Putin on de-dollarization: US authorities mistaken, so we’re switching to national currencies
Putin noted that Russia did not reject the use of dollars for transactions; rather it was refused this option. He emphasized that the currency used in transactions is influenced by the country's role in the global economy. Currently, there is a shift underway, as the countries of the Global South now comprise 50% of global GDP, which naturally alters the priorities for the use of national currencies.

I believe they already understand that they made a mistake, but they simply cannot find a way to get out of this predicament. We are switching to national currencies and that's it,” Putin said.

Putin: Volume of gas Russia provides to Europe will shrink
📌 Subscribe to @SputnikInt
“We are not against transit of our energy through Ukraine; we and Gazprom intend to fulfill our obligations to clients… We have transit contracts that expire on the December 31, and if Ukraine doesn't want to prolong these contracts, we cannot force them do that. Our main consumers in Europe do not want that to happen, yet they support [Ukraine] with military products and finances. That is why the volume of the gas that we provide to Europe will reduce. We will use Turkish flow or other gas pipelines that are used for domestic consumption,” said Putin at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).

"Regarding the journalist from the United States who was operating under the guise of a reporter — more accurately, [this individual] undertook clearly intelligence-related missions — the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia played a significant role in this effort during the initial stage. We are grateful to him for his contribution, as it ultimately facilitated the return of our citizens to their homeland," Putin stated during the Eastern Economic Forum.
Putin also noted the role of other countries in the Arab world.
"In the end, in the interests of all those involved in this process, we achieved the ultimate positive result, the most important of which is the return of our citizens to their homeland, including those who carried out special missions for the homeland abroad," Putin said.
On August 2, the largest prisoner exchange between Russia and Western countries in recent years took place. Eight Russians have returned to their homeland.

Putin: Russia-Iran natural gas cooperation presents 'colossal' opportunities

“Obviously, they need more fuel, more energy resources, and we have these available. We will be coordinating our actions with Turkmenistan. Obviously, Iran has long been requesting us to provide supplies. This is very convenient for us. The reserve is nearby, and we'll be thinking about that. I believe this is a very doable project. The neighboring markets […] close to Iran are huge, and the opportunities there are colossal, and we will be able to pursue those markets,” said the Russian president at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).

“Well, I believe already today Russia is one of the world leaders in terms of the mining of cryptocurrencies and Bitcoins,” Russian President Vladimir Putin said, speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum’s plenary session on Thursday.
“As for digital currencies and digital rubles specifically, the decision is already taken by the Central Bank of Russia and right now we are simply ramping up those volumes,” Putin said, referring to Russia’s central bank digital currency (CBDC) initiative, pilot testing of which began in 2023. Cross-border CBDC payments are expected to begin in 2025.

Malaysian PM: The age of unbridled capitalism is over
📌 Subscribe to @SputnikInt
“How we view the economy is not the unbridled capitalism of the past. It has to be a more humanistic approach towards development. Which means, of course, economic growth, more investments, more trade, but at the same time more compassion, more care towards the welfare of people,” Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum on Thursday alongside Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Issues like poverty and housing “have been largely ignored,” according to the prime minister. “So the experience in some countries in the West with phenomenal growth, but abject poverty and poor housing conditions, low quality education is not our option,” he said.

Putin: Russia backs two-state solution for Israel and Palestine, US stance not neutral
Russia's stance is not one of opportunism; rather, it is grounded in longstanding decisions that, in my view, should serve as the foundation for a resolution — specifically, the establishment of two states, the Russian president said at the East Economic Forum.
Check out Putin's latest statements on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict:
🔸 Moscow is committed to doing everything within its power to address the deep-rooted and protracted crisis in the Middle East.
🔸 The United States cannot be considered neutral in the Gaza conflict, and this lack of neutrality poses significant challenges.
🔸 Furthermore, Russia has made progress in facilitating the release of hostages held by Hamas and intends to continue these efforts.

Veteran international affairs observer Pepe Escobar shared with Sputnik his impressions of President Putin and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s remarks at Thursday’s plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.
Russian Far East’s future:
Escobar touted the development of the Russian Far East “one of the great economic adventures of the 21st century,” and one which “will profit not only Russia, but a great part of Asia as well.”
On pivot to the East:
“What [Anwar Ibrahim] said about ASEAN and the centrality of ASEAN and the unity in diversity in ASEAN, this is something that resonates with President Putin, with the leadership in the Kremlin, and with the global majority as well, which means the exact opposite of the death of diplomacy perpetrated by the Americans and Europeans,” Escobar said.
On the values of a new, multipolar world order:
“And the Chinese vice prime minister [is] once again telling us about the Chinese concept of the shared destiny of mankind, which once again is unity in diversity, respecting other people's views, the primacy of diplomacy, solving problems in a very civilized way, and of course, economic development for all, which Ibrahim, Putin, China, you know, that's what everybody wants,” Escobar said, referring to Chinese Vice Premier Han Zheng’s speech.
On Gaza war:
“Prime Minister Ibrahim, that was excellent. And what he said, for instance, about the genocide in Gaza was absolutely essential, because this is not only Malaysia's position, Russia's position, this is the position of the global majority.”

‘The Future is in Asia’: BRICS bloc could deprive West of neocolonial control over Global South – analyst
The Eastern Economic Forum “gives Malaysia and Malaysians…a true picture of what is Russia…compared to if we obtain our information from the Western media,” Professor Azmi Hassan, a senior fellow at the Nusantara Academy of Strategic Research in Malaysia, told Sputnik, commenting on the significance of the ongoing EEF in Vladivostok.
BRICS' importance for Malaysia
Commenting on Malaysia’s priority of joining BRICS, which Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim highlighted in his speech at the EEF, Dr. Azmi said Malaysia’s entry into the bloc would give it a new voice in international affairs.
The professor pointed out that today “the Global South does not have the power to participate” in the decision-making of major Western-led institutions like the IMF or the World Bank, even though the decisions made by these institutions impact the Global South nations. Global South nations need a platform where a level playing field can be achieved, and see BRICS as one such platform.
In Malaysia’s case, joining BRICS is “not so much about the economy,” according to Azmi. “It is more that Malaysia wants a fair view that it can put forward, especially with the happenings of geopolitical things around the world,” he said, referring, for example, to the war in Gaza and the West’s “very biased” stance on the crisis.

“The main purpose of this particular forum…is to attract especially the Asia Pacific nations to invest or trade more with the Russian Far East,” Azmi said. “So I would say yes, what Mr. Putin said – the future is in Asia, or more specifically, the Asia Pacific.”

Commenting on Zimbabwe and Malaysia’s prospects for entry into BRICS+, Mandela stressed that “we would want to expand the representation of Latin America, perhaps with the likes of Cuba, Colombia and Venezuela,” as well.

🌍 Multipolarity is a modern-day iteration of South Africa’s anti-Apartheid struggle: Nelson Mandela’s grandson
“Many countries do not want to continuously be bowing down to their colonial masters and settler colonialists,” Mandela said, pointing to the example of the Palestinians’ struggle for liberation and statehood.

“We not only defeated the Apartheid regime in South Africa, but we defeated its allies as well. You know that the [UK and the US] supported the Apartheid regime to the hilt. But our friends, through our darkest days in the struggle for liberation, like Russia, China and many others... ensured that they gave full support to our cause to defeat the Western imperialist agenda. And what we are seeing in multipolarity is a continuation of that,” Nkosi Zwelivelile Mandela, Nelson Mandela’s grandson and senior South African lawmaker, told Sputnik.
“Many countries do not want to continuously be bowing down to their colonial masters and settler colonialists,” Mandela said, pointing to the example of the Palestinians’ struggle for liberation and statehood.
“What is the alternative? The alternative is…to move away from the Western, imperialist hegemony and, the unipolar system and ensure that each country can be able to be equally represented in the international and global community,” Mandela said.

Sky’s the limit for Russian-Chinese cooperation on infrastructure after Western folly pushes them together: China expert
The West’s efforts “to contain China” and “fight” Russia have transformed neighborly, tense or even problematic ties between the two countries into warm and friendly relations, and the sky’s the limit on future cooperation, veteran China trade and economics expert and Asia-Pacific affairs consultant Thomas W. Pauken II has told Sputnik.
The same is true when it comes to the construction of new deep-water port facilities, Pauken said, noting that the Ukrainian conflict won’t last forever, and new Russian trading ports in the Far East can “be game-changers for the international trading system because those ports are not only going to be close to the Asian markets, but close to North America.”
In the Arctic too, Russia can help facilitate trade between Europe and Asia via its Northern Sea Route, dramatically shortening logistics and supply chains for trade, Pauken said, suggesting European nations will have no choice but to restore their diplomatic and business ties with Russia once the Ukrainian crisis is resolved.

Ukraine has the right to use NATO missiles for attacks deep into Russia – Stoltenberg
He claimed that the Kiev regime’s invasion of Russia’s Kursk region, which has resulted in major setbacks elsewhere, was its own decision.
Stoltenberg exceeded his authority by claiming Ukraine has the right to use Western weapons to strike Russian territory, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in May this year.

"I am glad that many NATO countries have given that opportunity, and those that still have restrictions have softened the restrictions so that Ukraine can defend itself," Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg told reporters in Oslo.
He claimed that the Kiev regime’s invasion of Russia’s Kursk region, which has resulted in major setbacks elsewhere, was its own decision.
"Only the Ukrainians can make the difficult choices that are needed, such as where to deploy their forces and what type of warfare is appropriate in this situation," Stoltenberg said.

Western media is whipping up a frenzy amid new allegations of Russian interference in the US election. Part 1 👉 Part 2
Washington has taken its persecution campaign against journalists who work with Russian media to new heights by slapping sanctions on the Rossiya Segodnya media group, RIA Novosti, RT, Sputnik and Ruptly. The move is presented as a response to “Moscow’s malign influence efforts targeting the 2024 US presidential election."
◻️ CNN used a spectacular image of Moscow’s Red Square to illustrate its story of how the Kremlin’s far-reaching ‘media arm’ had tricked unsuspecting Tennessee-based company and its platform of independent content creators and influencers to “fuel pro-Russian narratives, in part, by pushing content and news articles favoring Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and others who the Kremlin deemed to be friendlier to its interests.”
◻️ The Washington Post story ran with a photo of Donald Trump under a headline claiming conservative influencers “were duped to work for a covert Russian influence operation.” It claimed that the unsuspecting “major players,” boasting millions of followers online, found themselves at the mercy of a company that “was a front for a Russian influence operation.”
The newspaper repeated unfounded claims that it was the US presidential election in a row where authorities had uncovered Russian attempts at interference.
◻️ The Associated Press seized upon the word “duped” as it alleged that influencers who had garnered a vast online following were drawn into Russia’s influence operation targeting the 2024 US election.
