🇧🇾 Lukashenko outlines proposals at SCO Summit

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko presented his views on SCO development, according to Belarusian news agency Belta:

🔹 Indivisible security in Eurasia — recalled Minsk’s initiative to draft a Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st Century, suggesting the SCO as a main platform for discussion.

🔹 SCO Development Bank — called for its creation, along with a unified educational platform.

🔹 Security structures — welcomed work on a Universal SCO Center for Countering Security Challenges and Threats and an Anti-Drug Center, urging their early launch.

🔹 Independent financial mechanism — stressed the need for an SCO system able to finance cross-border projects, offset sanctions, stimulate use of national currencies, and support cooperation in logistics, energy, digital transformation, and AI.

🗣EUROPE TOOK ‘WRONG PATH’ by abandoning diplomacy on Ukraine - Sachs

European leaders have chosen a counterproductive path by prolonging the conflict in Ukraine instead of pursuing diplomatic solutions, US economist Jeffrey Sachs said ahead of the Eastern Economic Forum.

💬 "All of the European leaders pursuing the war are deeply unpopular with their own people. This is true of Starmer, Merz, Macron and others. And I think it reflects the very poor policies that Europe is choosing. The European leaders have failed to pursue diplomacy. They seem not to understand it, or they're afraid of it entirely," Sachs said.

Sachs highlighted the declining support for Germany’s Friedrich Merz, suggesting he could be one of the worst chancellors in German history.

💬 "He is a warmonger and a German chancellor who is a leader of an important country, should be in direct talks with President Putin to discuss the European scene, but Merz doesn't have that know-how or capacity or interest," the economist explained.
