❗️Riots targeting Israeli soccer fans in Amsterdam: What is known so far?

Israeli fans of the Maccabi Tel Aviv soccer team were reportedly attacked in Amsterdam in hours-long riots. The Dutch capital was hosting the team’s Europa League match against AFC Ajax.

◻️ Hundreds of fans of the Israeli soccer team Maccabi Tel Aviv “were ambushed and attacked in Amsterdam” on Thursday night while leaving the stadium following a Europa League game against Dutch side Ajax, the Israeli Embassy in the United States said on the X social media platform.

◻️ Ten citizens were injured and two people were missing, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar said. He advised citizens to remain in their hotels.

◻️ Ahead of the match, Spain’s AS newspaper reported that a pro-Palestinian group was planning to protest outside the stadium. It was reported that in addition to Maccabi’s regular security, Mossad agents would join the team to provide additional protection.

◻️ In videos posted on social media, Israeli Maccabi fans are seen being attacked in several locations in the city after attending the match. Footage shows fans being beaten and chased, with some barricading themselves in stores and buildings. Other videos show Israelis jumping into canals to avoid the rioters.

◻️ According to local authorities, the situation has calmed down in the last hour, with Israelis instructed to shelter in place.

💬 Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered two emergency flights to be sent to evacuate Israelis from the Netherlands.

💬 Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said that he was in constant contact with the Israel police, who have been coordinating with Dutch law enforcement to “rescue the Israeli citizens, and to investigate the serious lynching incidents in the Netherlands.”

💬 Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett posted on X to say Israeli tourists were being attacked “in a way that seems life-threatening.”

💬 Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon called for the UN to condemn the pogrom, writing: "This is the time when the UN should immediately and clearly condemn the violence of the Palestinians and their supporters. The Dutch authorities must take decisive action against terrorism now."

💬 Israel’s National Security Council has issued a new warning to Israelis and Jews in the Netherlands, stating: “Avoid movements in the street and lock yourself in hotel rooms. The externalization of Israeli and Jewish symbols must be avoided.”

📹 Bombing of Gaza City’s eastern neighborhoods kills nine

Civil defense forces pulled the bodies of the wounded and dead, including women and children, from under the rubble of the Hamada family home after it was bombed in the al-Daraj neighbourhood, killing nine people.

Local media reported that the Hamada family had been completely wiped out.

Houthis reportedly knock another US drone out of the sky, launch missile at Israel

Houthi fighters have reportedly shot down another MQ-9 Reaper drone, this one over al-Jawf province in Yemen’s north, with footage posted to social media early Friday morning showing flaming wreckage falling out of the sky and starting a large fire on the ground in the dead of night as onlookers inspect the unmanned aerial vehicle's remains.

The US military acknowledged to the Associated Press that it had seen the footage, and said it was investigating the incident, without offering any further details.

The Houthis have now shot down as many as ten of the $32 mln apiece US reconnaissance and strike drones since November 2023, or thirteen if counting US losses going back to 2017.

The militia has a surprisingly large array of air defense systems at their disposal, including upgrades to Soviet-era Kub, Dvina, Neva/Pechora and Strela-1 SAMs, and allegedly, derivatives of Iranian-designed systems.

Missile attack

Separately Friday, the Houthis had launched a “hypersonic ballistic missile from Yemen at a vital target in the Negev Desert in southern Israel.” a source told Sputnik.

The source did not elaborate on the missile’s characteristics or its target, but the Negev is known to be the home to some of Israel’s most important airbases, including Nevatim, which hosts the country’s fleet of F-35I jets, and Hatzerim, home to F-15I series aircraft. The United States military is also known to host a top-secret radar facility atop Mount Har Qeren in the Negev known as Site 512.

The Houthis unveiled what they said was a two-stage, solid-fuel hypersonic missile with a range of 2,150 km known as the Palestine-2 in September, and said the weapon can reach speeds up to Mach 16, and features stealth technology. Multiple Houthi missiles and drones have pierced Israel’s powerful air defenses since the militia began its campaign against Tel Aviv last November.
