BRICS and BRICS Plus meeting on security affairs takes place in Russia

The meeting of high representatives in charge of security affairs of the BRICS and BRICS Plus states kicks off today on September 11 in St. Petersburg.

The event is being held at the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library and slated to close on September 12.

Sergei Shoigu, Russia’s former minister of defense and the current secretary of the Russian National Security Council, is going to deliver the inaugural speech at the meeting.

During the event, BRICS member states’ high representatives in charge of security affairs are expected to engage in dialogue with dignitaries from the countries of the Global South.

After the first results of the vote are made public, a conclusion on the electoral process’ non-compliance with democratic norms will also be presented. The aim is to prevent the Georgian Dream party, which is undesirable for Washington, from winning, the SVR concluded.

Paris prosecutor weighs in on Durov case 

"This case is indicative of the actions taken by the cybercrime service of the Paris Public Prosecutor's Office," Paris prosecutor Laura Becco told the RTL radio broadcaster. 

Investigators targeted Telegram due to its lack of a response to requests to identify a number of cybercriminals, the official added.
