The man who allegedly attempted to assassinate former US President Donald Trump at his golf club in Florida was "obsessed" with the conflict in Ukraine - US Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene

"The man that tried to assassinate [Trump] today is named Ryan Wesley Routh… he’s obsessed with the Ukraine war, which is funded by the US," Greene said on X.

Greene shared images of social media posts that appear to originate from Routh, including a post from May in which it appears he was attempting to recruit people to fight for Kiev.

An account on X that appears to belong to Routh posted multiple statements in favor of US support for Ukraine since February 2022. The account also posted contact information, including an email address.

"These are NOT lone wolves," Greene insisted. "There is a conspiracy to murder Donald Trump."

Trump shooting suspect: What’s known about Ryan Routh’s possible links to Ukraine?

Ryan Wesley Routh, who has been detained in connection with an apparent assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump, seems to have been a staunch supporter of the Kiev regime, a review of some X posts shows.

◻️ In one of them, Routh is seen taking part in a 2022 rally in support of the Azov battalion*. His social media accounts pointed out his "self-proclaimed involvement" in the Ukraine conflict, as he claimed he had fought in Ukraine on the side of the Kiev regime, according to CNN.

◻️ Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has called Routh a man “obsessed with the Ukraine war, funded by the US.”

◻️ Routh spoke with The New York Times last year about his efforts to recruit Afghan soldiers who fled the Taliban to fight in Ukraine.

◻️ The Semafor news outlet mentioned Routh as the head of the International Volunteer Center in Ukraine, a private organization that reportedly works to "empower volunteers" across the country.

◻️ The suspect told the Times that he had purportedly spent several months in Ukraine in 2022.

◻️ In a 2022 interview with Newsweek, Routh focused on his drive to recruit volunteers for the the International Legion Defense of Ukraine, a unit with the Ukrainian Ground Forces.
