🪴 Virginians will have to wait for legal marijuana sales as GOP kills massive bill
A Virginia House of Delegates subcommittee on Monday killed efforts to accelerate recreational marijuana sales in the state, leaving its budding cannabis industry in limbo for at least another year.
The GOP-controlled House panel voted along party lines to float a nearly 200-page bill until next year’s legislative session. The bill had become this year’s vehicle for nearly all marijuana-related measures, outlining everything from enforcement and regulation to tax revenue and reinvestment.
One of the biggest provisions would have allowed the commonwealth’s four preexisting medicinal dispensaries and some large industrial hemp processors to begin selling recreational marijuana Sept. 15.

🎆 New Orleans again embraces Mardi Gras — with restrictions
New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell (D) cited dangerously high covid rates in her decision last February to call off parades and limit public gatherings — a precaution to avoid repeating the dismal outcome of Mardi Gras 2020.
In its wake, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and French Quarter Festival, two other blockbuster events on the annual calendar, were scratched. Both are set to return this year.
New Orleans remains the strictest city in the South for coronavirus mandates, with either proof of vaccination or a negative coronavirus test required to enter bars, restaurants and indoor event spaces. Indoor masking is still a requirement, too. A spokeswoman for the mayor said the city will reevaluate its policies after Mardi Gras concludes.

😬👎Canadian Deputy PM Chrystia Freeland is in hot water after sharing a photo with her posing with the red-and-black banner of the notorious Nazi collaborator 'Ukrainian Insurgent Army.'
After users pointed out this "awkward" fact, the politician rushed to remove the photo and replace it with another, but the damage was already done. However, in the newly uploaded picture, Freeland appeared with a similar Nazi flag in the background.
Freeland is just one of the many Western politicians who seems to be unaware of the role Nazi collaborators have played in Ukraine's history and how their ideology is backed by modern Ukrainian radicals (or they just simply choose to ignore it?)

🇸🇾 Syria's envoy to the UN, Bashar Jaafari told Sputnik that the US 🇺🇸 had been developing a plan and provoking a conflict in Ukraine🇺🇦 to block the supply of Russia's gas 🇷🇺 to Europe long before the beginning of Moscow's special military operation in Ukraine.
"The West did understand that it was pushing the Ukrainian president into a conflict in order to explode the situation in Ukraine. That is why they held a summit of gas exporting countries in Doha and then summoned the Qatari emir. All this shows that President Putin has been in the position of a defendant rather than an attacker all this time," the deputy minister said.

🇷🇺🇺🇳Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Vassily Nebenzia blasted the role that his “Western colleagues” played in “fueling the Ukrainian crisis” in his speech on Monday.
Nebenzia says Western nations gave Kiev “carte blanche” to commit the “unspeakable” acts that have taken place since the 2014 coup, including:
❗️ “flagrant discrimination” against Russian-speaking people
❗️ “glorification of Hitler’s accomplices”
❗️ “arranging a religious schism in Ukraine”
What he also said:
◾️Russian mission blocked “anti-Russian” resolution because it left out how the “junta that rose to power after the unconstitutional coup d'état in Kiev in February 2014 waged war on the people of eastern Ukraine.”
◾️We received letter from Ukrainian rights organization denouncing Ukrainian regime’s decision to release from prison “convicts… who committed felonies” including murder, and arm them with assault rifles.
◾️Nationalists now hold the Ukrainian people “as hostages and use [them] as a human shield… Basically, it is the same tactics as that of ISIL* terrorists.”
◾️“Since there is no proof that the Russian military [destroyed] civilian infrastructure, Ukrainian strikes and occasional hits are presented as such” amid an all-out “information war on Russia.”
* A terrorist group banned in Russia
