🚙 Congress is still spinning its wheels on autonomous vehicle regulation

Congress held its first hearing on autonomous vehicles in over two years, and there was not a lot to show for it. At the end of the four-and-a-half-hour event, there was no indication that lawmakers were any closer to a consensus on how best to regulate this rapidly emerging technology.

AV legislation has been stalled in Congress for over five years now, with lawmakers unable to reconcile differences over proposals to increase the number of autonomous vehicles on the road while prohibiting states from setting their own performance standards.

A new set of concerns has risen in the interim, including the need to protect workers displaced by automation and to differentiate between advanced driver assistance systems and AVs. Democrats objected to green-lighting the mass rollout of robot vehicles without stringent safety and liability rules.

🏦 The move toward a digital dollar gains steam as Boston Fed says its prototype can handle 1.7 million transactions per second

The creation of a government-backed cryptocurrency took a major step forward on Thursday following the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston’s data on the technological viability of a Fed-backed digital dollar, also known as a central bank digital currency. The prototype is said to be able to process over 2.5 times the number of transactions Visa can handle on its network.

A successful rollout of the US-backed central bank digital currency will likely see resistance from bitcoin purists, who see decentralized bitcoin as the means to overthrow the monetary power of central banks and governments. The Biden administration recommended that Congress pass legislation requiring stablecoins to be issued by a bank insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and overseen by federal banking regulators.

🛥 Pier pressure? Dutch city to dismantle historic bridge to accommodate Jeff Bezos’ new yacht

A Dutch city has agreed to spend weeks taking down a historic bridge so Jeff Bezos’ gigantic new superyacht can reach the open seas this summer.

The Amazon founder’s 417-foot, three-masted ship that cost roughly $500 million is under construction in the Netherlands; however, the pleasure barge is too tall to pass under Rotterdam’s landmark Koningshaven Bridge, which reportedly has a 130-foot clearance.

As a work-around, the megabillionaire and the boatmaker Oceano reportedly asked Rotterdam officials to temporarily dismantle the iconic bridge, pledging to reimburse the city for expenses. Bezos’ Y721 superyacht will be one of the largest sailing vessels ever built in the Netherlands.

Facebook and Big Tech are seeking to destroy the Freedom Convoy of Truckers. The Freedom Convoy is peacefully protesting the harsh policies of far left lunatic Justin Trudeau who has destroyed Canada with insane Covid mandates. Now, thankfully, the Freedom Convoy could be coming to DC with American Truckers who want to protest Biden's ridiculous Covid policies. Facebook is canceling the accounts of Freedom Convoy USA, and GoFundMe is denying access to funds that belong to the Freedom Convoy. This is unacceptable and extremely dangerous in any country that values free expression. TruthSocial is free expression. TruthSocial is announcing today that we are welcoming the Freedom Convoy with open arms to communicate freely on TruthSocial when we launch coming very soon! TruthSocial will fight back against Big Tech so we can protect our rights to free expression. Also, on top of everything, it is big news that Facebook daily users went down for the first time ever, people are tired of biased social media like Twitter and Facebook, and it's showing in their numbers!

🇺🇸🇦🇫The Pentagon released findings of its probe of the Kabul airport suicide bombing in August that killed 170 Afghan civilians and 13 US service members. The US also released related drone footage, body cam clips, and photos.

🔹The investigation concluded there was only one blast by the Islamic State-Khorasan (terrorist group, banned in Russia) suicide bomber, and no one was killed by gunfire from US or Afghan troops.

🔹The probe also found no evidence indicating the Taliban (under UN sanctions over terrorist activities) knew about the IS-K suicide attack ahead of time.
