🤔 Almost two thirds of Americans think the government should more actively regulate how social media giants tackle privacy issues.

A new poll has shown that 64 percent of US respondents believe the authorities "should do more" to regulate how Internet companies handle privacy issues, while 35% think it should not get more involved.

Only every fifth American expressed trust in Facebook, and 72% said they do not trust the social network.

🎧 Creator of the world’s first stereophone has died

Musician, entrepreneur, and inventor John C. Koss died on Tuesday at the age of 91. He invented invented the world's first SP/3 Stereophone in 1958 and forever changed the way we consume music.

After introducing the SP/3 Stereophone, Koss developed the Pro/4 Series, which soon became a recording industry standard, and the official headphone of Air Force One.

The Koss Corporation continues to design and manufacture high fidelity headphones and audio accessories to this day.

🔎The US House Oversight Committee announced that it is launching a bipartisan investigation into the deadly crowd-crushing incident that occurred at the Astroworld Festival in Houston, Texas, in November.

The committee sent a letter to Live Nation Entertainment Inc.'s president and CEO, Michael Rapino, requesting info about the company’s role in the Nov. 5 festival, including details about security, crowd control and mass casualty incident planning.

Last week, officials announced that the 10 people that were killed at the concert died from compression asphyxia.

US Vice President Kamala Harris tested negative for COVID-19 after an aide who assisted her “throughout the day Tuesday” tested positive, the White House statement reads.

An antigen test that Harris received Wednesday morning as part of regular testing and a PCR test after being notified of the staffer's case both came back negative.

🤖 CES 2022 starts to fall apart

The world’s biggest technology
show may not include many of its usual suspects as T-Mobile, Amazon, AT&T, Meta, Twitter, Pinterest, and iHeartRadio have all announced this week that they won’t attend this year’s annual Las Vegas tech expo in light of a new wave of COVID-19 cases in the US.

As of Wednesday, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) says it’s received 42 CES exhibitor cancellations but has also reportedly added 60 new exhibitors in that time.

A CTA statement says, “At this point, we’re very much focused on having this show and doing it safely and putting the right protocols in place to ensure that people feel comfortable with it.”
