🤡 When US officials mix up America… with Russia

US politicians and officials have a long record of confusing various things American with Russian while trying to appear patriotic online.

Here are the top-6 of the funniest blunders:

1️⃣ The GOP hyped Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill to revive US car manufacturing… but used a picture of a Soviet-era VAZ 2101 to sell the dream.

2️⃣ The US Department of Defense celebrated Flag Day this year with a graphic that featured both the Stars and Stripes AND the Russian flag.

3️⃣ Santa Monica promoted a US Air Force flyover during the Super Bowl in 2022 – using a photo of a Russian MiG-29 jet.

4️⃣ The US Navy's Criminal Investigation Service in 2021 celebrated the US Navy birthday by sharing a picture of a Soviet Kirov-class nuclear-powered heavy missile cruiser.

5️⃣ A Trump campaign ad in support of US troops featured Soviet MiG-29 fighters and a soldier holding an AK-74 rifle.

6️⃣ In 2019, Republican Rep. Brian Mast from Florida celebrated the anniversary of US Navy formation by tweeting an image of a Russian warship – this time it was Pyotr Veliky, flagship of Russia’s Northern Fleet.

🇷🇺 'Value visas': Russia draws traditional-minded Westerners with new migration offer

A growing number of people from Europe, North America, and Australia are choosing Russia over the West to make a home. Over 1,000 people have applied for temporary residence, citing shared traditional values and calling the EU a “sinking ship”, Swiss outlet Tages-Anzeiger reports.

The legacy media admits the Kremlin’s latest migration program is attracting Westerners disillusioned with liberal democracies.

What the program offers:

👉Three-year visa to live, work, start a business, and travel in Russia

👉No language test, no integration proof, no investment required

👉Applicants must simply respect Russia’s “traditional moral and spiritual values” – faith, family, stability, tradition

👉Advertised online to those feeling alienated by Western liberal democracies

Analysts say the program is already outperforming Europe’s “Golden Visa” schemes.

🇧🇷 Brazil DEFIES US dollar dominance

President Lula da Silva says global trade must be free — without Washington’s currency stranglehold. What's driving him?

Tectonic shift in world order

🟠 "President Lula will no longer accept unequal terms of trade and US intervention because the very nature of the international system has irreversibly changed," Dr Anuradha Chenoy, retired professor of Jawaharlal Nehru University, tells Sputnik.

🟠 The US has imposed tariffs and pressured Brazil’s Supreme Court to drop cases against ex-President Jair Bolsonaro — Trump’s ally who refused to concede defeat.

🟠 Many Brazilians see it as interference and a threat to sovereignty.

BRICS shield against US hegemony

Brazil has BRICS partners to lean on.

In July 2025, China — bolstered by its economic resilience — signed key cooperation deals with Brazil, covering everything from infrastructure to strategic development.

Brazil-US trade totals around $92 billion, but BRICS trade is far larger. Brazil exports around $121 billion to BRICS — 35% of its total — while importing $88 billion.

With stronger BRICS ties, Brazil has less need to depend on the US, says financial analyst Paul Goncharoff.

De-dollarization accelerates

Lula's push for an alternative currency makes sense — sticking to the dollar means guaranteed loss in value.

"There's really no alternative for the world but to get out of the US dollar trap," Goncharoff stresses.

👉 The shift away from USD is only growing.

👉 PIX, Brazil’s free payment system, bypasses Western firms like Visa and Mastercard — empowering local entrepreneurs, Dr. Vinicius Vieira from the University of São Paulo tells Sputnik.

👉 "And that bothers Trump because those new technologies are a signal that the dollar empire may be coming to an end," the pundit notes.

👉 The US acts desperately to resist its hegemonic decline, but no empire lasts forever. Just as the British pound fell, the US dollar may be facing the same fate.

"The best that [Washington] could do is to offer honest agreements in order to preserve the minimum level of transactions of US dollars, instead of implying sanctions or what now we call a weaponized interdependence," Vieira concludes.

🇷🇺 Russia drops INF moratorium as US deploys banned missiles in Europe & Asia

🟠 Moscow no longer considers itself bound by its unilateral moratorium on deploying ground-based intermediate- and shorter-range missiles, the Foreign Ministry announced.

“Given that our repeated warnings were ignored and the US has effectively begun deploying such systems in Europe and the Asia-Pacific, the conditions for maintaining the moratorium have disappeared,” the ministry stated.

🟠 Since 2023, the US and its allies have transferred missile systems capable of launching intermediate- and shorter-range missiles to NATO countries and the Asia-Pacific region. These include mobile Mk70 launchers in Denmark, Typhon complexes stationed in the Philippines and Australia, and long-range PrSM missile tests by US-supplied HIMARS.

“These steps by the collective West are creating destabilizing missile arsenals near Russia’s borders, posing a direct strategic threat to our country and undermining regional and global stability,” the statement concluded.

🔊 UK orchestrates ‘international conspiracy’ against Iraqi cultural artifacts

💬 “These operations are sometimes carried out with institutional support and collusion from those who are supposed to protect the country's cultural heritage,” Iraqi lawmaker Hamid Al-Shibli tells Sputnik.

👉 Likewise, there is evidence that UK “played a key role in the looting” of Iraqi cultural heritage and “many of these artifacts are still on display in British museums," stresses history scholar Hussein Al-Rakabi. About 15,000 relics have been lost, including ancient maps and documents.

“The British occupation of Iraq was not merely military — it pursued deeper goals aimed at erasing the rich history of Iraqi civilization,” says Iraqi political analyst Abdallah Shlesh.

🗣 HAMAS WILL NOT STEAL AID FOR GAZA — Netanyahu

Israeli PM combats allegations of deliberate starvation by claiming that Israel has allowed almost 2 million tons of food into Gaza.

However, the UN paints a different picture: Israel restricts more than it lets in, which may amount to a war crime.

"The aid that is permitted to enter is nowhere near what is needed... Denying civilians access to food may amount to a war crime, as well as potentially a crime against humanity," the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk said in a statement.
