The cryptocurrency Santa Floki named after Elon Musk’s dog surged more than 4,000 percent after the billionaire posted a Christmas tweet of his dog wearing a Santa costume with the caption “Floki Santa”.
While Musk seems to have just been referencing that his dog was wearing a costume, Santa Floki’s creators pounced on the opportunity to promote their coin.
Like Dogecoin, Shiba Inu coin, Flokinomics, and others, Santa Floki features a Shiba Inu dog as its mascot and has been propelled by social media hype.
However, most other cryptocurrencies that have gained steam based on short-term social media hype have subsequently crashed and burned.

🇺🇸 Richard Marcinko, founder of SEAL Team Six, has died.
The decorated but controversial founder and first commanding officer of SEAL Team Six died December 25 at the age of 81 due to a heart attack. He was a legendarily 'colorful' personality, served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1989, and was the author of numerous fiction and non-fiction works on the SEALs, leadership, and counterterrorism.
After serving two tours in Vietnam, he became a celebrated author of bestselling SEAL team fiction and the autobiography Rogue Warrior.
Despite his passing, Marcinko's legacy lives on. The anti-terrorism unit he founded still answers to "SEAL Team Six" informally. And it was this unit that killed Osama bin Laden in Pakistan on May 2, 2011, long after Marcinko's 1989 retirement

US president Joe Biden will stay at his vacation home in Rehoboth Beach for the 31st time since taking office with First Lady Jill Biden and new first puppy Commander, after the surging Omicron variant of COVID-19 dashed his plans for a post-Christmas vacation in Puerto Rico.
The president spent Christmas at the White House with his extended family and had planned to visit Puerto Rico in a twist on a family tradition of celebrating New Year’s on St. Croix or on Water Island off St. Thomas at a property owned by his brother, Jim Biden.
The Omicron variant of the coronavirus, however, plunged the nation back into crisis with record-high new infections in New York City, DC and other parts of the country

Climate activist Greta Thunberg slammed the Biden administration on climate policy in an interview on Monday, saying that it's "strange" to consider Biden a leader on the issue "when you see what his administration is doing."
🗣 "The U.S. is actually expanding fossil fuel infrastructure," Thunberg told the Washington Post.
The White House also has not followed through on a campaign promise to crack down on new oil and gas leasing on federal lands, instead aiming for reforming the process. Yet, it is also greatly expanding the areas open to renewables, such as offshore wind energy
