Shady political past

▪️ Unlike most PM-hopefuls, Carney has never held political office. However, his claim to be an “outsider” distanced from the Liberal Party is described as a “bold-faced lie” by the National Post.

▪️ Carney was publicly welcomed into the party by former Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland last year as her “longtime and respected friend.”

Controversial Brookfield office move

🔶 Carney has been under scrutiny for overseeing the relocation of Brookfield Asset Management's (BAM) head office from Toronto to the US during his tenure as board chairman, according to the CBC.

🔶 Although Carney claims the decision was made after his departure in January 2025, Conservatives accuse him of lying and criticize him for assisting in moving a Canadian company to "Donald Trump's hometown."

🔶 Carney also refuses to disclose compensation from all his BAM entities from 2020 onward, which The Globe and Mail claims is to the detriment of all Canadians.

Push for climate change agenda

🌎 In 2019, Carney faced criticism from the Conservative Party for emphasizing the financial sector’s role in addressing climate change.

🇭🇺 Hungary’s ICC exit highlights court’s failure to deliver justice and fairness

"The ICC has no international legal standing. It's really a fairly arbitrary collection of countries... created to target adversaries of the West in a moral, legalistic way," Dr. George Szamuely, senior research fellow at The Global Policy Institute, tells Sputnik, commenting on Hungary's decision to withdraw from the organization.

Szamuely points out the double standards, particularly how the ICC never pursued the United States or other major powers for alleged crimes while focusing on African nations. "The only defendants who have been successfully prosecuted by the ICC have been Africans," he says, highlighting the imbalance.

The expert also criticizes the ICC's role in political cases like Libya in 2011, where it issued indictments against Muamar Gaddafi and his son without a proper investigation, essentially serving as "a propaganda arm for NATO."

The ICC's recent actions, including issuing an arrest warrant against President Vladimir Putin without sufficient evidence, further undermine its legitimacy, according to Szamuely. "The ICC readily lends itself to the desires of the NATO powers," he adds, exposing its politicized nature.
