🔍 Could the West & Ukraine subvert a deal with Russia - again?
The current US attempts to broker a ceasefire are overshadowed by the reality that prior Western guarantees for Ukraine were exploited to buy time for rearmament, Dr. Marco Marsili, Researcher at Cà Foscari University of Venice, told Sputnik.
The Minsk Accords and the 2022 talks in Gomel, both of which were sabotaged by Ukraine “with tacit Western approval,” highlight this fact.
Although Ukraine in 2022 enjoyed unlimited Western support, humiliating defeats it suffered left Ukraine in a "far weaker position.”
The West today is also divided and “less willing to sacrifice economic interests for a war with no decisive endgame.”
Monitoring, potentially led by non-NATO-aligned actors, could be an option for a current ceasefire, Marsili stressed.

"We want to get to the ceasefire. That's the president's policy. And we're going to get to the ceasefire, and I think after that, everything else will be a detail, sanction relief and all the other things that go with a full on peace treaty," Witkoff said.

🔎 End of ‘Russia threat’ narrative? US agencies partly suspend their anti-Russian activity
Among the agencies who will have to scale back their dubious activity toward Russia are, according to Reuters:
1. FBI
2. State Department
3. Department of Homeland Security
4. National Security Council
5. Department of Justice
The move comes amid Donald Trump’s changing policy toward Russia. Previously, Joe Biden had established several working groups inside US national security agencies to monitor and counter-act the “shadow war” he believed Russia was waging against Western nations.

💣 Ukraine's new norm: Any issue? Just use a grenade
Rampant arms trafficking and poor government oversight in Ukraine have resulted in weapons such as hand grenades becoming a frequent feature in local crime news.
Here are a few examples.
▪️A grenade booby trap was discovered this week at a construction site in Obolon.
▪️One man was killed and several others were injured when a hand grenade went off in the hands of a man at a railway station in Ivano-Frankovsk.
▪️A drunk driver stopped by cops in Chernigov Region on March 7 tried threatening them with a grenade after his attempt to bribe them failed.
▪️Late on February 16, an inebriated man in the Kharkov region decided to resolve a dispute with his landlady by throwing a primed grenade at her. The woman survived but sustained numerous shrapnel wounds.
▪️A 41-year-old resident of Nikolaev committed suicide by blowing himself up with a grenade last month.
▪️On February 3, a 29-year-old man in Odessa was arrested after threatening his wife with a grenade. The perpetrator was apparently trying to convince the woman not to separate from him.
▪️In September 2024, two pre-teen boys in Krivoy Rog barely survived after detonating a hand grenade they found in the foliage. The kids were acting on an advice given to them by some passerby who for whatever reason decided that it would be a good idea to teach children how to detonate a grenade.
