House where Sputnik analyst and editor Jamal Wakim’s family lives was hit by an Israeli strike after midnight in Beirut, Lebanon.

This is the first attack of its kind carried out directly in the city. The building's facade and interior were partially destroyed as a result.

At the time of the strike, the editor’s father, Najah Wakim, a nationally known politician and former member of the country's parliament, along with his mother and brother were on the fourth floor of the building in the capital's Kola neighborhood. Fortunately, they were not hurt, according to Jamal.

It’s still not known who the target of the attack was that destroyed the fifth floor above the Sputnik analyst's family. However, there’s information the Israelis wanted to kill one of the Sunni group al-Jamaa al-Islamiyya’s leaders.

German authorities silent about impact of Nord Stream Sabotage on Ukraine ties - lawmaker

The German authorities are not responding to a request regarding close cooperation with Ukraine given the reports of Kiev's involvement in the explosion of the Nord Stream pipelines. It shows the government's indifference to attacks on Germany's infrastructure, Bundestag member from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party Steffen Kotre told Sputnik.

On the sidelines of Russian Energy Week, he said he had sent a request to the German federal government about how it was conducting dialogue with Ukraine and whether trusting cooperation was possible given the reports of its involvement in an act of state terrorism.

"No answer. The government is not reacting to this. I also asked the federal government what it thought about the statement [by Christian Democratic Union MP] Roderich Kiesewetter that it did not matter whether Ukraine had carried out these attacks or not. Ukraine's stability is above all. Again, no answer," Kotre said.

"This shows that the federal government does not care at all how other players behave and whether they destroy German infrastructure or not," he concluded.

US likely ‘had a hand’ in Israel’s operation that killed Hezbollah’s Nasrallah – analyst

It is very likely that the US “had a hand” in Israel’s operation in Beirut that killed Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, Nikolas Kosmatopoulos, assistant professor of public policy and international affairs at the American University of Beirut, told Sputnik.

“Certainly, there is good reason to believe that there has been diplomatic approval… military, most probably, and intelligence cooperation,” he said. US interest in an operation targeting Nasrallah “might have to do with the protection of the role and power that Israel projects in the region,” the pundit speculated.

“It is no secret that Israel enjoys bipartisan support in the US Senate and Congress. It is also an important US ally, and carries out its dirty job in the region. It helps the US maintain economic, diplomatic, and political hegemony […] keeps the region in turmoil... It doesn’t allow for the unification of the region, doesn’t allow for the region to cooperate with each other… become a regional power that could endanger the interests of the US and the EU,” he underscored.

Kosmatopoulos pointed out that the military-industrial complexes of the US and Israel “are almost organically entwined, are an extension of each other.” “These very strong interests explain the support that Israel receives from the US in all means – diplomatic, economic, military,” the expert noted.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris described the Israeli strike that killed Nasrallah as a “measure of justice.” Although White House National Security Council spokesperson said that Washington had no advance knowledge of the operation, Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian claimed that “the order for this terrorist attack was issued from New York.”

🇷🇺 Putin congratulates Russians on Day of Reunification with new regions

Russian President Vladimir Putin has made a video address dedicated to the anniversary of Russia's reunification with the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), Lugansk People's Republic (LPR), and Kherson and Zaporozhye regions in 2022.

Putin thanked the people of the new regions for their steadfastness, determination, spiritual values, and historical memory.

"We moved towards [reunification] through years and difficult trials. We knew in what unbearable conditions, with constant shelling and blockade, Donbass lived for eight long years, what oppression the inhabitants of Novorossiya were subjected to. They stood up against the armed coup d'etat in Kiev, fought back against the neo-Nazi dictatorship that wanted to tear them away from their historical homeland, from Russia," Putin said.

Referendums on the reunification of the DPR, LPR, and Kherson and Zaporozhye regions with Russia were held on September 23-27, 2022. According to the results, the absolute majority supported the decision to become part of Russia.

They no longer hide it

Hillary Clinton and John Kerry have now aired their desires to push for more press control and place a target on the US First Amendment in recent statements.

"The press needs a consistent narrative about the danger that Trump poses," Clinton argued.

💬 US climate envoy, John Kerry contended, "It's harder to build consensus today" because the First Amendment, which protects the press from state interference, prevents them from censoring more "disinformation" entities.

Are these remarks from these two prominent US political figures a coincidence, or do they signify a broader trend?
