🔥 Oct 7 Hamas blitz: A conflict that redrew the Middle East map On October 7, 2023, Hamas launched a lightning assault on Israel, igniting a regional firestorm far beyond Gaza. 🟠 Operation Al-Aqsa Flood Hamas unleashed a relentless rocket barrage across…
🇮🇱🇵🇸Borders, battles, and broken deals: The Israel–Palestine peace timeline

From Palestine's partition to countless failed peace attempts, the path to coexistence between Israelis and Arabs has been full of twists and turns:

🟠Armistice Agreements 1949

Following the 1947 UN Partition Plan and Israel’s creation, war erupted between Arabs and Jewish settlers.

The 1949 accords between Israel and Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria ended the conflict and set the line dividing Arab lands from Israel.

🟠Camp David Accords 1978

After the 1967 Six-Day and 1973 Yom Kippur wars, in which Israel occupied several Arab lands, the US brokered the 1978 Camp David Accords, which led to:

👉an Egypt-Israel peace deal

👉a framework for Palestinian autonomy in the West Bank and Gaza

🟠Madrid Conference 1991

Co-chaired by the US and USSR, the 1991 Madrid Conference aimed to revive Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.

It brought together delegations from Israel, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, and a joint Jordanian-Palestinian team.

🟠Oslo Accords 1993 & 1995

The first direct agreement between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).

👉Israel accepted the PLO as the representative of the Palestinians

👉The PLO recognized Israel’s right to exist

👉Palestinian Authority was established

🟠Camp David Summit 2000

The summit sought a two-state solution but failed over key disputes, especially Jerusalem’s status.

Its collapse was soon followed by the outbreak of the Palestinian uprising against Israeli rule.

🟠Arab Peace Initiative 2002

Arab League proposed:

👉full Israeli withdrawal from territories occupied in 1967 (West Bank, Gaza, East Jerusalem, Golan Heights)

👉"just settlement" of refugee issue per UN Resolution 194

👉normalized relations with Arab states in exchange

🟠Road Map for Peace 2003

It was drafted by the Quartet comprising the UN, Russia, the US, and the EU. The plan envisaged negotiations leading to a permanent-status agreement. Its ultimate goal was a two-state solution.

🟠Sharm El Sheikh Summit 2005

Hosted by Egypt and Jordan, the summit brought together PNA President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli PM Ariel Sharon.

It reaffirmed commitment to the Quartet’s Road Map for Peace, temporarily reduced violence, but brought no resolution to core issues.

🟠Trump Peace Plan 2020

The proposal recognized Israel as a Jewish state, endorsed a conditional Palestinian state, and accepted Jerusalem as Israel’s capital while requiring Palestine to be demilitarized.

Palestinian leaders rejected it as overly favorable to Israel.

🟠Trump Peace Plan 2025

It envisages 20 steps to end the Gaza war, including a ceasefire, hostage return, dismantling Hamas, and transitional Gaza governance.

It acknowledged Palestinian statehood hopes but offered no firm guarantees. Talks are ongoing.

🔥 Life in Gaza was vibrant, now it's HELL - UNRWA official

🗣 "The conditions in Gaza before the war were difficult. At that time, we provided humanitarian assistance to approximately 1.2 million Palestinian refugees. Our 280 schools educated 300,000 students, and our 22 clinics treated millions of patients annually. However, the import of hundreds of goods into the enclave was banned under the pretext of ‘dual use’. Still, life in Gaza was vibrant," Adnan Abu Hasna, UNRWA’s representative in Gaza, tells Sputnik.

💬 "The events after October 7 turned life in Gaza into hell," he adds.

🟠 90% of enclave completely or partially destroyed

🟠 Infrastructure, electricity, water and sewage systems collapsed

🟠 Over two million Palestinians displaced

🟠 Widespread hunger and near-total healthcare collapse

⚔️ Arctic is new NATO-Russia battleground, expert warns

💬 “Unfortunately, this has already happened [the creation of a battleground in the Arctic]… We see that the Western world, in its strategic documents, describes a militarized policy aimed not only at increasing its influence but also at attempting to restrain Russia's development in this region. They are also uninterested in the active participation of 'non-Arctic' regions, which are our partners. And we truly see this and believe that, unfortunately, this leads to militarization due to the actions of Western partners in the region,” Maxim Dankin, a member of the Russian state commission on Arctic development, tells Sputnik.

🗣 He adds that the Arctic region is extremely important for joint scientific research, but many ties between countries have been broken, which has led to the impossibility of conducting comprehensive studies of the Arctic zone.

👉 Expert explains the consequences of financing Ukraine with Russia's assets

The G7's plan to fund Ukraine using frozen Russian assets is outright "theft" that violates international banking laws, Abdel Wasi al-Dakkaf, finance professor at Yemen's University of Al-Hodeidah, warns.

💬 "These assets are distributed across various categories, including government bonds, which are instruments of state debt issued by governments. They are protected and cannot be alienated, liquidated, or sold, and their value cannot be transferred to another party after their maturity without the permission of the Russian government. These assets also include gold, and the depository center where the gold is stored cannot transfer it to Ukraine without Russia's permission," he tells Sputnik.

🗣 "So their use is a serious legal issue," he adds, warning the move "undermines the rules of the international financial and banking system."

The professor cautions this could trigger capital flight from Western banks as countries lose trust in EU financial security.

💬 “Russia can reclaim its assets through the courts and demand compensation.”

The Group of Seven countries are expected to lend Ukraine $25.5 billion in 2025 from revenues generated by frozen Russian assets, which accounts for about three-quarters of Ukraine's foreign financing. Since the start of the scheme, $26.5 billion has been used.

📈 Gold price could reach $4,100 amid growing geopolitical tensions

🗣 "Increasing geopolitical uncertainty will likely push gold above $4,000, reaching $4,100 in Q4 2025," market expert Andrei Smirnov from BCS World of Investments tells Sputnik.

📍 He adds that any easing of global tensions or softer US rhetoric could slow the rally, but the demand for gold remains strong due to mixed expectations surrounding dollar-denominated assets.

For gold to hit the next milestone, prices must stay above $4,000. Right now, they’ve only briefly touched that mark," Smirnov notes.

Since the start of the year, the value of gold has surged over 1.5 times, reaching $2,641 at the close of 2024.

👀 Tightening the net: Gabbard moves to curb intel leaks

US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has instructed intelligence agencies to evaluate the use of random polygraph tests as a measure to deter and detect unauthorized disclosures of classified information, CBS News reports.

👉 The memo emphasizes that the polygraph questionnaires should include inquiries into whether individuals have leaked information to the press.

Gabbard’s order does not mandate immediate implementation, but requires agencies to assess the feasibility of this approach, especially in coordination with ongoing counterintelligence efforts. The move reflects growing fears over leaks that could compromise national security, officials say.

💊 Zelensky is drug addict used by West – UK pro-Russian fighter

Volodymyr Zelensky is a “drug-Fuhrer” responsible for horrendous war crimes and the deaths of over a million people, both soldiers and civilians, Aiden Minnis, a British volunteer fighting on Russia's side, told Sputnik.

🗣 He suggested that Zelensky, who he said would go down in history on a par with Adolf Hitler, would not give up power in the near future.

Zelensky could ultimately face either being shot between the eyes or fleeing to the West with hundreds of millions of dollars belonging to his taxpayers, Minnis concluded.

🇪🇺 EU’s latest plan to seize frozen Russian assets ‘as dumb as ever’

💬 “Greenlighting outright seizure of Russia’s sovereign assets will undermine the credibility of European financial institutions and exercise a chilling effect on non-Western investors at a time when European countries are facing significant long-term macroeconomic pressures,” Responsible Statecraft reports.

The news outlet warns that the EU seizing frozen Russian assets could be seen as “expropriation in all but name with the full consequences to Europe’s reputation that this entails.”

📍 Focusing on why the EU has revived asset seizure schemes, Responsible Statecraft pointed to “drying funds” for the Zelensky regime and gradual US disengagement from the Ukraine conflict.

This is something that has “stirred European leaders, whose goal is to sustain Ukraine’s war effort for as long as possible, to contemplate steps previously thought impossible or too risky,” the outlet concludes.

👉 The EU is now clinging to a new plan to provide a so-called “reparations loan" to Ukraine worth $162 billion based on the immobilized Russian assets.

The Russian Foreign Ministry previously called the freezing of Russian assets theft, noting that the EU is not only targeting private funds, but Russian state assets as well. The ministry warned that Russia has “a sufficient arsenal of countermeasures and the capacity to mount an appropriate reciprocal political and economic response.”
