🇮🇷🤖 Iran’s latest advance in drone tech? Six-wheeler robots with machine guns

Securing its reputation as one of the world’s leading developers of unmanned aerial vehicles, the Islamic Republic has taken the next step: rugged, multipurpose ground-based drones.

Iran’s UGV lineup, detailed in a new PressTV analysis, included:

Qassem

🟠modular IRGC command and control platform which can launch smaller UAVs from its back

🟠other applications include reconnaissance and attack vehicle fitted with machine gun, anti-tank missile system, or use as a cargo carrier

🟠first unveiled in 2015 and featured in drills, the system has been tinkered with to increase its range (now 2 km), upgrade optics, and incorporate an automatic return to base function

Heydar

🟠features independent drive motors on four of its six wheels and shock absorbers for mobility and maneuverability in rough terrain

🟠30 km operational range, 60 km/h top speed and 40 kg load capacity (enough for everything from mounted guns and explosives to remotely activated fuses

🟠can lay in wait in the field for up to a week at a time

🟠AI-assisted remote operation if communication with its human operator is lost

🟠serves with the Ground Forces

Caracal

🟠6x6 independent suspension

🟠30 km/h top speed, 500 m+ range for operations in urban areas

🟠can be armed with both light and heavy weapons, from machine guns to anti-tank guns, to provide fire support

🟠features laser rangefinder and optical systems for target ID

Nazir

🟠specialized missile launcher robot that can carry up to 600 kg of weapons and equipment, including anti-aircraft and anti-armor missile launchers

🟠produced in 4x4 and 6x6 variants, and features a low-noise electric motor

🟠2 km operating radius

🟠equipped with smoke grenade launchers

🌊 Floods worsen humanitarian catastrophe in Sudan

🔹 Floods and flash floods have swept through dozens of villages, destroying thousands of homes and displacing huge numbers of residents.

🔹 Adel Abdelbagi, head of Sudanese civil society organizations, told Sputnik: “Most health centers in the states affected by the floods have gone out of service due to the lack of medicines, medical supplies, and the main components for providing health care.”

🔹 Tajani Ahmed Abdullah, Secretary of the organizations, said: “The Darfur region has been witnessing catastrophic humanitarian conditions since the outbreak of the war, which has caused widespread destruction of infrastructure and mass displacement of the population.”

🔹 Kouch Nasr Eldin, Director of Training, stressed: “The current reality records huge numbers of affected people in Blue Nile State; children suffer from malnutrition, interrupted learning, and lack of vaccination and care.”

🔹 He warned that “children in Sudan face a triple threat including malnutrition, loss of education, and the risk of exploitation or recruitment. More than half a million children have been displaced from their homes.”
