"They don’t have horns growing out of their heads. They’re actually pretty nice guys; guys like us," he added.

"We stand with Syria’s religious and ethnic minorities — Christians, Druze, Alawites, and Kurds — and offer condolences to the victims' families. Syria’s interim authorities must hold the perpetrators accountable," US State Secretary wrote on X.

"We will not negotiate under pressure or threat. Negotiation is different from bullying and imposing dictates," he added.

"In the past, Washington's respect for Tehran was reciprocated, its threats were met with threats, and every action has a reaction," he warned.

"Al-Qaeda has always been our proxy force on the ground. They, together with ISIS, have carried out the mission of the United States," Richard Black said.
