"On certain issues, yes, we are developing a greater candor and honesty with one another. I think our conversation regarding terrorism is also more honest than it was before," he added, noting that more trust-building is needed on such issues as women's rights.

Statistics show nearly 50 deaths from trains over the last eight months, the New York Post reported on Saturday.

42 of them were caused by what the service calls “collisions” with trains, and another five incidents involved people who fell on the tracks or came into contact with the third one, which carries 625 volts of electricity.

On 15 January a deranged homeless man shoved Michelle Go in front of a train at the Times Square station. After the deadly incident, officials led by Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine called for the MTA to push forward with subway platform gates, which open when trains arrive and close when they leave. Transport authorities said in turn that the station, as well as another 344 of the subway’s 472 stations, is too narrow for the gates.

😡 ’It’s all blocked off for one f**king cop’

NYC actress Jacqueline Guzman was fired after she ranted about street closures during the funeral of rookie cop Jason Rivera, who was fatally shot while on duty the previous week.

“We do not need to shut down most of Lower Manhattan because one cop died for probably doing his job incorrectly”, she says in a now-deleted TikTok. “They kill people who are under 22 every single day for no good reason and we don't shut down the city for them, so”.

“What if someone having a heart attack in this area?” Guzman went on. “No one can get to them because it's all blocked off for one f**king cop”.

The reaction was swift: while people online called the now-viral rant disrespectful, Guzman’s theatre company said they let the actress go following the “insensitive” video.

☝️ The University of Nebraska has slightly changed its “Herbie Husker” mascot to avoid possible links to white supremacists, Flatwater Free Press has reported.

The university’s Herbie Husker, a farmer in a cowboy hat, had been gesturing “OK” for around 50 years. But he won’t do it anymore — the mascot is now holding up a finger in a ‘No. 1’ sign.

Lonna Henrichs, the university’s director of licensing and branding, says that the old gesture “could, in some circles, represent something that does not represent what Nebraska athletics is about”.

”We just didn’t even want to be associated with portraying anything that somebody might think, you know, that it means white power”, she adds.
