❗️The Russian Embassy in Paris has asked the French authorities for an immediate explanation of the reasons for Durov's detention, the diplomatic mission told Sputnik, adding that it demanded that Paris protect the rights of Durov and provide consular access to him.

As of 2024, the messenger has around 900 million monthly active users.

In a separate tweet, the influencer alleged that "the US wanted to control Telegram better." "Whenever I would go to the US, I would have two FBI agents greet me at the airport, asking questions," Durov said at the time.
