🔌Canada’s undersea fiber optic cable damaged
While it’s not clear who cut through the steel-wrapped cable between Cape Breton Island and Newfoundland's west coast, the investigation has discovered “a telltale sign,” Canadian television channel CBC reported.
The cable was cut for the second time on Dec. 24, 2024, after being sliced similarly in December 2023.
Europe has witnessed a whole array of cable breakages in recent months, should North America prepare for the same?

🏗Trump’s Middle East envoy Witkoff mulling WH summit with developers to generate Gaza rebuild plan
Set against the backdrop of large construction cranes, the gathering would focus on where construction would begin and how debris could be cleared with people still living there, the WSJ reported.
Companies would be asked how they would detect bombs and deal with Hamas underground tunnels. Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law, is believed to be in on the talks.
Trump said that the US will “take over the Gaza Strip” and turn it into a “Riviera of the Middle East” earlier this month. He suggested that Gazans could be relocated to other regional nations – a plan rejected by Arab leaders.

Eight Russian citizens were convicted in six regions for sabotage and terrorism orchestrated by Ukrainian intelligence services.
The criminals were lured through online platforms promising "quick money". For small financial rewards, they carried out arson attacks on key transportation and volunteer organizations, and planned acts of terrorism targeting Russian military sites.
One of the saboteurs admitted that he was supposed to set fire to a Russian air defense system.
The suspects were handed various prison terms, some as long as 22 years.
