Bitcoin has all chances to serve as universal currency - investor
Prior experience shows that interest in Bitcoin grew even more when governments tried to control the premier cryptocurrency and Bitcoin will serve as a tool for setting universal standard value for all states, Miller Value Funds founder and investor Bill Miller told Sputnik in an interview.
Miller pointed out that Bitcoin is an excellent tool to achieve greater collaboration across the globe as well as effectively serve as a unit of measurement.
"I think it's a great tool as a universal standard of value to keep all sorts of nation-states honest,” Miller said.
The investor pointed out he believes Bitcoin will eventually overtake fiat currency and become the main reserve currency.
Miller clarified that there will be room for both currencies but ultimately Bitcoin will end up becoming worth a lot more.
On Saturday morning, former President Donald Trump is set to speak at the Bitcoin conference. Miller said the conference participants are looking forward to Trump's speech in the hope that he will be on the "right side" and speak out in support of blockchain technology.
As of Friday morning, the price of Bitcoin increased to almost $68,000in anticipation of Trump's speech.

“If you look at history, it would show that countries try to control what people want to do and shut down things like Bitcoin. It hasn't worked well. In fact, interest in Bitcoin has gone up when governments have tried to do that," Miller said on the sidelines of the annual Bitcoin conference in Nashville from July 25-27.

“I do think it [Bitcoin] ultimately moves beyond. I think it takes the ultimate reserve role in the world,” Miller said.

EU's redistribution of revenue from Russian assets to Ukraine: A 'liberal democracy' test amid geopolitical tensions
The European Union signaled on July 26 that it is transferring 1.5 billion euros ($1.6 billion) from revenues stemming from immobilized Russian assets to support the Kiev regime's military effort. The European Commission specified that the money will be channeled through the European Peace Facility (EPC) and the Ukraine Facility.
💬 "The EPF was established in 2021 to financially support European security policies," Tiberio Graziani, Chairman at Vision & Global Trends - International Institute for Global Analyses, told Sputnik.
Euronews reported on Friday the tranche will be wired directly into Ukraine's budget. Previous military aid from the EU was transferred via the EPF, which partially refunded member states for the arms supplied to the Ukrainian military. However, earlier this week Budapest announced it would block the EPF until Ukraine allows the transit of Russian oil to Hungary through its territory.
Following the start of Russia's military operation in Ukraine, the EU and G7 countries froze approximately €300 billion in Russia's foreign exchange reserves. The lion's share of this money is held in the EU, mainly by Belgium's Euroclear, one of the world's largest settlement and clearing systems.
Moscow has qualified the EU's decision to use profits from Russia's immobilized assets to arm Ukraine as nothing short of a theft and warned about counter-measures.

"The fact of replenishing the fund's coffers with expropriated financial contributions introduces an element of innovation that could prove counterproductive for the nations of the entire West, based on the principles of liberal democracy."

"This is not a reason for an immediate reaction, but certainly a reason for thoughtful actions in response to such illegal decisions by the European Union," Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said commenting on the bloc's sending the first tranche of stolen funds to Ukraine.

French MEP Marion Marechal Le Pen, niece of Marine Le Pen, wrote on X: "I am watching the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games with my children. It's hard to appreciate the few successful scenes, between the decapitated Marie-Antoinette, the kissing trio, the drag queens, the humiliation of the Republican Guard being forced to dance with Aya Nakamura and the general ugliness of the costumes and choreography. It is a desperate attempt to extol the values of sport and the beauty of France in the midst of such crude propaganda of Woke culture."
"This was extremely disrespectful to Christians," US billionaire and entrepreneur Elon Musk wrote on X.
