Unlocking USAID chief’s treasure chest: How exactly did Samantha Power get her millions?

DOGE chief Elon Musk has questions for ex-USAID boss Samantha Power about how she “accumulate[d] wealth…100 times her after tax salary” amid reports that her net worth soared from $6.7M to $30M+ during her 2021-Jan 2025 tenure.

🔸 USAID’s top salaries range from $180-212k a year, for a four-year total of $720-848k.

🔸 InsideBidensBasement.org, a nonprofit compiling disclosures of officials involved in Washington’s ‘revolving door’ of politics, special interest groups and business, estimates Powers’ net worth to range from $10.1-$30.3M.

🔸 TheRevolvingDoorProject.org, another nonprofit, listed $471k in income from Power’s work as a Harvard prof after her tenure as Obama’s UN ambassador.

🔸 The nonprofit’s 2021 data listed $351k in income from speaking engagements with firms and banks like Nestle, Google and UBS, plus $1M+ in book royalties.

🔸 Most interestingly, the nonprofit reported up to $11.73M in “assorted investment vehicles,” including BlackRock, J&J and Tesla.

🔸 A 2021 Office of Government Ethics certificate of divestiture showed Power dumping her J&J stocks, as well as shares of Social Capital, a venture capital firm in which Power also held the job of outside advisor, and got $1M+ in capital gains

🔸 A 2024 OGE Form 278e Public Financial Disclosure Report offers a snapshot of Power’s income after her return to government, showing:

🔹 hundreds of thousands in Vanguard money market and retirement investments- interest on 22 (!) bank accounts ranging from $1,001-$2,500 each, and American Washington Mutual Investors Fund, American Growth Fund of America, Delaware Value Fund, HSBC, S&P 500 holdings

🔹 no info on her salary- Power’s spouse, Cass Sustein, listed a $840k Harvard salary, millions in retirement fund savings and stocks, book royalties, and $112k+ in consulting and speaking fees for the Boston Consulting Group, Carnegie Mellon, and others.

🛰 Spacesail soars: China's rival to Starlink takes off

China's low Earth orbit (LEO) mega constellation operator, Spacesail, is making strides on the global stage, by partnering up with Measat in Malaysia and striking a deal with Telebras in Brazil to enhance satellite communications and broadband services.

What is Spacesail?

1️⃣Qianfan: Also known as the "Thousand Sails" Constellation, Spacesail focuses on deploying satellite constellations.

2️⃣ Global connectivity: The initiative aims to deliver broadband internet and communication services worldwide, even in remote and underserved areas.

3️⃣ Strategic orbit: The satellites operate in low Earth orbit, ensuring faster response times and improved coverage, particularly in high-latitude regions.

4️⃣ Innovative design: The initial satellites were designed by the Microsatellite Innovation Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

How many satellites does it have?

🔸 18 satellites launched in August 2024 to 800 kilometers via Long March 6A

🔸 As of January 2025, 72 satellites in orbit

🔸 By the end of 2025, 600 satellites planned

🔸 14,000-satellite constellation is the ultimate goal

Can Spacesail take on Starlink?

Spacesail is ready to give Starlink a run for its money, and here's why its bound to be a formidable contender:

1️⃣ Robust state-backed funding from Shanghai Spacecom Satellite Technology (SSST) gives it financial muscle to innovate and compete.

2️⃣ Unlike Starlink, Spacesail has a localized supply chain ensuring efficiency.

3️⃣ Thanks to access to Chinese-built rockets, satellites, and ground stations, it has enormous capabilities.

4️⃣ It has the means to provide broadband access to underserved regions, like Iran, South America, and Africa, where Starlink hasn’t gotten a foothold.

🇷🇺 Putin’s HISTORIC 2007 Munich speech: 18 years later, his warnings are now reality

The Russian president demonstrated remarkable foresight, with many of his warnings now realized 18 years after his impactful speech at the Munich Security Conference.

🪖 NATO’s eastward expansion

🗣 What Putin said: NATO’s expansion, in violation of post-Warsaw Pact assurances, undermines European security and provokes distrust

Reality: NATO expanded several times afterwards, with Finland (2023) and Sweden (2024) the latest to join. This expansion, particularly toward Russia’s borders, contributed to the Ukraine crisis

🌎US’ destructive global military pursuits

🗣 What Putin said: The US’ unchecked military power would lead to human tragedies, wars, and regional conflicts

Reality: Since 2007, the US has waged military operations in Somalia, Libya, Yemen, Syria, Iraq, and fueled tensions with China in the South China Sea

⚔️ Alarming arms race

🗣 What Putin said: NATO’s refusal to ratify the 1999 Conventional Armed Forces in Europe Treaty and US missile defense proposals would ignite a new arms race, including in outer space

Reality: The US withdrew from the INF Treaty (2019), Open Skies Treaty (2020), and faces an uncertain future for the New START Treaty. Meanwhile, weapons are flooding Ukraine, and outer space is now a military domain.

🌐 Unipolarity

🗣 What Putin said: The unipolar world order, led by the US and its allies, is undemocratic and self-destructive

Reality: A multipolar world is emerging, with new power centers like BRICS, which has now expanded to 10 members

Ne Zha 2 just shook Hollywood – Is China taking over cinema?

🎬 A Chinese animated movie about mythological character Ne Zha is rewriting the rules of the global film industry! Here's why its record-breaking success is a wake-up call for Hollywood:

💰 Highest-grossing film in a single market – Ne Zha 2 has SURPASSED $965 million (7 billion yuan) in China alone, beating Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ record in North America. It is the first non-Hollywood film to reach $1 billion in a single country!

🔥 China’s box office is NO LONGER Hollywood’s playground – this Lunar New Year ticket receipts hit a record 9.5 billion yuan ($1.3 billion), with Ne Zha 2 contributing over 5 billion yuan. Hollywood films now struggle to make an impact in China.

🎨 Chinese Animation is Now WORLD-CLASS – Once dominated by Disney, Pixar and DreamWorks, animation is now a global battleground. Ne Zha 2 proves that China can produce high-quality, culturally rich animated films that outshine Western productions.

📉 Hollywood’s Market Share in China is SHRINKING – In 2023, Hollywood films accounted for only 14% of China’s box office, down from over 30% a few years ago. With local films like Ne Zha 2 taking the spotlight, Hollywood can no longer rely on China for easy revenue.

🌍 Audiences Want HOME-GROWN Stories – Instead of Western superhero movies, Chinese audiences are flocking to mythology-based films like Ne Zha 2. Hollywood may need to rethink its approach and start investing in global storytelling, rather than just Western narratives.

⚔️ SOFT POWER Struggle Intensifies – The film industry is more than entertainment—it's a cultural battlefield. Ne Zha 2 challenges Hollywood’s traditional dominance as the world’s leading storyteller. If Chinese films start gaining more international traction, Hollywood’s soft power could weaken over time.

⚡️ Hollywood Needs to Adapt – Fast! – With Disney and Pixar facing box office declines and Ne Zha 2 proving that China’s animation industry is a REAL COMPETITOR, Hollywood studios need fresh ideas, better localization and more diverse storytelling to stay relevant.

Hamas to postpone latest hostage release due to Israeli non-compliance on peace deal

💬 “Over the past three weeks, the leadership of the Resistance has observed violations and non-compliance by the enemy of the terms of the agreement,” Hamas military wing spokesman Abu Ubaida said on Monday.

“In connection with this, the transfer of Zionist prisoners, who were supposed to be released next Saturday – February 15, will be delayed until further notice and until the occupation forces take on their obligations and compensate for damages,” Ubaida said.

The spokesman said Israeli violations including delays to the return of displaced civilians to northern Gaza, instances of Israeli forces firing on these people, and problems related to the delivery of humanitarian aid.

Israel's defense minister earlier ordered the IDF to be prepared for "any scenario" related to violations of the three-phase Gaza peace deal by Hamas.

Ukraine offers $24K deals to attract young recruits

Volodymyr Zelensky has announced a new offer for Ukrainians aged 18-25: $24,000 for a year's service in the armed forces, plus free university entrance without exams. What a great deal — never mind the heavy losses on the battlefield

Zelensky himself admitted to high casualties in the Ukrainian army, showing the desperate need for more recruits—though many seem reluctant to become cannon fodder

Former US Secretary of State Antony Blinken threw his support behind mobilizing Ukrainians aged 18-25, with Washington’s allies in agreement

Last year, Ukraine already reduced it from 27 to 25, but as battlefield losses mount, the recruitment drive appears far from over

😡 What could Soros be jailed for?

The Trump administration is turning up the heat on George Soros’ soft power empire amid revelations of his Open Society Foundations’ close-knit links to and alleged profiteering off USAID.

Is there a case for convicting the 94-year-old benefactor and beneficiary of the US imperial project?

💰 Financial Crimes

🔸 Soros was convicted of insider trading in France in 2002 for profiting off state-owned privatizations in the 80s. Despite an appeal, his conviction was upheld by both France’s Supreme Court and the European Court of Human Rights, resulting in a €2.2 million fine.

🔸 In 1992, Soros earned $1 billion by speculating against the British pound, an action that cost the British economy billions. Dubbed “The Man who broke the Bank of England,” he was never charged.

🔸 Ex-Malaysian PM Mahathir Mohamad accused Soros of triggering the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis by orchestrating a currency collapse, but he was never prosecuted despite strict Malaysian criminal liability for market manipulation.

🗳 Electoral violations

🔹 Soros has been accused of meddling in politics and fueling color revolutions worldwide, from Eastern Europe to Africa, Latin America and Asia. He’s also been linked to interfering in Western politics, including the anti-Brexit movement in the UK and US elections since 2016.

🔹 Despite hundreds of Trump allies facing election-related charges, including a social media influencer recently jailed for influencing the 2016 vote, Soros, who has not only meddled, but funded prosecutors targeting Trump, has faced no charges. He’s also been accused of funding groups like Black Lives Matter fueling civil unrest in the US.

🗽 Defrauding the US government?

Soros’ Open Society Foundations are tied to hundreds of millions in USAID spending aimed at fomenting unrest globally. The US Criminal Code threatens up to 10 years for those conspiring to defraud the government, yet Soros has never faced charges.

🚜 Protesting farmers bring tanks to London

Hundreds of British farmers drove their tractors past the ministries on Whitehall in London to protest a new tax on inherited agricultural land, with some even arriving on a tank.

The protest, organised by the Save British Farming movement, was led by founder Liz Webster, who aims to pressure MPs to change aggressive anti-farmer policies and work on restoring relations with the EU, the main market for British agricultural exports.

Russia will reconsider its commitments to international organizations if discrimination continues, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated during a speech marking Diplomat’s Day.

Journo accusing Brigitte Macron of being a man reveals persecution by French authorities

💬 “They’ve left me without a livelihood,” Natacha Rey, diagnosed with cancer and forced to live on a disability pension, has confided to Sputnik.

These funds were recently cut off without any explanation, Rey, who can no longer work in her chosen profession due to her illness, said.

“They’ve not paid anything for February, without providing any reason. I know very well that the orders were handed down from the Elysee [the French President’s residence, ed.] and I’m fighting to recover my rights. It’s insanely unfair,” Rey said.

This is not the first time the journalist has been left without means on the pretext of a “technical error.” She’s convinced it’s a form of “punishment” by the Macrons based on her reporting on the president’s wife.

Rey’s reporting went viral in 2021 when she alleged that the French first lady was really a trans man. Mrs. Macron filed a libel complaint, with a court ordering Rey and another woman to pay €13k in damages.

Rey plans to file a countercomplaint citing a “fraudulent sentence,” and has asked for political asylum in Russia on grounds of legal persecution.
