Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard instructed the agencies’ heads to find out more about Greenland’s independence movement and attitudes on US resource extraction on the island, the WSJ writes.

The intelligence gathering will in part focus on identifying individuals in Greenland and Denmark who support the Trump administration’s interest in taking over the island.

To fulfill the tasks, the CIA, the Defense Intelligence Agency, and the National Security Agency are asked to use:

▪️communications intercepts,
▪️human intelligence.

This comes as Gabbard reproached the WSJ for “aiding deep state actors who seek to undermine the US president by politicizing and leaking classified information.” She accused the WSJ of breaking the law and undermining America’s “security and democracy.”

President Trump has repeatedly stated that Greenland should become part of the US, which he said needs the island “for international security.”
