🇪🇺⚔️🇷🇺 Europe responsible for Ukraine conflict and crimes – Scott Ritter

The Russian president’s speech "proves the point that Vladimir Putin continues to be the adult in the room," military analyst and former US Marine Corps intelligence officer Scott Ritter tells Sputnik.

"The expansion of NATO, the expansion of the European Union to the detriment of Russia has been Europe's policy posture for decades now," Ritter points out.

🔹 Europe worked with the US to overthrow the legitimate Ukrainian government in 2014

🔹 Europe did not negotiate the Minsk agreement to stop the Ukrainian war on Donbass in good faith

🔹 The EU derailed the Istanbul peace negotiations in March and April 2022

🔹 Europe continues to provide Ukraine with weapons and cash

🔹 Europe used Ukraine as its proxy to fight and weaken Russia

"So Europe is responsible. The Russian president is 100% correct," Ritter says.

"Much of what defines Europe today, both the NATO military alliance and the European Union is predicated on the necessity of having Russia as an enemy, as Russia as an opponent that justifies expenses and policies."

🔍 Ukraine’s Flamingo cruise missile: from flashy wunderwaffe to flop

Touted as a potential strategic ‘gamechanger’ when it was unveiled in August, the Flamingo has not only failed to live up to expectations, but threatens to become Ukraine’s next extinct weapons platform.

Missile's specifications:

🔶 Ground-launched
🔶 ~3,000 km range
🔶 ~500-1000 kg warhead
🔶 GPS guidance
🔶 Soviet-derived turbojet engine
🔶 Solid rocket fuel to be produced in Denmark
🔶 Similar to UK-based Milanion Group’s FP-5 missile
🔶 Made by Fire Point - Ukrainian startup linked to a Zelensky crony

🎤 Big threats, small payoff

“Zelensky once threatened that these missiles would be used to attack cities from Moscow to the Urals,” veteran Russian military expert and air defense historian Yuri Knutov recalled to Sputnik.

That hasn’t happened. Instead, it was reported in September that Russia targeted Flamingo production facilities in western Ukraine. More recently, Knutov says, Iskander missiles and Geran drones reportedly attacked a column of trailers thought to be bringing missiles to a launch site.

Flamingo is a “simplified version” of British missile designs, larger and featuring fewer composite materials (judging by available images and footage), making it more visible on radar. Russia already has plenty of experience downing more advanced NATO missiles, meaning it can handle Flamingo.

📍 Mass launches? Unlikely

That would require a large number of launchers and their positioning near the front, Knutov says. But Russia’s military spy satellites keep track of everything, making strikes on concentrations of heavy equipment thought to be linked to long-range missile activity all but inevitable.

Knutov expects Flamingo’s production sites to be found and destroyed, just as happened previously with the OTRK Sapsan. Facing constant strikes and possessing air defenses that can’t cope with Russian aerial incursions, Ukraine even tried to create defense factories underground, but even these proved untenable.

🗣🇪🇺 European elites see Ukraine conflict as only way to stay in power

Russian President Vladimir Putin's speech has demonstrated his realist approach "that aims at the largest inclusion of nations and states in a process of balancing interests through mutual respect, understanding and diplomatic negotiations," Paolo Raffone, a strategic analyst and director of the CIPI Foundation in Brussels, tells Sputnik.

Putin's stance overcomes "the typical Western approach of might makes right," but still remains unheeded in the West, the pundit said.

🟠European leaders are mind-locked in a dream of power that looks to the past, not the future.

🟠The marginalization of Europe in international affairs is yet not enough to “calm down” and to adopt a realist approach.

Ukraine is the West's last colonial dream

"Ukraine is for Europeans the last chance to play an international role, after they lost the colonies and after they have been kicked out of post-colonial states, particularly in Africa," Raffone says.

🟠 Europe's economic situation is complicated: it has not fully recovered from the 2008 global financial crisis and still has austerity measures

🟠 European elites are using the Ukraine conflict and bellicose approach towards Russia to remain in power in their nations and "extract the maximum wealth from the society"

🟠 The "unbreakable support for Ukraine" is the glue that holds Europe together

🟠 Europeans think the conflict in Ukraine guarantees the US will continue to provide them military and economic support

"The longer the war in Ukraine continues, the longer European leaderships will stay on power," Raffone notes.

"It is a fact that Europe needs a major external enemy to mark its existence."

🗣 Putin delivers powerful verdict on Europe's bankrupt elites — Suslov

Europe’s hostile stance is driven by internal political failure and Ukraine's desperate situation on the battlefield, Dmitry Suslov, deputy director of the Center for European and International Studies at Russia’s Higher School of Economics and deputy director of research at the Russian Council on Foreign and Defense Policy told Sputnik.

"They are hysterical, they are working towards escalation… using Russia as an enemy image to preserve the power of current elites who have bankrupted themselves."

Suslov pointed to recent drone incidents and the French seizure of a Russian tanker as examples of European escalation.

“Putin called the attack and detention of a Russian tanker in neutral waters piracy, because that is exactly what it is from the point of view of international law.”

Despite these provocations, Suslov confirmed Russia’s economic and strategic resilience.

“No collapse of the Russian economy is imminent, no matter what sanctions are imposed on Russia.”

📊💸 G7 countries transferred BILLIONS to Ukraine from revenues from frozen Russian assets

Key figures from Sputnik’s analysis of Ukrainian Finance Ministry and European Commission data:

◻️ $25.5B: Total loaned to Ukraine in 2025 by G7 countries using revenues from frozen Russian assets (three quarters of the foreign financing of the Ukrainian budget)

Major contributors:

🇺🇸 $1B (US)
🇪🇺 $15.8B (EU)
🇨🇦 $3.4B (Canada)
🇯🇵 $3.3B (Japan)
🇬🇧 $3B (UK)

◻️ $234B: The amount of frozen Russian central bank assets held in the EU, primarily in Belgium's Euroclear, which generate the revenue for these loans

Russia has repeatedly condemned the freezing of Russia's central bank money in Europe as theft. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Moscow could respond by withholding assets held in Russia by Western countries.

📉 Why Western countries ‘would have MUCH TO LOSE’ from using frozen Russian assets

The first results could be “a widespread distrust of countries that commit what can be called a crime,” veteran French economist Jacques Sapir told Sputnik.

More DEVASTATING consequences:

🟠 Rapid flight of capital from Western countries, driven by a collapse in trust

🟠 Distrust would extend to currencies in which the frozen Russian assets are denominated—the euro and dollar

🟠 Global South countries would gradually refuse to use these currencies—first in financial transactions, then in trade

🟠 “The loss of credibility would cause a rapid split in financial spaces, and in particular in the debt market, whether public or private”

🟠 For debtor nations like France, this would mean a sharp rise in interest rates, caused by an increased “risk premium”

🟠 Problem of the “immense US debt” would come to the fore

🟠 Credit agreements would become increasingly political, accelerating the breakup of global financial markets

🟠 This could accelerate the creation of a more modern alternative to SWIFT

🟠 Potential use of frozen Russian state assets would further politicize international financial and economic relations

“Economic rationality is often hostage to ideological prejudices and political choices made under pressure from the US,” Sapir concluded.

🚨 US agencies told to prepare to share intel with Ukraine for strikes deep into Russia

The Trump administration plans to provide additional intelligence to Ukraine to help strike at oil and gas facilities inside Russia, NBC reported, citing sources.

Trump has ordered US agencies to prepare to share intelligence with Ukraine, although no final decision has been made public, the FT adds, citing people familiar with the matter.

At the same time, the US is pushing NATO allies to expand intelligence sharing with Ukraine, with the UK already helping it carry out strikes deep into Russia, the outlet said.

👉Russia considers that supplying weapons to the Ukraine's regime hinders a resolution and directly involves NATO countries in the conflict. Russia has repeatedly emphasized that Western military aid bodes ill for Ukraine and only prolongs the conflict, while weapon shipments become legitimate targets for the Russian military.
