Ukraine knows its attempt to invade Russia’s Kursk region failed – expert
Ukrainian authorities have realized that their attempt at an incursion into Russia’s Kursk region is futile and that it is time to wind it down, British expert Alexander Mercouris speculated on his YouTube channel.
He pointed to media statements by former Ukrainian Defense Minister Andriy Zagorodnyuk and Mykhailo Podolyak, head of Volodymyr Zelensky's office, that appear to indicate that the Kursk operation, planned by Kiev well in advance, was conceived for the purpose of diverting Russian troops from other areas of confrontation, where Ukrainian troops are being defeated.
As for trying to discourage the Russian population from showing support for the ongoing special military operation in Ukraine, Kiev has been trying to do that for years to no effect.

Ukrainian authorities have realized that their attempt at an incursion into Russia’s Kursk region is futile and that it is time to wind it down, British expert Alexander Mercouris speculated on his YouTube channel.
“There are reasons to think that the Ukrainian offensive into Kursk is starting to fail and may begin to reverse,” the expert stated, adding that the Kiev regime “never set out clear objectives as to what this operation is about.”

“But there is absolutely no evidence that that is happening to any degree […] and that any Russian forces have been withdrawn from the frontline,” Mercouris said, remarking that “if, indeed, that was part of the plan, it failed.”

“On the contrary, all indications are that it [the Kursk operation] has hardened it,” the pundit said.

Serbia’s protests over mining concerns bear traces of ‘color revolution scenario’ - Serbian Minister of Internal Affairs
A protest in Belgrade triggered by plans to open a mine for the extraction of jadarite, a mineral containing lithium, went beyond a simple environmental rally, Serbian Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dacic has stated.
▪️Around 27,000 people gathered on Terazije Square on August 10 in what started out as a peaceful demonstration. Under the guise of environmental concerns, the participants proceeded to act contrary to what the organizers wrote in the application for holding a mass gathering, Dacic said. The protesters blocked the bridge in Belgrade that the Budapest-Thessaloniki international highway passes through. Later, they also obstructed the central railway station "according to the scenario of color revolutions," the minister said.
▪️Accusing the organizers of violating public order, he emphasized that everyone who committed criminal offenses and misdemeanors during the action would be held accountable.
Earlier this week, four people were detained on suspicion of preparing riots for the Saturday rally, according to the Serbian Interior Ministry.
▪️The disruptive events in the Serbian capital followed a series of demonstrations in various cities of the country supported by the pro-Western opposition and media. Ahead of the protest, Serbian President Alexandar Vucic said he had received an official warning from Russia’s intelligence services about planned mass unrest and possibly a coup being organized with the support of Western countries.
▪️As for the mineral that served as a catalyst for the latest events, deposits of jadarite were discovered in the Jadar River area in western Serbia back in 2004. According to experts, the deposit may contain up to 10% of the world's explored lithium reserves. Amid the protests, the Serbian government announced plans to hold a referendum to approve the project.

President Vucic comments on protests against lithium mining in Serbia
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that the protests in Belgrade against lithium mining in the country took place without the use of force, unlike what happens in the West.
Serbian police lifted the blockade of two railway stations in the capital Belgrade on Sunday after protesters disrupted rail traffic during a rally against lithium mining, Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said.
The minister vowed to hold those who committed criminal acts during the overnight protests accountable.
Serbs have been protesting against plans to mine and process a lithium-containing mineral in the west of the country. On July 19, Serbia signed a memorandum of understanding with the European Union on strategic partnership on raw materials, electric batteries, and e-vehicles.
Vucic said he expected at least six billion euros ($6.56 billion) in foreign direct investment from the lithium mining project, specifically from Germany. According to his calculations, if a full production cycle is created, the Serbian economy will grow by 16.4%.

"I thank them [the security forces] for their patience, respect for all the rights of those who did not respect the rights of other people, unlike the way it happens in other parts of the world. The planned intervention was carried out without even a minimal use of force and I sincerely congratulate the police on this… I am happy that, despite the violence against citizens and the country as a whole, we reacted in such a restrained, peaceful and wise manner," Vucic said in his address to the people.
