🇷🇺🤝🇨🇳 Power of Siberia 2: Russia and China tighten energy ties despite US pressure

🗣Russian natural gas is vital for China, and expanded supplies through the Power of Siberia 2.0 pipeline bring major gains for Beijing, John Gong, professor of economics at the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, tells Sputnik.

"This provides a cost-effective supply of natural gas, not subject to any choke points by anyone," Gong stresses.

🟠 In 2024, Gazprom supplied China with 31.12 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas. Deliveries are planned to reach 38 bcm in 2025.

🟠 The new pipeline, Power of Siberia 2, is designed to deliver 50 bcm annually to China. A legally binding memorandum on the project has been signed by Russia, China, and Mongolia.

🟠 China will receive gas from fields that were previously used to supply Europe.

"China is under immense pressure from Washington not to buy Russian oil and energy products... But it's pretty clear that both countries are not going to budge or be bullied into giving up their own national interests."

🇩🇪🔍 Mysterious deaths of AfD members before elections in Germany – what’s known

German media recently reported on four candidates from the right-wing party who had died ahead of the local elections in the North Rhine-Westphalia region (scheduled for September 14).

As of now, the number has risen to six. Two more of their party members have passed away, the AfD spokesperson confirmed to the media.

Despite the suspicious nature of the situation, law enforcement has no evidence of criminal activity related to these deaths.
The last two deaths were due to chronic liver disease leading to kidney failure, as well as suicide, party representatives said.

Just before the elections, four AfD members died:

🟠 AfD candidate Ralph Lange (in Blomberg)

🟠 Stefan Berendes, a candidate for the city council (in Bad Lippspringe)

🟠 AfD candidate Wolfgang Klinger (in Schwerte)

🟠 AfD candidate Wolfgang Seitz (in Rheinberg)

💬 There is no reason to believe that these deaths are connected in any way, AfD parliamentary deputy Kay Gottschalk stated.

The data available to the party “at least at this moment does not support these suspicions.”
