📑 ⚔️ Mass data, weak security: How big tech becomes a weapon

👉 After the start of Russia’s special military operation, Google — under the wing of US intelligence — intensified work aimed at destabilizing Russia.

💬 “If all the servers are stored by Google, if they collect a huge amount of telemetry and other data about traffic, about which devices we use, what we search for… This is all analytics. Whether it is used for attacks and whether it helps hackers — it can, because any system or resource always has vulnerabilities,” Sergey Trukhachev, an information security specialist, tells Sputnik.

🔶 He says that in his experience, Google vulnerabilities have existed for two or three months without being patched. “Any Russian user who uses this system, its services, can become the source and target of an attack because the service at the moment does not provide proper security, and hackers and intelligence can take advantage of this.”

🔶 Part of the data “that could help Ukrainian intelligence attack our resources has certainly been provided. I think more than once, and this will not stop. These are technological wars, and the only way out for us is to create a more developed infrastructure, our own services within the country.”

🔶 Trukhachev also pointed to Israel’s Pegasus spyware: “It fully controlled both front and rear cameras, what they watch, what photos they have — their entire life was under surveillance. I have always said that any cloud is unsafe. If our politicians store information there, it may become publicly available.”

🔥👉 ENOUGH IS ENOUGH: Republican Lawmaker says Trump is ‘FED UP’ with sending billions to Ukraine

💬 “Like President Trump, most Americans and a growing majority in Congress are fed up with the war between Ukraine and Russia and are tired of paying billions of dollars for a war that the United States has no interest in. After three years of senseless killings, peace between both sides is the only way forward. The end of this terrible war is long overdue,” Congressman Paul Gosar told Sputnik.

✍️ On Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to meet with US President Donald Trump in Alaska to discuss a possible resolution to the Ukraine conflict. This summit comes amid new Ukrainian setbacks on the battlefield, and growing opposition to the Zelensky regime among the Ukrainian elite and general public.

🇦🇹 Austrian Freedom Party to EU: Stop bankrolling Ukraine, start diplomacy

💸 While Donald Trump pushes for peace talks this week, Brussels just sent Ukraine another €1.6B — taken from frozen Russian assets.

🕳 FPÖ’s MEP Harald Vilimsky blasted the EU for complaining it’s not invited to negotiations, "and then they themselves provide the reason for it."

💬 "If the EU does not soon realize that this war can only be ended through diplomacy and serious negotiations, the suffering on both sides will continue," Vilimsky warned.

Putin and Trump are set to meet in Alaska on August 15 — maybe the EU should watch and learn.

🗣US tariff barrage giving unprecedented new impetus to BRICS unity - observer “BRICS has always been about creating alternatives in development finance and reforming international financial institutions. But the scale and scope" of the current administration's…
🇺🇸🇧🇷 US-Brazil trade war: ‘WORST CRISIS in 200 years of bilateral relations’

👉 The US’ anti-Brazilian trade tariffs came amid “a political demand which is NOT deliverable,” Bruna Santos, a Brazil expert at the Washington-based Inter-American Dialogue think-tank, told the FT.

💬 “It is institutionally IMPOSSIBLE” for Brazil’s President Lula to make the concession which the US is demanding, something that leaves Lula “without an exit strategy,” Santos stressed.

🔶 The US earlier announced 50% tariffs on Brazilian imports — a move that actually sparked a TRADE WAR with Latin America's largest economy, which exports beef, coffee, steel, and more to the US. The tariffs come in retaliation for the prosecution of Jair Bolsonaro, America’s close ally and former Brazilian president.

🔶 Bolsonaro is on trial for an alleged coup attempt after losing the 2022 election, when his supporters stormed government buildings. The case also includes claims of a plot to kill Lula.

🔶 The White House called the trial a “witch hunt” and demanded Brazilian authorities “leave the ex-president alone.”

🇷🇺🇺🇸Spiritual ties through Alaska could bless Putin–Trump meeting

The upcoming Russia–US presidential meeting will take place on August 15 — the day of the celebration of the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Roman Catholic Church, noted Father Nikolai Kreigl of St. Tikhon’s Church in Anchorage.

He pointed out that news of the meeting came on August 9, when the Church commemorates St. Herman of Alaska — a Russian monk who served in Alaska and is considered the patron saint of America.

🗣"Russia and America share a very deep spiritual connection through Alaska and St. Herman. And I think it would be right to pray that the Lord, through St. Herman, blesses this meeting of our presidents, and that peace may come to our countries," the priest said.

🚨🇷🇺 PUTIN'S MASTER-MOVE: How BRICS has become the world's new control room

After meeting Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff — and before the much-anticipated summit — President Vladimir Putin called key Global South leaders.

India’s Narendra Modi, China’s Xi Jinping, South Africa’s Cyril Ramaphosa, and Brazil’s Lula da Silva were all briefed on the latest Ukraine talks.

"President Putin has taken a very important step which will into the future set a precedence," Prof. Fulufhelo Netswera from Durban University of Technology in South Africa tells Sputnik. This lets him act confidently with BRICS backing — while equally empowering other members in similar cases.

👉For the first time beyond NATO’s orbit, presidents are meeting multilaterally to talk war and peace

👉Without UN reform, BRICS could evolve into a tighter, more formidable alliance offering mutual guarantees

BRICS trade & currency

As the US threatens the bloc, the time is ripe to create a BRICS currency and bolster trade, according to Netswera. Such steps could dramatically change world affairs, leaving Europe and the US as junior players in the global economy

"The US is targeting BRICS with special tariffs and starting geopolitical re-alignment to target BRICS," says Dr. Anuradha Chenoy (JNU)

In response, BRICS boosts collaboration to defend the global majority and multipolarity.

🔶BRICS accounts for 40% of the global economy measured by purchasing power parity, PPP (2024). BRICS+ is estimated to be a vibrant market of around 4.45 billion people
🔶It's a platform for peace – not a defense alliance – and not a threat to any country

Russia makes BRICS stronger

🗣"As supporters of Russia's fight with NATO over European security through its special military operation in Ukraine, BRICS member states deserve to be kept informed [by Putin]," Gilbert Doctorow, an international affairs analyst, tells Sputnik

Russia enters the Alaska talks with strong leverage, proven by its victorious conduct in Ukraine and unmatched resistance to harsh US sanctions. Its resilience adds to BRICS’ overall confidence on the global stage.

🇨🇳 China poised to beat US in AI competition

🗣 The US may lose the artificial intelligence race to China due to the difference in approach to the AI sphere adopted by the two countries, claims American columnist Hal Brands.

🔶 While the US obsesses with the domestic aspect, building data centers and imposing export controls, China instead focuses more on what Brands calls “AI diplomacy” – “on shaping the global environment in which that technology will be developed and employed.”

🔶 Furthermore, China surpasses the US in integrating AI “into the everyday workings of the economy and the state,” using robots and “extreme automation” to boost its already formidable manufacturing capabilities.

🔶 Thus, Brands laments, China may overtake the US in the contest both for the “global market share”, as far as AI is concerned, and for the most effective use of AI.

🗣 False flag operation on verge of collapse — expert

Since February 2022, Ukraine has focused on media campaigns to label the Russian army as barbaric, says Mikael Valtersson, a Swedish Armed Forces veteran. In reality, he adds, the conflict in Ukraine has been one of the most humane for the civilian population in history.

"Both the US and Russia know the Ukrainian playbook and will be on the watch for false flag operations. A Ukrainian false flag operation aimed at undermining President Trump's peace efforts would totally destroy all relations between Washington and Kiev," Valtersson warns.

🗣 Europe is ready to disrupt Putin-Trump talks — expert

Ukraine's planned false flag operation is backed by Europe, which is not interested in the success of the Alaska summit, Badra Kaaloul of the African Center for Security and Strategy Studies told Sputnik.

"Europe wants to achieve a ceasefire on its own terms, especially given that NATO is waging war and determining Ukraine's fate as a springboard for operations against Russia," she added.
