US "determined to have regime change" in Iran as Israel delays strikes - analyst
This month, Vice President Kamala Harris said during an interview that Iran is one of America’s “greatest adversaries.” She then said that the US needs to ensure that “Iran never achieves the ability to be a nuclear power, that is one of my highest priorities.”
While Harris made the claim that Iran is pursuing nuclear power, CIA Director Williams Burns told a security conference that their organization did “not see evidence today that the supreme leader has reversed the decision that he took at the end of 2003 to suspend the weaponization program.”

“[Harris] said that Iran was America's chief enemy. That’s… very, very important. And, as I've been saying all along, the US regards the Persian Gulf as the key to world control. It is increasingly angry at Iran for disrupting American control to any degree whatsoever. And it is determined to have regime change. And the longer the situation goes on, the more determined the US becomes,” said Daniel Lazare, an independent investigative journalist and author who joined Sputnik’s The Critical Hour on Friday.

Hungary's Szijjarto unaware of alleged assassination attempt on Orban
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said in an interview with RIA Novosti that he was not aware of the assassination attempt on Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
Earlier, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin revealed that Belgrade had received information that an assassination attempt was being prepared on Orban because of his position on Ukraine.
According to Szijjarto, Brussels is withholding tens of billions of euros owed to Hungary because of Budapest's position on Ukraine, migration issues and gender propaganda.
Earlier, Orban said that Brussels was "not the boss of Hungary" and that the country would continue to defend its own point of view when discussing pan-European decisions. According to Orban, Hungary is not one of those countries that agrees to all of Brussels' demands, so Budapest will not supply weapons and allocate money to Ukraine, let migrants into the country or allow propaganda of sexual minorities in Hungarian schools.

"Well, I don't know about such an attempt. But what I know about is that there are countinious attacks on us — and on the prime minister as well — in the legal, in financial and in political terms. On the prime minister, on the government, on the country," Szijjarto clarified.
According to Szijjarto, Brussels is withholding tens of billions of euros owed to Hungary because of Budapest's position on Ukraine, migration issues and gender propaganda.
"So legal, financial and political attacks are continuous on us for sure. About assassination attempt I have no information," he added.

Iran's UN mission denies awareness of Hamas attack on Israel
The Iranian mission to the UN has commented on a New York Times report that claimed Tehran had been aware of Palestinian movement Hamas' plans to attack Israel on October 7, 2023, saying Iran was unaware of the attack and that the media was relying on fabricated documents.
Earlier, The New York Times reported, citing documents, that Hamas had been planning a major attack on Israel in the fall of 2022, but had postponed the attack in order to allegedly secure support from Iran and Lebanese Shia movement Hezbollah.

🥴 ‘Deficiencies, gaps and inconsistencies’: Navy SEALs floundering raid on Houthi vessel revealed
The details of a botched raid by the US Navy SEALs on a Houthi vessel earlier this year that resulted in the death of two commandos have finally been revealed as a scathing report documents multiple failures that contributed to the mishap.
The incident occurred off the coast of Somalia earlier this year as the United States struggles to respond to the armed group’s blockade of the Red Sea in response to Israel’s ongoing military operation in Gaza.
The SEALs were attempting to uphold the United States’ own blockade against equipment being shipped to the armed resistance group when they tried to board the vessel during a nighttime operation in January. The two SEALs – one of them carrying equipment weighing 48 pounds and the other carrying gear weighing 80 pounds – drowned under the weight of their equipment as their floatation devices seemingly failed to deploy.
The US has been ultimately unsuccessful in halting the Houthis’ blockade, which has resulted in significant economic damage to Israel.

The details of a botched raid by the US Navy SEALs on a Houthi vessel earlier this year that resulted in the death of two commandos have finally been revealed as a scathing report documents multiple failures that contributed to the mishap.
“This incident, marked by systemic issues, was preventable," said Vice Adm. George M. Wikoff of the “complex boarding” operation that attempted to halt a shipment of arms to Houthi fighters in Yemen.

“There is no doubt the act of boarding a… vessel is dangerous and can elevate in risk depending on the factors of the mission,” the report read. “Deficiencies, gaps and inconsistencies in doctrine, tactics, techniques and procedures created missed opportunities for safeguards that could have decreased the likelihood for this incident.”

One-fifth of Gen Z Americans defend Hitler amid scourge of Western pro-Nazi sentiment - poll
A poll has revealed that more than one in five young adults in the United States defend German leader Adolf Hitler in a stunning demonstration of the spread of pro-Nazi sympathies in the Western world.
The survey conducted by the polling firm J.L. Partners and sponsored by the British tabloid The Daily Mail asked likely American voters whether they believed the notorious Nazi dictator had some “good ideas” or was “evil and had no redeeming features.” A full 21% of respondents between the ages of 18 and 29 agreed Hitler had good ideas, while another 20% claimed they were unsure.
The Daily Mail noted that Hitler was responsible for the deaths of millions of children during his genocidal march across Europe. An estimated 2.8 million Soviet children died during World War II as well as 1.5 million Jewish children and thousands of Romani children and German minors with physical and mental disabilities.
The Soviet Union bore the brunt of Nazi brutality, with an estimated 27 million Soviet citizens dying during the conflict. The fascist leader killed some 6 million Jews in a systematic program of mass extermination known as the Holocaust along with hundreds of thousands of Serbs, Poles, national and religious minorities.

Germany reportedly snubbed Ukraine’s demands for Taurus missiles and expedited NATO membership
Berlin snubbed two key demands that Zelensky has peddled during his European tour as part of his so-called “victory plan”: to green-light strikes deep into Russian territory (which would require German Taurus missiles, among others), and fast-track NATO membership for Ukraine, reported Bild.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz did not deliver a categorical "no", but there was no positive answer either, stressed the outlet.
Furthermore, the Chancellor’s tub-thumping about the promised “billions in aid for Ukraine” at a press conference with Zelensky, was nothing but a hoax, said Bild.
That package does not include any new weapons since the amount and projects mentioned were in fact "already approved and financed last year."
Kiev’s hopes of getting more Leopard 2 tanks have been dashed despite the Bundeswehr still having around 300 of its main battle tanks in its inventory, the outlet stated. The same reportedly applies to infantry fighting vehicles and tank howitzers as well.
The decision comes as the German Defense Ministry does not believe that the Kiev regime is capable of pulling off a counteroffensive in the foreseeable future, the sources told the outlet.
Furthermore, with the US election drawing nearer, President Joe Biden has used Hurricane Milton as an excuse to pull out from the Ramstein meeting on military support for Kiev, added the report.
Germany, Ukraine's second-largest military donor after the US, has so far provided, or committed for future years, military assistance at a value of approximately 28 billion euros. However, compared to this year, it has halved its military aid to Ukraine for 2025, according to the budgetary draft.
Moscow has repeatedly warned of the danger of the Ukrainian conflict turning into a hot war with NATO if the latter permits the use of its long-range strike systems to attack Russia.

“By the end of the year, with the support of Belgium, Denmark, and Norway, we will deliver another package to Ukraine worth €1.4 billion,” Scholz announced on October 11. According to him, the package includes IRIS-T and Skynex air defense systems, Gepard anti-aircraft guns, self-propelled artillery systems, armored vehicles, combat drones, and radars.

Canada’s dissenting Liberal MPs seek to topple Trudeau
A faction of disgruntled lawmakers from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s own governing Liberal Party is coordinating efforts to oust him as their leader, reported CBC News.
Trudeau has been teetering on the ropes since the humiliating by-election loss of two strongholds in Toronto (to the Conservatives) and Montreal (to Bloc Québécois).
Pressure to relinquish his hold on the Liberal Party has also grown amid his government’s free fall in the polls. At 41.6%, Pierre Poilievre and his Conservative Party are more than 20 points ahead of the Liberal Party, as reflected in numbers released by Nanos Research earlier in the month.
The top issues of concern for Canadians remain the soaring cost of living, housing affordability, skyrocketing prices and immigration.
Last month, the New Democratic Party (NDP) pulled the plug on its support for Trudeau, exiting a 2022 "supply and confidence" deal. The arrangement had offered confidence votes to the PM’s minority government, in exchange for support on key issues.
Despite being decimated in the polls, Trudeau has dug in, saying he is "not going anywhere."
The Liberal government has already survived two non-confidence votes. The Liberals, NDP and Bloc Quebecois voted against a Conservative motion that called for MPs to declare they have lost faith in Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his nine-year-old government several weeks ago.
The mandate for Trudeau's government expires at the end of October 2025, and media reports have made no bones about the Liberals' defeat at the next general election.
