✍️ Macron nominates Defense Minister Lecornu as Prime Minister — reports

Outgoing French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu, 39, has been appointed to the post of prime minister, according to BFMTV. He thanked President Emmanuel Macron for his trust in a message on X.

French lawmakers voted on Monday to oust Prime Minister François Bayrou, who submitted his resignation to Macron the following day. The National Assembly removed Bayrou over his proposed $51 billion in budget cuts aimed at addressing France’s debt crisis.

Lecornu will be the FIFTH prime minister in less than two years. The formal handover of power between Bayrou and Lecornu is scheduled for Wednesday, September 10.

Major nationwide demonstrations are expected on Wednesday, with another strike reportedly planned for September 18.

After stepping down as the British PM, Boris Johnson acted as the “principal adviser” for Bia Advisory, a “climate finance solutions” firm seeking the support of Mubadala, Abu Dhabi’s $300 billion investment fund, The Guardian reports, citing a trove of leaked documents.

🟠BoJo was reportedly offered a personal stake in Bia Advisory. He would receive 24% of the shares, with a further 20% for his aide Shelley Williams-Walker.
