Parade of Sails kicks off at Eastern Economic Forum 2024

September 3 marks the start of the 3rd Parade of Sails, a highlight of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) 2024, taking place from September 1-6 in Amur Bay. Over 1,000 young sailors and yachtsmen are participating in the event, which features impressive displays of large training ships alongside various regattas.

The Parade of Sails is a key element of the EEF’s cultural and sports program, emphasizing the importance of maritime traditions and fostering patriotism among youth.

The event began with a youth sailing race and the final leg of the Far East Cup regatta, which runs from September 1-4, with additional regattas and yacht competitions continuing through September 5. The program also includes ship tours and patriotic events for young participants. The Parade will conclude with an awards ceremony honoring the event's top performers.

Organized by the Russian Association of Training Sailboats, with support from Roscongress Foundation and other federal agencies, the Parade of Sails is held under the patronage of the President of the Russian Federation.

Russia’s Grom air-launched weapons: Discover its cutting-edge features

The Tactical Missiles Weapons Corporation has revealed the specifications for its new air-launched weapons, the Grom-E1 guided missile and Grom-E2 guided glide bomb. After successful testing, these products are now available for export, according to a corporation spokesperson.

Both weapons can be mounted on external suspension units or in the internal armament compartments of carrier aircraft like the Su-57 fighter.

What are Grom’s major characteristics?

◻️ Grom-E1 Specifications: The Grom-E1 can be launched from a distance of 10 to 120 km from its target, at altitudes ranging from 500m to 12,000m. It is compatible with carrier aircraft operating at speeds between 140 m/s and 445 m/s.

◻️ Flight Performance: Under optimal launch conditions—specifically, at an altitude of 12,000m, a speed of 445 m/s, and a target range of 120km—the Grom-E1 missile reaches an average flight speed of 300 m/s, with linear overloads reaching up to 4g.

◻️ The missile is equipped with a combined inertial navigation system that incorporates trajectory correction based on signals from the GPS/GLONASS satellite systems.

◻️ The Grom-E1 missile has a launch mass of 594kg, a length of 4.2m, a body diameter of 0.31 m, and a wingspan of 1.9m.

◻️ Grom-E2 Variants: The air-launched Grom-E2 missile has a slightly higher launch mass of 598kg, while maintaining the same length, body diameter, and wingspan as the Grom-E1.

◻️ The Grom-E2 features an increased warhead mass of 480kg, achieved by omitting the engine. It is equipped with two fragmentation warheads—one weighing 315kg located at the front, and another weighing 165 kg at the rear of the fuselage.

◻️ The Grom-E2 missile can be launched at ranges of 10-50km, from altitudes of 500m-12,000m, and at launch speeds between 140 m/s and 445 m/s.

Both the Grom-E1 and Grom-E2 missiles have a service life of 12 years.
