck’s molnupiravir - next week. Both medications are meant to treat higher-risk COVID-19 patients.

Merck’s research has suggested that the company's pill reduced the risk of hospitalization by 50 percent, whereas Pfizer's pill has proved far more effective by reducing the chances of hospitalization by 89 percent.

The US government has ordered 10 million Pfizer pills and roughly 3 million Merck doses in the same form.
Donald Trump is very appreciative and surprised that US President Joe Biden thanked his administration for their COVID vaccine successes.

During the announcement of expanded access to vaccines and support for hospitals across the country, Biden acknowledged the prior administration and the US scientific community for assisting in making it possible for America to be "one of the first countries to get the vaccine."

In an interview with Fox News, Trump reacted to Biden’s acknowledgement of his administration’s efforts.

"I'm very appreciative of that — I was surprised to hear it," Trump told Fox News. "I think it was a terrific thing, and I think it makes a lot of people happy."

🗣 "I think he did something very good," Trump continued. "You know, it has to be a process of healing in this country, and that will help a lot."
