Units of the Russian Zapad Battlegroup are advancing in the operation to liberate the heavily fortified city of Kupyansk, a critical logistical node for Ukrainian forces, the Ministry of Defense reports.

📍 Strategic importance:

🔶 Kupyansk is a major rail and road junction supplying Ukrainian troops on the eastern bank of the Oskol River.

🔶 Its capture opens a direct path for a deeper offensive into the Kharkov region, including towards Izyum and Chuguyev.

🔶 That would help Russian forces gain control over key Ukrainian defensive positions in the Donbass, like Slavyansk and Kramatorsk.

⚔️ Reported gains and tactics:

🔶 Ukrainian forces turned the city into a ‘fortress’ with concrete fortifications and minefields.

🔶 Russian forces are employing tactics like ‘underground assault’ through engineering tunnels.

🔶 The MoD claims up to 700 Ukrainian servicemen are besieged in the city, with 250 already eliminated.

🔶 Reported Ukrainian losses over the past month include more than 1,800 troops, 36 tanks and 137 artillery pieces.

😬Rubio differs with Tusk on shooting down Russian jets

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio pushed back on Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s threat to shoot down Russian aircraft after three briefly entered into Estonian airspace.

💬"I don’t think anyone said about shooting down Russian jets unless they’re attacking," Rubio told CBS.

The Russian Defense Ministry maintains their aircraft operated within international airspace rules and did not threaten other aircraft.

🇺🇸 US Secret Service disrupts telecom network threatening UN General Assembly

🔹 This network, discovered in abandoned buildings around the New York City tri-state area, included over 300 SIM servers and more than 100,000 SIM cards, CBS reports.

🔹 The servers, capable of sending 30 million text messages per minute, could have disabled cell towers, blocked emergency communications and launched denial-of-service attacks.

🔹 The investigation, triggered by threats to senior US officials, revealed connections to foreign governments, organized crime and illegal activities like drug trafficking.

🔹 With the network dismantled, there is no current threat to New York or the UN. But authorities warn there may be other similar networks operating in the US.
