“Israel was carpet bombing multiple villages in south Lebanon, they bombed civilians and killed about 300 people. When people were trying to evacuate, they bombed the roads too,” said Sara Rammal, a Beirut-based designer, describing the devastation in southern Lebanon.
Rammal shared that her family had to flee the south, while many friends remain trapped. With no government support, locals have stepped in, creating shelters and offering homes to the displaced, as “some even made a website and WhatsApp groups as references for all the shelters and houses”.
"In Beirut, everyone is preparing an emergency plan because the IDF is bombing everything, and civilians are more in danger than anyone else," she noted, adding that bombings continue to spread, forcing her to cancel all work projects.
Earlier in the day, the Emergency Situations Center of the Lebanese Ministry of Health said the Israeli airstrikes on settlements in southern Lebanon killed 492 people, including 35 children and 58 women, with 1645 citizens injured.

Trump said “salesman Zelensky” wants the Democrats to win the US presidential election for the sake of billions of dollars in aid to Kiev. He once again offered peace talks as an alternative plan.
“As president-elect, if I win this election, the first thing I'm going to do is call up Zelensky and call up President Putin, and I'm going to say, you've got to make a deal. This is crazy,” Trump emphasized.

'Israel is dying from a thousand cuts': hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel accelerate
Israel and Hezbollah have now entered a stage in their nearly year-long conflict that reports say is verging on a full-out war. The IDF said that about 150 rockets, missiles and other projectiles were fired onto its territory overnight on Saturday and early Sunday. Thousands of Israelis took cover in bomb shelters as a result, as homes near Haifa were destroyed.
A mysterious string of attacks on Hezbollah members’ communication devices left thousands of people injured across Lebanon and Syria on Tuesday. The attacks also killed 37 people according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, and are suspected to be the responsibility of the Mossad, Israel’s national intelligence agency.

Thousands of Israelis took cover in bomb shelters as a result, as homes near Haifa were destroyed.
“[Israel is] dying from a thousand cuts, and that is actually the strategy by the Iranians and Hezbollah is to drag it out because Israel is not accustomed to long-term battles like this. And they see the economy as going h*** in a handbasket. And you've got very disgruntled Israelis internally and you've got feuding going on within the government. At some point, things are just going to collapse as long as they can prolong this thing,” Michael Maloof, a former senior security policy analyst with the Office of the Secretary of Defense, told Sputnik’s The Final Countdown.

“I think what's going to happen here is that Hezbollah is going to ratchet up on a daily basis now. Their missiles are deep, deep in silos, like 90 feet,” Maloof explained. “And the fact is that they have not implemented them yet. Plus, Hezbollah has a history of deception. They are good at, and they've seen this from their experiences in the 2006 war.”

West shooting selves in foot with militarism, economic policy driving mass migration
Author and independent journalist Dan Lazare claims Western politicians have no one but themselves to blame for an influx of migrants, pointing the finger at decades of militarism and failed drug and economic policies.
An inundation of migrants from the Eastern European country has intensified debates already taking place throughout the continent over immigration, with some observers resenting limited stocks of housing and social benefits going to Ukrainian refugees.

Author and independent journalist Dan Lazare claims Western politicians have no one but themselves to blame for an influx of migrants, pointing the finger at decades of militarism and failed drug and economic policies.
“She's a social democrat – therefore left-wing by American standards – but she is fiercely anti-Russian,” Lazare said of Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on Sputnik’s The Critical Hour program. “She has backed the US military effort every step of the way. And she is now calling for Ukraine to be supplied with medium-range missiles with which to strike deep into Russia.”
“She's also taking a strong stance against immigration,” the journalist noted. “Mainly from the Middle East, of course, but what's amazing is that the worse the war gets in Ukraine – and these medium-range missiles will make it a good deal worse – the more refugees it will send fleeing to countries like Denmark.”
An inundation of migrants from the Eastern European country has intensified debates already taking place throughout the continent over immigration, with some observers resenting limited stocks of housing and social benefits going to Ukrainian refugees.
“She is shooting herself in the foot,” Lazare said of Frederiksen’s support for the Ukraine proxy war. “She is supporting a war which generates refugees who, when they finally make their way to Denmark, are angering growing numbers of citizens who are afraid of what the influx means and fueling the rise of the ultra-right. This is amazingly foolish on her part, but yet she is doing it. She's like an automaton who's marching off the edge of a cliff.”

China urges win-win cooperation as US sees zero-sum game
The People’s Republic of China continues to seek mutually beneficial partnerships with the United States and the rest of the world but US leaders are committed to seeing the Asian country’s rise as a challenge to its hegemony, according to writer and peace activist KJ Noh.
Beijing has increasingly sought to pursue economic development that provides tangible benefits for partnered countries, building high speed rail and other projects through its Belt and Road Initiative [BRI]. The program seeks to reestablish trade patterns of the historical Silk Road, building infrastructure that helps neighboring countries develop while also enhancing trade with China.

“The Chinese want win-win relations,” Noh noted, using a term that is frequently employed in official Chinese public statements. “They want mutually beneficial relations and they believe that this can be done. And it's not simply a policy. It is actually the way the economic system works if you have good mutual equitable relations.”
“I give you something you need, you give me something I need and we both get efficiencies from that. Or I give you something and that helps you develop something, which helps me develop something and we create this kind of knowledge or technical or scientific common. Win-win is how the human species developed. It's how human societies developed and what the US wants to do is it wants to turn it into zero-sum. Win-lose or, rather, you lose, we must win.”

“It is no longer acceptable that only a few countries dominate world economic development, control economic rules, and enjoy development fruits,” read a recent statement. “The BRI targets development… for the world at large.”

Ukraine and supporters need to face reality - Czech President
Ukraine has to be "realistic" and accept that some territory could remain Russian, said President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel, the New York Times reports.
Despite being one of the most zealous supporters of Ukraine, Pavel stressed that the fatigue of 31 months of conflict is “growing everywhere.”
The Czech Republic, along with Poland and the Baltic States, has been an obstinate supporter of Ukraine, but is now facing increasing public pressure to scale back its aid and encourage Ukraine to pursue a deal with Russia, the article reads.
According to a summer STEM opinion poll, nearly two-thirds of Czechs would favor a swift end to the conflict in Ukraine, even if it means leaving some territory with Russia.
A previous survey revealed that 54 percent were against supplying weapons to Ukraine under the Czech Ammunition Initiative. This multibillion-dollar program, overseen by the Czech defense ministry and financed by Germany and other EU nations, has supplied Ukraine with hundreds of thousands of artillery shells sourced by Czech arms dealers.

Literally no one wants to buy Zelensky's villa in Italy
Vladimir Zelensky's villa in the Italian town of Forte dei Marmi was put up for sale, but no buyer was found, a local real estate agency told Sputnik.
In September 2021, a villa in Tuscany owned by Zelensky's family was put up for sale for 4.5 million euros. A year later, local mass media wrote that the villa had been rented to a Russian couple living in London. Estate agents called the report a fake and said in a commentary that the owners of the house had made it impossible to rent it to Russians.

The IDF said they had struck “dozens of Hezbollah targets in numerous areas in southern Lebanon” and the Lebanese militant group launched multiple barrages in the early hours of September 24, which marked the two’s latest cross-border attacks in their most intense confrontation in nearly two decades.
In other developments:
◻️ Hezbollah said it had fired multiple rocket barrages into the Ramat David airbase, the Meggido airfield, and the Amos base, which are all located in the vicinity of the town of Afula in northern Israel.
◻️ The IDF made it clear that they are preparing for “next phases” following the Israeli military’s September 23 strikes, which killed at least 492 people and injured more than 1,645, according to Lebanon's Health Ministry.
How do the world's countries react?
◻️ The US is meanwhile sending number of additional troops to the Middle East "out of an abundance of caution," with President Joe Biden saying that Washington is working “to de-escalate” the situation.
◻️ Speaking to CNN, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian specifically stressed the need “to prevent the ongoing criminal acts being committed by Israel” and “not allow for Lebanon to become another Gaza at the hands of Israel.” He added that Hezbollah “cannot stand alone against a country that is being defended, supported and supplied” by the West and the US.
◻️ Other world leaders struck the same tone, with Jordan’s King Abdullah II affirming his country’s “absolute support for Lebanon, […] and the safety of its citizens in the face of Israel’s war on it.”
◻️ UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, in turn, urged Israel and Hezbollah to stop fighting immediately as world leaders meet at a UN General Assembly session in New York.
◻️ During the gathering, France requested an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council to address the strikes in Lebanon, per French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot.
