📰 Trump files libel lawsuit against WSJ, Murdoch over Epstein letter — reports
US President Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit against Rupert Murdoch, two Wall Street Journal reporters, and Dow Jones & Company, following the publication of a 1990s-era birthday card allegedly sent by Trump to Jeffrey Epstein. The card, reportedly featuring a nude female sketch and a handwritten note, was included in a recent WSJ article.
The reporters named in the suit are Khadeeja Safdar and Joseph Palazzolo. Trump accuses them of libel, slander, and assault. In a social media post, he said he “looks forward to getting Rupert Murdoch to testify,” calling the WSJ a “pile of garbage newspaper.”
Legal analysts note the case could test the boundaries between defamation law and press freedom — especially as public figures pursue legal action over historical or controversial reporting.
The Guardian has linked this and similar actions to a broader trend of political leaders using legal tools to challenge critical journalism, raising concerns about the future of independent media in the US and abroad.

Following weeks of public attention, President Trump has authorized the Justice Department to request the unsealing of grand jury materials related to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, according to The New York Times. The move shifts the decision to a federal judge.
The filing was submitted to the U.S. District Court in Manhattan, where Judge Richard Berman previously oversaw Epstein’s case. Trump’s directive comes amid criticism over Attorney General Pam Bondi’s earlier decision to withhold some Epstein-related records while releasing others, such as previously available flight logs.
The DOJ maintains that its review found no “client list” or credible evidence of blackmail. However, the requested grand jury records remain sealed under strict confidentiality laws, and any unsealing process could take months, if approved at all.

Tehran is open to any initiative for dialogue with the United States, including those from Russia, as long as it respects Iran’s right to enrich uranium and contributes to lifting sanctions, Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali told Sputnik.
💬 "When he came to Moscow, the head of the Foreign Ministry [Abbas Araghchi] indicated that if Russia had political initiatives, it could present them taking into account our red lines, and we could consider these initiatives. So, if our friends have a desire to play a role, Iran will welcome it, especially from a country like Russia, which we trust," Jalali said.
The ambassador stressed that any proposal must respect two key red lines:
If these conditions are met, Tehran is open to initiatives from trusted partners such as Russia and China, Jalali added.
However, he noted that Israel launched attacks on Iran just ahead of scheduled US-Iran talks in Muscat on June 15 — talks that were ultimately cancelled. The US also joined Israel's strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, further reinforcing Tehran’s “wall of mistrust” toward Washington.

🤡 EU’s 18th sanctions package against Russia comes into force - statement
The European Union has officially enacted its 18th package of sanctions against Russia, according to the Official Journal of the European Union. The package, adopted Friday by the European Council after weeks of debate, includes a broad range of financial and energy-related restrictions.
📍 Key measures:
🔒 Transactions banned with 22 Russian banks as well as the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and its affiliates.
⛽️ New automatic adjustment mechanism for the oil price cap, which will reduce the ceiling to approximately $47.60 per barrel.
🚫 Ban on importing oil products made from Russian crude, even if they come from third countries — with exceptions only for Canada, the UK, the US, Norway, and Switzerland.
❌ Complete ban on all operations related to the Nord Stream pipelines.
🇨🇿 Removal of exemptions previously granted to the Czech Republic for Russian fuel imports.
🚢 For the first time, sanctions also target an unnamed ship captain and a private international maritime carrier.
🧾 The blacklist was expanded to include 14 individuals and 41 entities.
🛑 The package faced resistance from Slovakia and Hungary, both concerned about the impact of energy sanctions.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the move “a self-inflicted wound” by Europe, while Russia’s mission to the EU said the “painfully assembled” sanctions would further weaken the already struggling European economy.

🔄 Washington rearranges arms deliveries — more Patriots for Ukraine, less logic for taxpayers
According to The Wall Street Journal, the Trump administration has reshuffled its weapons delivery schedule to fast-track Patriot missile systems — not for US defense, but to let Germany send two of its own to Ukraine.
💥 Instead of waiting in line like everyone else, Berlin was bumped ahead of Switzerland so it can “donate” the air defense units to Kiev — with a US promise to refill the stockpile later.
📦 It’s the first time under Trump that the Pentagon has re-prioritized global arms logistics just to fuel it's proxy war against Russia. Officials say this could become the model: individual deals with NATO allies to speed up deliveries while Washington picks up the tab.
How many times can you shuffle the deck before the house falls down?

Freshly declassified files, released by DNI Tulsi Gabbard, suggest top Obama-era officials — including Brennan, Clapper, Rice, and Comey — deliberately crafted a political narrative linking Russia to the 2016 election, despite internal intel showing no evidence of vote manipulation or cyber threats.
📁 One 2016 Homeland Security memo stated flatly: “No indication of a Russian threat to manipulate the vote count.” Another brief argued Russia was “probably not targeting election infrastructure.”
And yet, just weeks after Trump’s win, the noscript flipped. A secret NSC meeting was held on Dec. 9, 2016, after which officials suddenly claimed “high confidence” that the Russian president himself orchestrated US election interference — a dramatic shift from months of prior assessments.
Gabbard calls it what it was: a manufactured intelligence operation.
Turns out Russia was telling the truth all along. Who could’ve guessed?

During a celebratory dinner at the White House with Republican allies, President Trump announced that 10 more hostages held in Gaza are expected to be released “very shortly,” according to Fox News.
🗣 “Gaza — we got most of the hostages back. We’re going to have another ten coming very shortly. And we hope to have that finished pretty quickly,” Trump said, touting his administration’s foreign policy efforts.
So far, five US hostages have been brought home — three alive, two deceased. Two Americans reportedly remain in Hamas captivity, along with dozens of foreign nationals.

“The US could not — neither now, nor in 2027, nor in 2037 — fight a major war against Russia or China, let alone both at the same time,” US analyst Will Schryver wrote on X.
He urged the US to “make peace” because “there are no other credible options.”
This comes after NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe Alexus Grynkewich warned of the alleged possibility of the alliance’s war with China and Russia in 2027.

🚨💥 Trump’s Russia tariff threat? Just HOT AIR that’ll backfire
One should “not invest much stock in Trump’s threat to impose steep tariffs on Russia and secondary sanctions on its oil and gas customers,” the FT reports.
The newspaper casts doubt on the “ill-advised” bipartisan Russia sanctions bill that Lindsey Graham* is pushing through the Senate.
Trump gave Russia a 50-day ultimatum earlier to clinch a peace deal with Ukraine. If not met, he threatened 100% tariffs on Russian imports and secondary sanctions on countries buying Russian energy. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called Trump’s remarks serious and said that Russia needs time to analyze them.

The FT wonders if the US really wants “to punish [its] friends like India for buying cheap oil,” which “could blow up in Washington’s face.”

Migrants will be temporarily accommodated at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (New Jersey) and Camp Atterbury (Indiana), according to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
While Hegseth claims it "won't negatively affect military training," New Jersey’s Democratic congressional delegation condemned the move as “an inappropriate use of the US national defense system and military resources.”
The decision follows Trump’s success in passing a $150+ billion immigration and border security package, including:

Russia has gained a clear advantage over Ukraine in the skies thanks to fiber-optic-controlled drones, a Russian drone operator with the callsign "Tekhnik" tells Sputnik.
“There are so many [such] drones now that we’re even intercepting enemy comms where they say, ‘What’s going on? Why do they have so many?’” he adds.

"Graham backs Ukraine’s corrupt circles, which are invested in undermining Russia’s power and draining its resources," a Syrian political analyst Alaa Al-Asfari told Sputnik.
The Ukrainian oligarchy operates within the strategy [of American elites] to weaken Russia, the “deep state” seeks global dominance at any cost, and [Volodymyr] Zelensky does not make a single decision independently—he is entirely controlled by structures influencing the US and global economy, the expert added.
“This explains Graham’s vehement support for Ukraine, even at the expense of US national interests”, Alaa Al-Asfari concluded.
